Awesome size and what we needed but slats could be stronger

The bed was easy enough for 1 person to assemble, it just takes time. The slats are made of pine wood it seems and are definitely not load bearing. 3 of them broke when our guest sat on them, not even jumped just sat on the bed. So check the slats when you get the item as there is no support for them in the middle of each section of the bed.I am going to check with ikea for a possible solution and to get stronger slats.I have other ikea beds but their slats are much stronger than what come with this one or may be its just my luck and I got a bad batch. But overall a good product. Its a little harder to pull out and push in on a furry carpet but manageable.

Brilliant idea but bad actual performance

Im usually happy with ikea furniture. I think they are well designed and quality is good for the price . But this one was an exception. The Assembly took 3 days (2-3 hours per day.) at the end, the pull out section does not run as smoothly as I expected ( as we tried hard to trouble shoot, in case we did something wrong, but all seems well, it’s just a crooked design or our piece was badly made maybe). it’s not as even as it should be for the two beds to fit into each other. when the pull out section is all inside, one side of the pull out stays out for about 1/4 inch, which is a lot. That makes it impossible to fit the pull out all the way back inside. It doesn’t seem like with this quality it will last more than a year. This bed failed after 2 uses. I carefully followed instructions for the install. An adult male fell through the section that is pulled out on the second use. The screws and compressed wood failed. Luckily he wasn’t injured. The metal frame in the middle is a dangerous and terrible design. I’m surprised more people haven’t reported issues so far. I spent an additional 75 bucks at Home Depot enforcing 2 of the metal frames on the farthest end of the bed . I then also purchased 39 inch boards in order to secure the side that gets pulled out. I’d like to bring this product back to the store for a refund if I could.Do not purchase unless you plan to reinforce this design yourself. But someone will get hurt at some point. Generally good, but has issues
18 May 2023

My spouse and I managed to assemble this over an hour or so, and it was somewhat tricky, but we were pleased with the end result. Generally happy with the product BUT, after a few weeks I noticed it not sitting square. Drawers wouldn't close properly unless the bed is nudged from one corner or another, and this is almost a daily thing to do now. Possibly we needed to tighten something up somewhere, but honestly that could take hours of deconstruction with no guarantee of fixing the problem. Also, we purchased the two recommended mattresses to fit, but would suggest to any customers out there that unless you intend to regularly use as both a single and a double bed, use whatever mattress that fits and you prefer, as even with these ones doubled up, it's SUPER FIRM, ... MoreMy spouse and I managed to assemble this over an hour or so, and it was somewhat tricky, but we were pleased with the end result. Good Value. Wrong size holes.
2 April 2023

Great value, works good. But assembling was a frustrating which meant a few trips to Bunnings. Holes were too small for some scews and nails. Needed to buy nails and a drill to makes holes bigger and screws fit. Some screws were the wrong style and did not match the ones on the instructions. Aside from those things that we worked around, the bed is pretty good value and works well.

Great bed w/ some issues, worth it though!
27 February 2019

Around two years ago my family and I moved which resulted in me needing a bed. Ikea was the simple solution for this problem. At the time both the black and white version of this bed was being sold in the Ikea near me, so I got the black one. I enjoy the ability to extend the bed out, and frequently use this feature in the summertime. We had some issues when constructing the bed frame, but nothing too bad. The problem I face on semi-regular basis is the boards under the mattresses. The first week of using the bed, I had it pulled out and when i got onto it a board cracked. This wasn't too big of an issue, but now approximately two years later I hear the boards creaking most nights, even when it is set as a single twin. This wasn't too big of an issue, but now approximately two years later I hear the boards creaking most nights, even when it is set as a single twin. I know I am a bit overweight and I sleep with a 45 lb dog, but this shouldn't be a problem. In my past experiences with Ikea beds and things, the items are usually rather sturdy and can tolerate alot more weight. In the future I plan to look at buying some sturdier boards and replacing all of the ones that came with the bed. Between me and my dog, summer and winter, this bed is quite useful. In the cold winter nights we can snuggle on the bed, and on the hot summer nights we can pull out the bed and stretch out. This may have sounded like a pretty negative review, but honestly I love the bed even with the issues it has. If you decide to get it, be aware it can be frustrating to put together, but is definitely worth it.

Love the look
18 February 2023

This bed looks amazing once constructed. It is, however, the most difficult IKEA construction I’ve ever had and I wish that it was recommended to use a drill. You also cannot construct this bed alone and need a minimum of 2 people to put together. It was painful putting this together without power tools and it would be great if some of the holes had been pre drilled, like so many other IKEA products are. My recommendation for this is to either buy or borrow a power drill and to watch a video of constructing it instead of following the infographic provided.

Poor quality which I had not expected
30 January 2023

I had booked an Ikea recomended installation team for installing the bed and the bed had damages from right after assembly. The bed would break in the middle when two people lay on it and this happens on a consistent basis. The parts are all flimsy and using it in a bed setting is almost impossible. The transition between the two modes is also not a smooth process and requires considerable effort and tweaking every time.

Very poor design
20 December 2021

This bed very poorly designed and honestly a safety hazard when pulled out and used as the queen sized bed. I cannot believe they went with a flimsy rod as a critical support structure. If the assembly is anything but perfect the pull out part will come out completely and the upper half will collapse. It almost led to a broken back. The bed is fine if you are using it purely as a twin bed. If you plan to use the pull out part even semi regularly, forget about it.(Also it is one of the tougher assemblies and one of the screws used is super low quality and strips very very easily)
