Broke on day 2, Fabric started pilling on week 5

Did not really like this one. Feels sturdy and the sofa to bed mechanism is very easy, but the main wooden support beam broke on day 2 with just normal sitting on the couch by one person. No excessive weight or jumping on it. I believe it may be a design flaw as the main wooden beam is quite long, bears most of the weight, has no secondary support and it is constructed using really soft wood. Also the Customer service experience to get the spare part was dreadful. Moreover the fabric started piling on week 5 of normal use which is unacceptable.Would not recommend this

Comfortable Value - but bedding is an issue

Assembly was easy and straight-forward, especially aided by a couple of YouTube video. Hex-head inserts for our electric screwdriver were a good investment, simplifying the driving of dozen of screws *** The sofa is comfortable, though the back cushions are a little soft for our tastes. Mattress in nicely firm; we added a thin foam topper *** BIGGEST ISSUE: Finding sheets which fit the mattress. Due to sleeper’s architecture, it is impossible to tuck sheets around and under the mattress – especially if you want a fitted sheet, let alone tucking in a top sheet and blanket. We were surprised that IKEA doesn’t offer bedding tailored for this product. Low "works as expected" rating due to fact that we expected to be able to tuck in bedding.

Good sofa bed for space constraint

I needed this sofa for a small room, but also wanted the ability to host overnight guests, hence the sofa bed option. While it was not difficult to put together, the instructions were definitely lacking clarity. The picture drawings were confusing and could easily be misinterpreted. The sofa portion is quite deep, so you'll need cushions for the back if you are not a particularly tall individual. The fabric can be a bit rough. I've used a throw over the armrests for a soft feel on my arms rather than the scratchy rough fabric's feel. That said, it is quite easy to convert it to a twin bed, and I like that it has storage too.Don't expect the cushion to be soft, it is a hard cushion. But, like I mentioned, this is only meant for occasional overnight guests.

Looks great now, but it took some time and effort
26 March 2023

Ordered the sofa bed with delivery. All good until I took out the last pieces - the arm rests. They both had stains on the fabric. The replacements didn’t arrive when promised. 3 weeks later, a whole new sofa bed arrived, instead of just the arm rests. A week later, the new sofa bed (minus the arm rests) was finally collected - 2 very large boxes that I needed to find space to store for the week. All that said, the sofa bed looks great, and my home is no longer a storage unit. Having paid for delivery, I would expect that to mean next day or two, not when it’s convenient for the delivery service.

Not as comfortable as in showroom
4 March 2023

We tested the model and it seemed quite comfortable and we tried to purchase it, but at the time it was on backorder. Finally, shortly before a trans Atlantic move, one became available. It was half a year before we received it in our new home and my son helped me build it. We made a few mistakes because instructions are just pictures, no words, but managed in the end. It is comfortable enough to sit on and nap on. However, one of our first guests complained about it being too hard, so we ended up borrowing a mattress from a neighbor to put on top of it. My biggest complaint though is the material. It is loose, everything clings to it and lint brushes don't help much. I have 6 grandchildren and even spills of water have left stains, but the recommended cleaning is ... MoreWe tested the model and it seemed quite comfortable and we tried to purchase it, but at the time it was on backorder. That does nothing.

One of the best sofas I’ve ever had
11 May 2023

I bought this sofa back in 2015 (it was about half price then) when I lived in a very small place with 2 kids. This sofa was my bed for 2 years and I loved it. Yes, it’s firm, but I slept well and it’s held up well with heavy use even after 8 years. Now, after 3 moves from California to Virginia to Texas, it’s still in great shape. We presently use it for kid's room as a game couch and guest bed. I ended up buying new furniture for our new home this last time we moved, and it’s nice, but I miss having this sofa because it’s simple, comfortable, multipurpose and well made. It’s held together and worn better than many of the “nicer” furniture we’ve gotten over the years. Have been regretting not getting these sofas for our home, and may be remedying that here in the ... MoreI bought this sofa back in 2015 (it was about half price then) when I lived in a very small place with 2 kids. Have been regretting not getting these sofas for our home, and may be remedying that here in the near future. The only thing I can complain about is that I wish it were easier to clean or had options for fitted, washable protective covers. If anything gets spilled on it or it gets dirty it is really difficult to clean.

Overall pleased, good for the price
15 June 2022

I wanted a sleeper sofa of sorts and thought this would be a good option. I purchased this just over a year ago and use it daily. Overall it's good and obviously people need to think of their own needs in relation to the reviews. It is pretty firm/ hard right out of the box, at times uncomfortable. It quickly softens up and sadly quickly becomes very soft. As far as the "bed".....you will have two distinct sides, and the back side won't be getting the wear as the sofa side if you're not using them both regularly.I do like the storage, and size is good for a bedroom. Overall I'm pleased.

Sturdy and useful

We’re very happy with our Friheten sofa bed. I was nervous about the installation because reviews said it was very difficult, but we didn’t have any trouble at all and it was all done in less than 2 hours. I definitely recommend following a YouTube video rather than the paper instructions, that will make it a lot easier to follow. The sofa is really big- I understand what some other reviews are saying about it being too deep, but I don’t mind. It folds out very smoothly and with little effort. Feels very sturdy. I hope the fabric holds up over time because this will be our guest room/nursery and it will get a lot of use. It’s a third party delivery company- I think North American Logistics- but I wanted to say the delivery man was very kind. He saw that I’m pregnant and brought the boxes up two flights of stairs to our front door so the boxes were in a safe place until my partner came home many hours later, when he reasonably could have left them on the lower stoop.

The second one in our family...that says it all!

More than five years ago, I helped my grown son assemble his Friheten with Skiftebo gray covering. He used it as a primary bed (with a 2-inch memory foam topper) for 4 years and was happy with it. It provided good support and, with the topper, was as good as any other bed. It is thick, firm, and quiet to sleep on. Now it serves as a sofa and guest bed in the room he uses as his home office. It still looks good and guests find it comfortable. So when we needed a sofa bed to serve as guest bed and sofa in our guest room/den, it was an easy choice! We considered the upgraded fabric, but saw that the floor model in the store had snagged with use, so we stayed with Skiftebo. We use a down-and-feather topper for guests because it is comfortable (just to soften the bed a bit and hide the fold line) and easier to store than foam. Assembly definitely takes two people. It is mostly easy but each time, I hit a confusing point and had to redo a step. Still, both times the team (this time my husband and I) got the job done. Definitely a good value and a product that works well.

Very pleased with this Sofabed
24 June 2022

Bought as an occasional bed for guests, this Sofabed is exactly what we have been looking for, full length, with no uncomfortable folding mattress or springy metal framework. It looks great, is easy to pull out and put back and is very comfortable to sleep on, (tested 7 nights looking after a new puppy downstairs) but I do like a firm mattress. The cushions from the sofa go neatly underneath when it is out.It took me about and hour to put together, including undoing and putting out for recycling all the Cardboard and other packaging. It's about 180kg as a combined pack, but could load from the trolley to the Van on my own, but you will need help to get it into the House. It is big so probably not something you would want to be thinking about moving around once ... MoreBought as an occasional bed for guests, this Sofabed is exactly what we have been looking for, full length, with no uncomfortable folding mattress or springy metal framework.
