This is my 3rd Instant Pot and my favorite one. I bought my first one almost 7 years ago and gave it to my mom when I got this larger one with sous vide capabilities. I just used the sous vide to do a chuck roast that came out as tender as prime rib. I often use it for yogurt too. If you don't know where to begin I recommend Six Sisters Instant Pot recipe videos and also Tried, Tested and True videos. Both can be found on YouTube. I love my Instant Pot so much I also have one at work. We work 12 hour shifts and cook when we can. Several of the girls at work have bought one because of loving what I made in mine.

While I cannot speak about durability as I've not owned mine long, others seem to adore theirs for years and, many purchase additional pots expanding their collection. I can see why. There are many positive reasons for an Instant Pot. At first I was afraid of the steam, however the included rice paddles have a little notch in the handle if you want to release at a distance the first few times before becoming acclimated. The fact that I was able to successfully tackle the combo of frozen fish, uncooked rice and raw veggies from start to finish in exactly 2 minutes cook time was more than enough to addict me at the initial use. Here are my pros for making an Instant Pot my new best friend: 1. Compact for having 6 quart capacity and attractive in the kitchen. 2. A seemingly endless number of recipes with more always coming from pot enthusiasts the world over. Just search any recipe you can imagine with, "Instant Pot" proceeding it. Example, "Instant Pot pizza," and so on. 3. Seems to work well with the majority of accessories I already own in my kitchen but others are available. 4. Clean-up: I can clean this pot faster than I could load the pots and pans in the dishwasher, however it is dishwasher safe. And, the only maintenance is eventual replacement of the inner lid ring. 5. "One Pot Meal" no longer means that everything is mixed together. I can create multiple items, up to about 5 or 6 different foods in one pot using my various small pans, separators, steamer inserts and so on. 6. It's incredibly easy to learn to use. 7. It uses little energy and doesn't heat up the kitchen. One can quickly learn to omit the oven and stove top completely. 8. SPEED. What normally takes hours takes mere minutes. 9. Very little oil or fats are required to create taste. Healthy, natural meals have finally become easy and fast. Steam retains the nutrients. 10. I can now make foods I never thought possible - and lightening fast.

People recommended an InstaPot to replace my old rice cooker. They said it would cook rice and oatmeal even better than a rice cooker. Plus do many more tasks. With a rice cooker I put in my rice or oatmeal and hit the rice or oatmeal button. That's it. Comes out perfect. The cooker sets the correct time and temperature. The Instapot instructions say to cook oatmeal for "1 min to 1 hour." I looked up a recipe online for the correct setting. It has burned the oatmeal every time. Rice was overcooked and mushy. Just tried to steam some tamales. Instructions said to hit the steam button. There is no steam button. A website suggested to use saute button instead. Worked for a bit, then an error message came on. I fixed what should have been the problem and it still won't ... MorePeople recommended an InstaPot to replace my old rice cooker. I waited way too long to buy an instant pot but I'm making up for lost time by using it to cook EVERYTHING now. My least favorite part of cooking meals with meat is that you have to watch over them until they're done, then quickly take them off the heat before they dry out. Not so with the Instant Pot - throw everything in, set the timer and let it cook - everything comes out buttery and moist every time and I can do other things while dinner is cooking. I love the 8 quart size because we're a cook once and eat leftovers for another 2-3 days kind of family so we can scale up our favorite recipes in here. I haven't used many of the features yet but it's worth it for the saute, slow cook, and pressure cook features alone. And I love that nothing sticks to the pot ... MoreI waited way too long to buy an instant pot but I'm making up for lost time by using it to cook EVERYTHING now. If you're on the fence, I promise you won't regret it. Just buy it and commit to making your first instant pot dish the first week you have it. There are tons of recipes online and on Pinterest. I felt a little intimidated reading through the instructions, but after I went through the setup and cooked with it once, I became completely confident using it.
They packed well and received in good condition. This is working good and no issues seen so far. Cooks well and no complaints. We mainly use it for cooking Biryani. We are getting good quality Biryani from this cooker. We have many timer options and we can play with that till we get to know the actual time needed.I love this and recommend to buy from Boscov's as they are offering with a decent price.
Since getting my Duo Plus 6 Qt Instant Pot a few weeks ago, I have tested the waters, so to speak, with ribs, chili, whole potatoes (sweet, white, and red), broccoli, beets, chicken cacciatore, chicken breasts, chicken thighs, whole chicken, and macaroni and cheese. Most things turned out great. I'd say I have to do some more experimenting the with the mac 'n cheese, but it was still good. There is a learning curve, just like anyone who was used to conventional cooking methods and had to learn how to use a microwave. It is best not to assume you know how to use it and to do some research on how it operates in various modes. I found a lot of helpful information by using Google and also YouTube. There is a learning curve, just like anyone who was used to conventional cooking methods and had to learn how to use a microwave. It is best not to assume you know how to use it and to do some research on how it operates in various modes. I found a lot of helpful information by using Google and also YouTube. I also like the fact that the Instant Pot has a durable, stainless steel inner pot. I don't have to worry about scratching the coating as one would with many of the non-stick interiors. My first pot was defective, and I was a bit concerned that I was going to end up with a dud pot. However, Will B. in customer service was very responsive and got me set up with replacement parts, which arrived quickly and are working beautifully. I'm not going to let that take away from my score of the product. It was a defect sensor, and that can happen with anything that is mass produced. You have to remember that this is computer controlled, and we've all had our share of computer issues. On the flip side, that fact that it is controlled intelligently by its 'brain' is the reason the pot is basically 'set it and forget it', once you program it for pressure cooking. The fact that the company took care of the issue immediately gives me faith in the product. I never gave much thought to getting an Instant Pot. However, now that I have it in my possession and have used it for a variety of cooking tasks, I can say that it is a kitchen appliance that will not sit idle in my kitchen. I highly recommend adding one to your household.
Look into many insta pots also checked the web for cooking tips recipes and anything else that I could use it for. It was a bit scary only because you hear about pressure cookers. So glad I bought it as it makes cooking so much faster and easy peasy. Made potato salad and this saved me so much time. Potatoes took 14 minutes boiled eggs 4 minutes. All I needed to do was mixed ingredients. Perfect for beans, vegetables soups, meats and anything else you need to make. Definitely recommend it!
New to pressure cooking. Bought the Instant Pot to replace a rice cooker. The next thing I knew, Instant Pot accessories and cookbooks were on the list of new purchases.Cooking a variety of foods with IP is now activity of choice. It’s been less than a month since delivery- already thinking about the air fryer.Only drawback; some of the preset settings don’t cook titled food at varying weights. Weight amount must correspond to preset time- for some one touch features.
I followed the directions and did the pressure test which worked fine. Then I tried a recipe that called for using the saute function. I pressed the saute button, it went on and then went off after 45 sec to a minute witout ever heating up. Unplugged it, plugged it in again. Same problem. I took it back to BBB for an exchange but they didn't have any more. They suggested since the pressure cook was working, keep it until the next shipment comes in and then return it. Since then, the pressure cook has stopped working. My local grocery store got a shipment in, so I purchased the same one there. I also purchased the 3qt size. Got home, did all the proper procedures and again, the saute would not work. No I was not doing anything wrong. They said I should send them a video of what happens, but to keep it short. Really????? I took it back to the grocery store with no problem. The 3qt worked just fine in all areas. So I will now be returning the original one to BBB and not asking for an exchange. Having the same problem after buying from 2 different locations tells me there is something wrong in the manufacturing process. Buyer beware!BTW, I have no complaints about BBB. Just InstantPot.
I bought this fulfilling my temptation to start pressure cooking with all the recipes, books and online content readily available now for pressure cooking. I was a complete novice, scared of complicated terms or process, or worse for something to go dangerously wrong. NO FEAR, I read the instructions, watched a few online videos to make sure that the seal was in place (so easy) and how to do the water test. This device has many options for cooking although I've only used a few, safety features to make sure that you do everything right, is easy to use, plenty of room for food. I have made large pieces of meat like ribs and shredded chicken, hard boiled eggs and even tamales in a fraction of the time it takes to make them traditionally. There are plenty of recipes to follow and a few terms to familiarize yourself with, but it is quite easy to cook delicious food. Anyone curious or wants to start, definitely read the instruction, research a few sites/recipes online, do the water test and GET COOKING! Note: I did get one burn notice due to lack of water in bottom, and it depressurized and I was able to correct the problem immediately. No problem afterwards.
