Insta360 Pro 2 Spherical VR 360 8K Camera

This is my second Insta360: I also have the Pro I.First, let me alert B&H customers that for the Pro II to function, you *must* have 6 microSD cards installed. As far as I can tell, this key fact is not indicated on B&H's product page. In trying to test the device yesterday, I wasted a lot of time before I was able to learn from Insta360's helpline (thank you, Cindy!) that this was the cause of my error message about not having a storage device, despite the fact that I had an SD card installed. So, if you buy the camera, be sure to purchase the 6 mandatory microSD cards at the same time if you don't already have them. Like the SD card, they must be V30 certified, so pay attention to that, too.Regarding the performance, the Pro II has some improvements over the Pro I, but I have noticed something disappointing as well: even with SanDisk Extreme PRO level cards (170 MB/s), it takes an inordinate amount of time for the Pro II to write the data of an 8k pano shot JPEG+RAW to the disks. With the Pro I, I could take a shot, and the camera was ready for the next shot within a minute. With the Pro II, it takes an average of 3-4 minutes. (In case anyone is wondering, I had the camera's onboard real-time stitching feature turned off.) If you have a lot of shots to take, this will really slow you down.That said, the quality of the 8k panos is quite nice, and there is no competing device in the same price range.

I rented this camera, for three days for a professional training video shoot, and Architecture documentation job, and this was my experience.Not a professional camera. I do not recommend this camera if you expect to capture anything more than a solo basic, non-paying set of images. It's a toy.Farsight was unreliable. Shot in 15 different locations, inside and out, dropped or didn’t work.Built-in WiFi was not very long range, but at least it reconnected when in range and wasn’t too much of a battery suck.Live stream mode stops after 15 min of record time. Did Not save settings from the last shot.The standby fan is excessively loud.Unreliable, and no real pro monitoring solution, even when paired with HDMI & a Bolt 1000. God forbid, you wanted to swap media anywhere but a cleanroom. Have fun finding a tiny card in some large gravel...Live stitching was poor even after calibration.Card speed test after swap took a good 30seconds.No f-stop adjustment, or ND solution.Randomly would switch to 3D or 2D between takes.Stills- quick capture, only complaint is having to double-check settings every time you take a photo. Random raw+jpg change between shots.Great for quick solo capture, but don’t expect to see anything during recording unless you are right next to it in the shot...
