most small pads you can find are around 22"x22" or so. they overlap this holder, but it will snap down over the pad if you don't mind some extra hanging over the edge. The first couple of nights, my pup thought it was a bed and peed on the side of the holder but I knew I needed something to hold the pad in place because she was bunching up the pads in her crate, doing her no good. Now she seems to get the idea. This small size one fits into half of her crate and her bed in the other half. I have a pop up type crate in I believe a medium size. It is about 3 feet long and a foot and a half high. Perfect for my 8 week old pug puppy. 4 stars of 5 because of not being able to use with universal pads.

I really wish I had known about this product earlier. My shitzu I trained to go on pad since she was a puppy. Put plastic runner and metal and the pads still leaked thru. This is a Wonderful item!!! Holds 2 pads. Just having a little trouble retraining her. She is getting there. Definitely recommend this!!! Product was exactly what they said!!! Excellent purchase!!!

This is the one and only holder that worked. We tried expensive units, drop downs, and litter. This is only thing our Maltipoo would use. We have 1 at front and another at back door so he always sees a place to go. Otherwise he won't go to this place but do it on the carpet. This has been the most difficult pup I have ever housebrokrn. But it is finally working about 75% and he is 10 months old. Glad I found this product.

Worry about taking your little one out at night with Bufo toads, bobcats, bears, and panthers roaming the neighborhood? This item can help you train your pup to go in one easy-to-maintain place on your caged lanai or balcony.
We have a 7 lb. Chihuahua that uses PP pads exclusively. We had put the pad directly on the floor but the pee would often roll off onto the floor, yuk. Then we got a piece of the plastic you use to put on stairs as a protective cover and put it under the pp pads. Problem is our dog loves to pee on the edge or corner and it would roll off onto the plastic and sometimes the floor so you still had to mop the floor daily and wipe down the plastic. We had tried a small pad tray but she didn't like it because there is not enough room to do little circles before going. I searched for a solution forget the live grass it is disgusting, smells and has bugs plus they dig at it and make a real mess. The fake grass is impossible to clean unless you put it in the tub or hose it ... MoreWe have a 7 lb. Chihuahua that uses PP pads exclusively. I searched for a solution forget the live grass it is disgusting, smells and has bugs plus they dig at it and make a real mess. The fake grass is impossible to clean unless you put it in the tub or hose it off, a real pain and cumbersome. We finally got this pad tray that takes the IRIS 23 1/2x 35 1/2 pads that fit perfectly. It is wonderful!! The tray necessitates she pee in the center of the pad, no more leaks, no more wiping up the floor it works perfectly. I am so sorry I didn't find this sooner. They will scratch at it for a while at the beginning but this tray really holds the pad down and it doesn't take long for them to stop. It only took one day with our girl praising her when she went, to learn to go on it. She goes through one pad a day. Occasionally she makes a little drip on the frame that is easily wiped when changing the pad. This is the answer to your problems for a small dog as long as you have an area 25"x38" to put it in.
I purchased this tray for my 6 month old Chihuahua. She uses it...sometimes but mostly she treats it as a chew toy. Almost immediately she will have the pad ripped to shreds & she has chewed the end tabs that are suppose to hold the tray together off.My suggestion for making this tray more durable would be to make the tabs that hold the tray & liner in place longer & thicker & also not just on the two ends but on the sides as well. It is getting very expensive having to replace the tray so often because the tabs are chewed off. I'm still looking for a tray that can stand up to a 6 month old Chihuahua!
Easy clip on and clip off on the sides! And is washable. I highly recommend this but if your pets pees big sizes then I recommend a much bigger size. No spills because of the walls it has!
We started off with just wee wee pads. But her pee kept running off the edges onto the hardwood floor. Or she would just pee on the floor sometimes deliberately. It took a little while for her to get used to going on this platform. But it's been a really positive. The only reason why I did not give it five stars is because the height profile is a little bit high. And it does make it daunting for a small dog. But with positive reinforcement of treats every time she used it, we've had success. It has saved my hardwood floors from extra pee spillover.
After my 2, 6 month old Pomeranian brothers delighted in continuously shredded disposable pee pads, I switched to Rocket and Rex 30x 36 washable pads in hopes of detouring them. This still did not stop them. They would grab them and run or rumple them up while playing and then urinate on the floor next to them because they were not laying out flat. I even tried double-sided carpet tape and weights! Nothing worked. I bought a 3 pack of Iris training pad holder, blue, that holds 23.5 x 35.5, which fold in the center and these have been great. I wish I would have found them sooner!! Even though the pads I use are larger than the tray, i am able to fold them over to fit and lock them in. I would think that it would hold disposable pads securely as the are also 3 holders ... MoreAfter my 2, 6 month old Pomeranian brothers delighted in continuously shredded disposable pee pads, I switched to Rocket and Rex 30x 36 washable pads in hopes of detouring them. Accidents have still occurred if the pups don't get completely on the tray but these have been few and far between. I would completely recommend them!
I would give this 5 starts but there's been a few times it seemed to latch and didn't so then my little dog who has brain disorder and kind of drags her back feet has ended up dragging the top because it wasn't fully latched even though it seemed to be. I do wish there was a rub sticky mat at the bottom to hold the pads better. however for my pup it works great and helps her not get all into it.
