As other reviews have said, the installation of this was as challenging as any flat-pack furniture I've encountered (the final steps definitely required two people). However, I've now had this cabinet in my entryway for over a year, and it is sturdy, stylish, functional, and in perfect condition despite heavy use. I recently hosted friends on two consecutive nights, and each time I was asked where I got this cabinet because they thought it would work great in their place. If you're willing to commit to the elbow grease at the outset, the Idasen cabinet is well worth it. Possibly my all-time best IKEA purchase.

Definitely buy this. 5 stars. Referring to the IDASEN 50496381, cabinet with doors and drawers.Highly recommended. I am critical of ikea furniture and this definitely is a high quality unit built for frequent, long term use.Pros: Sturdy, precision build, reinforced materials, can hold a lot of weight. Drawers are also sturdy and strong. Lots of space. Inside shelves are adjustable. Top of the unit has a recess, which helps with storing small boxes and other items (no slipping off).Cons. Took 1.5 hours to build the IDASEN. The door rails were tricky to install. Screws are unusually small and difficult to fasten, especially if you have big hands or have issues seeing close up. I was so excited when Ikea came out with this because I had previously purchased the Idasen drawer on casters, so this larger version seemed like the perfect fit. I love the sleek look, adjustable shelves, and the size is perfect for our small apartment. We didn't even have problems with assembly. However, finding hanging file frames to fit inside the drawers has been a nightmare. The dimensions are different from the rolling Idasen drawer which can fit a frame height of 9.75" plus plastic connecting pieces. The filing drawers in the Idasen cabinet are smaller (max height = 9.5" and ~15" long). Most frames seem to have a min height of 9.5" and min length of 18". I've yet to find something that works. I wish Ikea sold hanging frames or installable tracks specifically ... MoreI was so excited when Ikea came out with this because I had previously purchased the Idasen drawer on casters, so this larger version seemed like the perfect fit. I purchased this cabinet to use as a coffee/tea bar in my living room. I read the reviews before purchasing it so I knew that some had struggled with aligning the doors or some holes are not pre-drilled. I found the assembly instructions to be clear and straightforward. There are easy to follow instructions for aligning the doors so that wasn't an issue for me. I used E-6000 glue for metal to put together the drawers that didn't have the pre-drilled holes. After applying the glue, I clamped the pieces and let the glue dry for an hour before proceeding with the rest of the installation. I only used one shelf so that there was enough room for a mini fridge for creamer. I would recommend this product to a friend. Very chic, clean looking.
So I definitely checked out the reviews ahead of time as I’m a single female who planned to assemble this by myself. Having prepared mentally for difficulties with assembly, I was surprised that it came together pretty easily, though took a couple of hours (I accidentally used the wrong screws on one section and had to redo it). Like another reviewer, I’m using it for shoe storage and it is infinitely nicer than the stacked shoe racks I had before. It does scratch easily, but not gouged out scratches, just little ones you see at an angle when the light hits it just right, versus looking at it head on. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on it so far and the green is lovely.
I bought the cabinet and after assembling it discovered that the holes that are drilled for the drawer slides don’t line up on one of the drawers. The drawer sits very crooked and there is nothing you can do to fix it. I tried calling customer service and was told that the store I bought it from would call me in 2 days to arrange to have a new unit delivered and pick this one up. That didn’t happen, so I called again today and was told that what the first person told me was only true if I bought it online but because I bought it in a store I would have to return it to the store (which is 2 hours away). I have multiple pieces from IKEA all throughout my house and I have never had an issue with any of them. Love the design and the storage options this cabinet gives you but holy heck is it a pain to assemble. About halfway though the difficulty takes a complete nosedive when assembling the drawers and doors. Parts are way to flimsy and don't line up properly when building the drawers. It's easier to build them in reverse. And good luck finding a screwdriver skinny enough because you'll be putting in screws that are almost flush against something else. I like the product and the looks of it but how it assembles needs some serious redesign.
When loading the two boxes for assembly the thought was this is very heavy. It makes sense however because it’s well-built it’s all metal. The assembly process I was told was going to be one of the more challenging ones. Lol I’m very happy to say that I was able to complete the assembly with no glitches whatsoever. My only recommendation is if you could come up with some type of hard plastic twisting mechanism to bend the metal tabs, instead of a screwdriver.
Cabinet looks great, the build was easier then expected after reading the reviews of others. Few things to remember with the drawers: put these together while sitting at a table for a flat surface, ensure all the pieces are properly aligned before bending the metal tabs, and there are two drawer fronts so the second one will have the square opening on the other side. All the screws should find their proper homes. Don’t over think inserting the drawers into the cabinet, just push them in and feel it sink into place. Most frustrating part was getting the doors to align properly while sitting on carpeted floors. I blame the floors.Yes, as others have stated you would need something to hang files with placed inside the drawers. The space could accommodate a holder.
Like all the other reviews, I agree that assembly was very confusing. Definitely use two people to assemble the drawers or else they will keep collapsing and be sure they are in place before pushing metal tabs in. The doors on ours are also not lined up perfectly at the top which is very annoying. All in all though this is beautiful and I love it. It also holds way more than I expected which is great. Would not go return it/glad I bought it but I really wish it cost less for how annoying it was to assemble. For the price point maybe would've considered a similar product from a different brand. Giving it four stars though because I really do love it and the color is beautiful.
