We purchased the wall shelf for our teenage son for Christmas and he LOVES it! He immediately built it himself so I'm assuming it was quite easy to assemble. It doesn't feel cheap or flimsy.Another great IKEA purchase!

Nice product. Easy to put together. Sturdy material. You have to be a person a photographic memory to assemble (no written instructions). I would love for IKEA to bring back the black lacquer color instead of this black/brown color, that the only downside of all the good things is that it doesn't come in lots of colors.

Built it to Display my shoe collection and some electronics accessories on there. Fairly easy to install. However, the best is to get them while they’re on sale. I got the oak color for $84 when the white ones were sold out, had to get the white ones eventually at $119, which I think is too much. At $100 is more reasonable price.
We bought this shelf in black brown to match our dresser we purchased earlier this year also in black brown and they are nothing alike. The Lack shelf is black! Please advertise correctly for those trying to match previously bought items.
I'd love to give this a 4 star review because it is a really cool shelf, but we had major problems after we installed it. We put it up as the instructions indicated: with the plate and the included screws, (which seemed really small for a shelf of that size). We were skeptical but figured Ikea knew what they were doing when it came to how to hang it. There is also nothing particularly different about our walls so we did what it said. It looked really great for about 15 minutes and then it came crashing down with everything on it. I had just been sitting on the floor underneath it, sorting through some items just moments before. The wall has two ripped sections and the screws bent completely. We should have followed our gut and gotten sturdier mounts. After the fact, we found the suggestion for buying other mounting types in small print at the beginning of the book (seems like this might need more prominence). There also seems to be no indication of the weight limit for the shelves. I don't believe I overloaded the shelves, but who knows because I can't find any indication of a weight limit. For now we are keeping the unit. We bought new screws to place into the studs. As a suggestion to Ikea, consider revising your instructions to give a more prominent warning. This can be dangerous if not done correctly. It would really be awful for an adult, child or pet to get hurt or worse.
My daughter desperately has been wanting these. Now we have 2 either side of her ikea dressing table and it looks so sleek and stylish and exactly what she wanted .Worry about if it was kept raised from the floor with the weight it would take (fish tank, small). So kept it on the floor with it been attached at the top and still looks great!
I created a built-in closet using Pax in black/brown. I’ve been able to add shelves and drawers for years knowing everything will match perfectly—until now. I realized for a while that I needed a bit more storage and now I regret having waited. I made the 3 1/2 hour round trip to Ikea and bought the Lack upright shelves and to my disappointment found they have changed the black/brown to mostly BLACK. Functionally it’s great, but I will never understand why Ikea messed with an established color. This item has lost its 5 star rating because it doesn’t match!😡

I thought about it & seen everyone have these shelves next to their vanities so to make my vanity look complete, I had asked for two of these shelves to put on each end of my vanity. It was super easy to assemble & made my vanity look super complete. After having it for 2 weeks I started to notice the shelves start to tilt over. So I made sure that specific shelf was empty. All I put on each of the shelves we’re my nice face && eye pallets& a few perfumes & a few decorations that go with my vanity decor. From an economic point of view this is a wonderful value proposition. To assemble it requires little skill and is rapid. The finished product is highly aesthetic and a delightful addition to a home. Above all else, it is highly functional and very effective.
