I can’t stand high proof whiskey as I can’t get past the bite of 100+ proof whiskey. 45-47% is right in my wheelhouse and this whiskey delivers in every way. The single barrel release helps refine the Jack flavors of vanilla and banana. Also has a good oily mouth feel. Don’t get tricked by Gentlemen Jack and Old 7. These guys no how to make an excellent sipper. Plus how could you not want a bottle design like this on your shelf. This bottle is a steal under $50 like it is at TW. This goes up to $60 at other retailers.

(As opposed to the artificial banana runts note I get in old No. 7) Mouth watering. silky viscous mouthfeel with huge prickly oak tannins in the side and back palate.Ive had a few of these so far and the above core notes are all consistently there but in varying balance. Wide variability on the proof too. I previously had a 147 proofer that was straight fire and I could not drink without adding a splash of water or ice but my current bottle is 131 proof and drinks well below its stated proof. Try it you won’t be disappointed. There are fewer better values in American Whiskey right now.

I've never liked Jack Daniels, or Tennessee whiskey. I hate to admit it, but this is beautiful. There's a slight hint of something that always brings banana nut bread to mind. It doesn't taste exactly like that, but there's a hint of something in the background that reminds me of that.I'm not good at describing tasting notes, but this has all the qualities of a perfect bourbon, with none of the issues that make me dislike the entry-level Jack Daniels whiskey.If I didn't know better, I might even think this could be from Kentucky. It's that good.And look at that bottle. Just look at it.Buy some right now. Or leave more for me. I'm cool with either one.

What I consider to be by far the best offering from Jack Daniels, Single Barrel takes everything that one could consider harsh or negative about Black Label and replaces it with itself. It has a lovely, smooth flavor that is easy to drink while yet packing a punch, and the aftertaste pleases the taste senses. The only drawback that comes to mind is that it is significantly more expensive than entry-level and mid-level whiskeys. The bottom line is to try this if you despise JD Black Label. Your opinion will most surely be altered by it.
1st time trying a Tennessee whiskey. I think bourbons & whiskeys taste best around the 92 to 104 proof. But that's me.So I had to try this single barrel 94 proof.All in all I have to give this a solid 3.5 star rating really. For less $$, Maker's 46 is a better drink & buy all day long !But back to the Jack...TotalWine says intense, it's not. They say Toast, there is that cereal-grain-toast lingering lightly. But it is not that complex, thin-ish viscosity mouth feel.There is the bright fruits & the basics of the Vanilla & Carmel. The woody oak barrel comes & goes quick. The whole sip doesn't stay long at all. But what does stay a little long is the Jack Daniel's charcoal filtering. It's ok, it's over priced & there is better stuff out there for less.

This is my favorite sipping bourbon. I absolutely hate everything about regular jack daniels, taste, smell are just yuck to me. This single barrel tastes like it came from somewhere other than jack daniels! There is no similarity to the OGJD at all! I found myself craving the flavor of the single barrel after initially tasting, the abv is not even present as far as a burn it is so easy to drink neat. So grateful curiosity made me just taste it to see what all the hype was about, the distillers at JD really did an outstanding job with this one

For a moment I was getting a partially used cigarette, that combination of light ash with charred tobacco and the heavy oily smoke coating the unspent leaves in the paper.Taste: surprisingly thin for 47%, or easy drinking if we're to put a top spin on it. ethanol is still carrying the sweetness which does taste a bit like honeysuckle. again with the earthiness and herbal. fruit notes are pretty thin here. After trying Gentleman Jack and the normal Jack Daniels No. 7, I wasn't sure what to anticipate, but the first sip really blew me away. It has the same banana-forward DNA as other Jack Daniel products, but it is MUCH more refined; it isn't as overwhelmingly sweet as Old No. 7, and it doesn't have the bitter aftertaste.It's just a shame that many look down on Jack Daniels because of Old No. 7. They have earned my respect with this specific expression. It is not an aggressive whiskey and is incredibly approachable for new whiskey consumers, particularly for those with a sweet palate.
I bought this bottle for something special for us for Christmas and it is amazing. I never thought such a high proof whiskey could be so smooth. I've bought more expensive whiskeys but, my opinion, this one blows them away. I wasn't much of a whiskey drinker, especially on the rocks, until Covid hit and I started experimenting different liquors. I found I like the specialty flavored whiskeys and rums but this one is my favorite regular whiskey by far. It has a great flavor, very smooth, and pleasing. Perfect for sipping on the rocks. I highly recommend this one.
