Illy Frother - Black - Milk Frother

Works well. Looks good. Easy to clean up after. 3 frothing bits (2 can be kept at bottom of heater). The flat one gives less froth but I prefer it. The metal cup is easy to clean up. There’s no non-stick coating, and I prefer it this way. The start buttons (3 options) are touch ones with indicator lights. That’s neat.

Fantastic Milk Frother!

The Illy Milk Frother makes perfect creamy foam. This works much better than the Nespresso frother I previously owned and is much easier to clean. The jug detaches from the base for easy cleaning and the opening is wide enough to get your hand and sponge in.I love the design. It's footprint is not huge. The stainless jug is easy to handle and to clean. I prefer using stainless steel. I was worried about the frother blades being plastic but they are very heavy duty. Both the latte and cappuccino options produced a milk to foam ratio that was perfect. The milk gets hot but not scalding. I tried the cold milk option with the flat blade and the milk was still cool with a small amount of nice froth.I did find the preparation select buttons a bit awkward. They do not light up when the machine is plugged in so you have to tap under the "Illy logo" to get them to illuminate. If you choose the wrong function, you can press the button again to stop the machine. This is not a big deal nor a reason to avoid purchasing this machine as it works so well. The resulting milk foam/froth is worth it.I am fussy about my cappuccinos and lattes and this machine is fabulous. I use my Illy espresso machine paired with this frother and I have enjoyed some of the best espresso drinks I have ever had.I highly recommend it.

Great Frother

I've had this for about two months and so far am very happy with it. I cannot comment yet on how well it will hold up over time.PROS: very easy to clean, extremely thick froth, large capacity to froth milk for more than one coffee, comes with extra blade.CONS: I wish it had a setting for slightly less froth when desired. You can get around this by turning it off early but then the milk might not be hot enough if you turn it off too soon.

Horrible screeching sound

I like everything about it except the fact that it makes an obnoxious loud screeching noise anytime it's operating. It functions well, but it truly sounds like a dying cat the entire time. I can't believe no one else is bothered by the sound. Maybe mine is defective.

I am obssessed with this!

I am genuinely surprised at how much I love this product! I read a review elsewhere that said the illy milk frother operated very quietly and was great with plant-based milk, two features which were most attractive to me. I completely agree! The machine very quietly heats up and foams/froths my mix of flavored creamer & almond milk in the mornings and the foam is absolutely delicious on a hot latte! It's incredibly simple to use, too. So glad I went out on a limb and made this purchase!

Illy frother works great

Works very well. It is much better than the Breville BMF600XL, which I replaced for the Illy Milk Frother. The Illy frother has a more stable platform on the base with larger heating pad. The Illy frother is quiet, much quieter than the Breville. The major negative is there is no way to lock the touch buttons from accidental activation, since the frother is always on when plugged in.

Manufacturing Defect, Bad Customer Service

This machine was defective when we got it. When turning it on, it runs for a few seconds, makes a loud noise, and then stops. We're not sure how to get it to work other than to remove the frothing attachment, put it back on, and press down with force, which works every one out of three times. We called customer service to get a replacement. The representative had us cut milk frother's electrical cord in order to get our replacement. Only after we cut the cord did the representative tell us that they would not replace our black and stainless steel frother, but would only send us the cheaper white version. To add insult to injury, they wanted us to pay sales tax on our replacement, and could only offer to send us "complimentary" coffee. We told her that we are not paying sales tax on a replacement for the defective product we were sold, which is in violation of their own warranty. She said she would have her manager speak to us, who has still not called us since she was "in a meeting" at the time. It is ridiculous that we had to wait on the phone for an hour, only to render our machine inoperable per Illy's instructions and not receive a replacement or even a call back.

Perfect for home!

This was a replacement for the Breville model. It has a smaller footprint, and the design is great. It's nearly silent where my old one was very loud when frosting the milk. It also makes a perfect foam. I was worried that it wouldn't make it hot enough because it only has three settings. The hot feature is definitely hot. The little jug feels durable But I would recommend handwashing everything to keep it looking nice.

The WORST customer support

Within a year of purchasing the illy electric milk frother it started to fail. Not to worry - so I thought -since it had a one year warranty backed by illy. From the date of my initial contact for a warranty claim it took 7 MONTHS to receive the replacement! Endless emails and calls ending in frustration. I finally received the replacement but I promise you I will NEVER pay for another illy product. Best to consider their inept customer service before purchasing.

There is no better Milk Frother on the market.

The Frother is so compact it disappears on the kitchen counter. Perfect for a small kitchen. This frother makes retail quality frother for your coffee. It is perfect every time. Customer service actually answers the phone they are kind concerned and so helpful. I give this frother as anniversary and birthday gifts now. It is truly the best on the market.
