Bought as-is, expecting to have to clean unit thoroughly and get new filter. Turns out fan is defect, too. Now I want a refund but IKEA chat is down, hotline after an hour wait puts me on hold against expressed dissent, drops the call. No idea how this filter works it it does work. All I say definitively is that it's not meant to last long: Standing around at IKEA as showroom model broke this one thoroughly.

Bought one when first saw it on shelf at Stoughton Ma store and went back and got second one the next week. Have four of them operating in rooms in our home and what a difference clean air makes. Easier to breathe, easy to move around the house … what a difference. Only put in new filters once a year. Clean them monthly same date as when we clean our AC filters. Great product period. Do yourself and your family a favor buy some, install them and use them. You and your family will certainly be happier and healthier for it.

The building across from us in our apartment complex was severely damaged by fire, requiring 2 YEARS of daily renovation. The allergens throughout this time were prolific, and my health began to suffer. We bought 2 of the Fortnuftig air purifiers, and noticed an immediate improvement. We have been using them ever since, and would recommend them.

I was suffering from daily allergy issues (dust, pollen, pet hair, you name it) and this has significantly reduced my symptoms (basically unless I'm cuddling my cat directly, I don't get allergies in my house anymore). I set them all at medium and my little apartment doesn’t have a SPECK of dust and it’s so easy to breathe now living next to a busy road! I only bought one of the charcoal filters for the kitchen purifier to help with cooking smells and I bought some long charcoal filter media and cut them to size for the other three! This works great for smoke and polluted air, but not as well for my cat allergies :(. Cal allergens are super small (smaller than smoke) and I’ve noticed that these filters don’t do the job as well as I’d like, so I still have to have another air purifier running. I love that you can mount the units on the wall so I’d love to have some higher powered filters! Please consider this IKEA!
Since the pandemic I have become more intolerant to certain airborne particles within my house. I vacuum religiously every weekend and dust as needed. About 18 months ago I bought one of the förnuftig, placed it next to my bed and turned it on to the lowest setting. I no longer wake up coughing and sneezing. I also noticeably have less dust in my bedroom which made the decision to buy 3 more for the house a no-brainer. Thank you for making a product that has improved the air quality within my house, and saved me cash on replacement filters!
The air purifier looks good and works well, but the wall plug is ergonomically terrible. At 5.6cm (2 1/4") of stick out from the wall I am guessing they never thought that someone might plug it in behind a piece of furniture. Though that seems to be a theme for ikea plugs in general. Which odd when they sell furniture designed for best use of space. Otherwise it is a dandy of a unit.

The caveat is that at the highest setting you can definitely hear the fan at work but can not say I am particularly bothered by it as it's almost like a white noise.It could not be simpler to use with only the single knob allowing for three fan speeds and the unit is very light so moving it around say from room to room is not an issue. It comes apart very easily for cleaning or installation of filters, once required. In addition to that, it was easy to mount on my wall with the guide provided which made up part of the packaging box which was a nice touch, and if not mounting the stand works just fine too. I love the design of it, allowing it to be an accentuating stylish feature of the room decor as opposed to appearing as another appliance.As mentioned, the price of the replacement filters is also a huge positive in consideration of this product.I have had it running for most hours of the day since purchasing it. I regret I had not purchased it sooner.I have been enthusiastically recommending this to family members and friends. A great purchase.
