A practical, sanitary way to measure body temps!

I was able to measure both my own and my husband's body temperatures myself using this (with the "finger-touch" cheat described above).I really like the concept of being able to measure someone's body temperature without touching them, as it keeps the thermometer clean without the use of probe covers, and reduces the risk of transmitting communicable diseases. This would be especially practical for use with family members with strong gag reflexes (which make the use of oral thermometers difficult), or who experience physical discomfort when other types of thermometers are used (f.ex., kids with ear infections & ear thermometers). When you see the "low battery" icon light up after using this device with the original batteries, replace the batteries with AAA batteries of your choice (alkaline or rechargeable batteries would be best), and you can continue using this for a long time. Highly recommended!

A thermometer is a household essential. There’s so many different types and brands that it can be hard to find a reliable option. I need touch free quick options because it can be hard to get an accurate temperature on a super active kid. I have two non verbal kids that don’t understand what taking a temperature is so it can be a struggle to check when we suspect a fever. I really like the simple design. There’s just one button to click and no waiting for results. The vibration feature once a temperature is read is also handy. No guessing or trying to hear a beep over screaming or crying. The screen is lit and has an easy to read font. Consistent results when same spot checked multiple times in a row. I’ve had others where the results are so varied that I don’t know ... MoreA thermometer is a household essential. If you have a sick child who is screaming, crying and vomiting at 2am, you need a thermometer that will be fast, accurate, reliable, and easy to use. The first thing I noticed about this thermometer is that it's pretty and modern. Second, it is extremely difficult to open the battery compartment to put batteries in, as there is nothing but a tiny bump for your fingers to grip onto. If the batteries need to be replaced quickly while my child is sick, I would probably throw the thermometer away out of frustration. Third, once you get the batteries in, it is very easy to use with literally just pushing one button. If the manufacturer can add more "grip" to the battery compartment, I'd absolutely give this 5 stars. I would recommend this item if you're not concerned ... MoreIf you have a sick child who is screaming, crying and vomiting at 2am, you need a thermometer that will be fast, accurate, reliable, and easy to use. I was super excited to find this no touch forehead thermometer from iHealth. I can say that it has exceeded my expectations. It runs on 2 AAA batteries, which are included inside the package. Set is as easy as putting the batteries inside the thermometer. Then simply aim the probe of the thermometer to the middle of your forehead, keeping it less than 3 centimeters away from your skin. You press the big button. The unit vibrates to let you know the temperature has been read. The process is very quick, only taking about 2 seconds. the display showing the temperature is very easy to read. I wished I has found this thermometer sooner because it's pretty awesome! I would not hesitate to buy more of these, both for my own family and as gifts.

NOT FOR BABIES & TODDLERS
5 December 2022

Just as a PSA this type of touchless thermometer should never be used for newborns, infants, babies, toddlers.. generally anyone under about 4-5 years of age. Baby's temperature should be taken with a rectal thermometer (they make small probe thermometers for this very purpose) which will give a much more accurate body temperature. That is the method your pediatrician or ER doctor would request anyway. I used my vick's rectal thermometer on my kiddos until at least preschool age. But a fever can signal a dangerous infection in a newborn or infant so you need to know for sure, and the specific number matters more than when kids are older. I have not had consistent readings with this iTouch thermometer. But a fever can signal a dangerous infection in a newborn or infant so you need to know for sure, and the specific number matters more than when kids are older. I have not had consistent readings with this iTouch thermometer. Suspiciously it almost always reads "97.3" as if that is a default setting, and I guess when you're not sick it's probably "close enough" that you wouldn't think twice. I took my oral temp and it was about a degree higher than the iTouch. The distance for reading the temp is supposed to be 1.18" or 3cm.. and I have noticed any variation in the distance would give a different reading, but if taking your own temp it's hard to estimate. What I end up doing is using this touchless version is.. questioning the results, and then using the oral thermometer anyway. So it defeats the purpose. I have tried reading my kids' temps when they are asleep to see if their fever broke or not, and sometimes it is helpful for that (not for a specific reading, but just to see if it is over about 100 or not). I have also used it on my husband who hates oral thermometers to see if it reads a little higher than the 'default'. , and then I have a general idea if he is "feverish". I just don't' trust this as there is too much room for user error (wrong distance, a breeze blowing in the room, etc). Two stars for it feeling like a good quality instrument (doesn't feel cheap) and the buzz w/o beeping. Your mileage may vary.

New favorite

This is my new favorite thermometer. I have several oral thermometers as well as a non touch forehead one kind of like this one, but I like this one the most for several reasons. First, it's simple. There aren't several buttons for fancy noises or displays. It has one button. One push gets one reading. Another thing I like is it's quiet. My other forehead reader beeps when you take a temperature which could wake the person/child. While it does have a function you have to search for that will turn off the beep, that's just extra stuff I dont want to have to think about when dealing with a sick child. This one on the other hand, just vibrates when the temperature is taken. So, you know when it's done, but no noise. I would recommend.

When taking the temperature, there is no red dot (light) that appears where the thermometer is directed. I centered the thermometer a little bit above her eyebrows and placed the thermometer about two fingers’ width away from her eyebrows. At 5’4”, my two fingers width measures 1 ½”.How to Use:1) Press the button to turn on the thermometer.2) Then press the button again once it’s aligned on the forehead. Hold still and wait until you hear and feel the thermometer buzz/ vibrate. It’s not a big sound (won’t wake a sleeping child - for sure), but sufficient to know it’s complete.3) Then you have 6-8 seconds to read the display.Change from Centigrade / Fahrenheit:I was able to change the measurement scale from Centigrade to Fahrenheit. I pressed and held the button for about 8 seconds. The display flashed both the F° & C°. Press the bottom of the button for C° to appear. Press the top of the button for F° to appear. Then, once again, press and hold the button for 8 seconds – which will set the reading type. After 8 seconds, the F or C will disappear which means the reading scale is set.

I love today's technologies. This iHealth No-Touch Forehead Thermometer works fantastic. I have no complaints. With the press of a button two times, you will have your temperature within seconds. This thermometer even came with two triple aaa batteries. All you have to do is press the power button to turn the unit on, then move the thermometer approximately 1 inch away from the middle of your forehead, then press and hold the power button until you feel the unit vibrate, which lets you know your temperature has been recorded...That's all there is to it. This thermometer is very accurate compared to other units I have. The only thing I would say this unit is missing is a rubberized grip. The plastic casing can feel a little slippery.
