The instructions are so vague, the parts are almost identical to each other but with holes in slightly different places and some of the screws are so hard to get in it took two grown men all their strength to hold it up to get the positioning right. Took three of us just over 3 and a half hours to put it together. Can’t fault the bed but you need some kind of degree to be able to build it.

Just leaving this review in response to the many that mentioned holes not lining up. It would definitely be helpful if IKEA had labeled the poles with letters, but if you read the instructions/study the diagrams carefully everything DOES go together with holes aligning. :) We put together two of these yesterday and it took a very long time but there was minimal frustration as far as the design of the product. These are very solid - I hadn’t seen them in person before purchase and they’re sturdier than I expected them to be from photos.

Ikea delivery by ANC was easy and service was very good. Counted and ticked off all parts according to assembly instructions, then managed to assemble the bed in just under 2 hours without any issues at all.Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Fully assembled bed was very solid and excellent quality. Only needed 9yr old son’s help for 5min holding up the ends for final assembly. Son loves it.Make sure you tighten all the bolts and screws well. No squeaks 👍

About 5% of the holes are just *ever* so slightly out of alignment. Unless you have the muscle strength to bend thick, industrial-formed metal, prepare yourself for an extreme level of frustration.I've finally gotten the whole thing basically put together, but for the last 3 screws and 1 screw on the ladder. The holes just won't align. I don't think it's due to the metal expanding in heat as it hasn't been that hot over the course of the two days I've been trying to put this thing together. I will keep trying, but I'm concerned about safety if all the screws are not in place. The loft bed is nice and well made, all the material that come with it are of good quality, there are only 2 issues that I see, one the instruction manual is pretty much useless, you will have to do a lot of guess work and sometimes end up redoing somethings that you did as you missed a step. and the second one is that I took the loft bed with the study table as I wanted to put the table behind the ladder to climb to maximise the space below but you can't fit it as it there is bolt that need to go though it which upholds the leg of the table with proper alignment which is only at the other side. I made this bed along with my 2 sons and enjoyed the process a lot it took us 2 days to make it but it was fun :), if you enjoy doing such activities then of for it. It’s a process so be prepared for a whole day of building. I have a brain for IKEA instructions and my partner doesn’t so he found it confusing but I didn’t. They’re pretty standard IKEA instructions but because it’s a big, multi-step build, be prepared to get confused at points. They look great. Our ceilings are vaulted so the beds aren’t too tall if they weren’t, I don’t think they would work well. Plus now that they’re built and being used, they squeak like CRAZY. With no plastic washers and no buffer between all the metal pieces, every time my kids move around it is SO SO loud. IKEA needs to add pads on the joints and contact points and provide plastic washers so it’s not just metal on metal. I was able to make a cozy book reading area under the loft bed and line the inside with books shelves.The minus star come down to the assembly itself. I was unable to put in the last few screws needed on the very last panel. The top and bottom holes just would not align. You either get the top screws in or the bottom screws, but not both. Luckily this area of the bed isn't one that supports weight and the panel still holds with half the screws in place, but that shouldnt happen. The design of this bed is exquisite. Unfortunately, when self-building a bed, exquisite may not be ideal. If it came with a complete with a team of Formula 1 mechanics with augmented reality headsets and real-time comms into the nethersphere, I would actually pay for that service.I have built many many many MANY wonderous IKEA creations over the past half century, but this bed has taken the Crown for the most frustrating build experience ever. I am not an Engineer, but I am the son of an Engineer. I have never before actually considered calling it quits half way through and just drinking.

My son is 14 and I'm 200lbs and it feels super sturdy for either of us.The key is to HALF screw in everything and at the VERY end tighten everything and it's rock sturdy.HOWEVER I find the wood slats weak so I reinforced them with some layers of flattened heavy duty cardboard boxes and now it's sturdy and strong, without the cardboard or plywood reinforcement, the slats had a bend when any weight was put on them. We have had other bunk beds and IKEA lifts over the years. I wasn't prepared for this version to be so overly complicated. We can put together and disassemble the old style very quickly. The main problem with this loft set is that there are NO labels on the pieces ..and there are many pieces and you will spend a lot of time trying to differentiate all the different pieces. The lengths of metal all come in little bags..they should have been labeled so you could refer to the instructions and match the numbers....this is honestly so out of pocket for IKEA it's shocking. I would not order again. The fabric portions are also a disappointment. IKEA should revert back to older designs that included solid pieces that you just put together with ease
