Purchased this product on 21st July, It is a basically a 5.1 channel device. Though the Bar 800 played Atmos, we are shocked to see that it does not support even previous gen DTS legacy formats like DTS 5.1 / HD /+, or any file with DTS codec. The bar clearly mentions "not supported" on the display. For such a premium product, coming from the stables of a purely music oriented company like JBL, such a thing is least expected. On reaching out to the company, the information we get is that this model only supports Dolby Atmos. Their website / Spec sheet doesn't even list any other codec other than Dolby Atmos.Even the demo unit installed in many offline shops in Croma / Reliance does not allow the buyer to test the compatibility using a flash drive on the connected ... MorePurchased this product on 21st July, It is a basically a 5.1 channel device. How is the buyer supposed to know this information, that no version of DTS is supported on this model? Even the Salesman says he was not aware until the issue was raised. This is level of awareness given to the salesman let alone the buyer. My conclusion is JBL cannot be trusted, It does not allow the customer to make a informed decision. In this scenario you must allow us to return the product.

I had to turn the bass down a little for everyday use as it’s quite powerful. The first thing I noticed was the background music, it’s really crisp and clear but doesn’t interfere with hearing dialogue, which is very clear as well, due to the PureVoice technology, which really works. I had to put subtitles on sometimes as I couldn’t make out what’s being said, but not any more thankfully. It’s great have the option of having detachable rear speakers for the surround sound effect but it’s also nice to be able to leave them attached to the soundbar.Overall I love my new soundbar. Watching movies with Dolby Atmos sound is a great experience and makes you feel right in the centre of the action. The only thing I’d change about the whole experience is the polystyrene in the packaging, it’s really not acceptable.

You can also install an app and do things like calibration and change volume etc. (for when you lose the remote down the sofa). After calibrating in the app, the 3D effect sounded surprisingly convincing. I even looked at my ceiling without thinking. If you can find Dolby atmos content (Netflix, Disney+) it sounds great on this system. The height channel works very well, the upwards firing speakers work pretty well actually.Even if audio is 2 channel the rear speakers will still produce sound. Dialogue is much clearer subtitles are no longer required. It also goes very loud without breaking up/distorting.Only complaints is the bass is a tad heavy even when turned down and the rear speakers only have 3 volume levels I do find myself wishing they were a little louder with some content.Music also sounds great, has integration directly to some music services like Spotify, and Tidal. Also has Chromecast Audio, and Airplay2. Works with Google pretty well too, add it to your home group and then can include it as part of speaker groups. You can control audio via Google Home. It has Alexa integration but I don't have Alexa so I can't say how well that works. I really like it for playing music, especially with the rear speakers. It would be nice to have more granular control as it comes with an app. Such as being able to control if rears are silent if there's no rear channels are provided or 'stats for nerds' so I can see what the audio input is, codec, channels, etc. to enable troubleshooting.Tl;dr: Feature packed, great sounding speakers with some minor compromises that work very well and easy to set-up.

I am, and have always been, a lover of sound. My first JBL product was the JBL Charge 4 which was mind-blowingly powerful sound and enduring battery life from such a portable speaker. I did not think it could get much better than that until I tried the JBL Bar 800. If you love sound like me, you will not regret this purchase. Is it expensive? Yes. But is it worth every single penny? A thousand times, yes!Positives:-This thing is LOUD. My neighbours probably hate me, and I love that.-On the other end of the spectrum, the sound quality at its lowest is fantastic! This is my first time seeing a device perform so well at low volume, and the level to which it can go low is astonishing considering how loud it is also able to perform-The "360" feature of this system ... MoreI am, and have always been, a lover of sound. This is my first time seeing a device perform so well at low volume, and the level to which it can go low is astonishing considering how loud it is also able to perform-The "360" feature of this system with the side speakers is incredible to be in the midst of, but also has surprising benefits, one being when using the speakers at low volume. I don't live alone so I can't have the music loud most of the time (I also don't want it loud all the time) and the fact that the side speakers also play music means that I can move around my room and still hear the music at the same level despite being further from the main bar.-The UI and UX of the app are unlike other brand apps, it is quite simple and satisfying to use. The remote control feature on the app is very useful because I can't always be bothered to get up and get the remote!-Music app connectivity is amazing. I use Spotify and I can play music from the speakers even when it is not switched on, simply by selecting the speakers in the app. Nifty!Negatives:-Setup was much more time-consuming than I am used to, but considering that this is a beast of a machine it also makes sense that it won't be that quick. The steps were easy enough to follow, but things like connecting to the speakers through the app, especially calibration, took a long time.-While I haven't measured exactly, the side speakers probably last around two days on one charge. That's not bad, but I listen to music every day so it can be a bit annoying having to attach them back to the main bar to charge. This would probably be less annoying if I put them back on the main bar after using them, but I can't be bothered

You can regulate it in 5 stages and also you can switch it off completely if you don't like bass so much or simply not to disturb your neighbours and I think it's great. The set up was very straight forward. It's very elegant with its simple design. User friendly remote as well as the app which is not necessary to use but if you want to experience really wide functionality of your new soundbar and calibrate it then download it from Apple Store or Google play. You can link it with any voice assistance device like Alexa or Google which makes it even more fun and easy to use! Overall it is amazing sound equipment! Brings listening to your favourite music or watching movies to another level! I would recommend to everyone who is looking to buy a soundbar!
Had a home cinema system many years ago. I remember it was a pain trying to hide all the speaker wires and the amount of dust it collected at the back of the receiver. I got rid of it when I moved as I could not face setting it up, plus was decorating and it would all get in the way. I got used to the speakers on the TV. Technology has moved on since then, and when soundbars first came out, I didn't see the point of just a speaker in front of the tv. I settled on JBL 800 because I wanted True Dolby Atmos® Surround Sound.I was surprised at how big and heavy the box was, in the box is everything you need including a HDMI and wall brackets. I decided to look around at what was out there and was delighted to see more wireless options. I settled on JBL 800 because I wanted True Dolby Atmos® Surround Sound.I was surprised at how big and heavy the box was, in the box is everything you need including a HDMI and wall brackets. FIrst it was a breeze to set up, just plugged it in and connected to the TV. I downloaded the JBL app so I checked if there were any updates, the app walked you through the setup, the quick guide is also easy to understand if you did not want to use the app. The rear speakers easily slot to the end of the soundbar and you can leave them there if you wish, they also can be charged this way or you can use a USB-C. I opted for the version with detachable rear speakers so placed then in the room as recommended, the subwoofer is plugged in but then connected to the soundbar by Bluetooth. I choose to connect a games console directly to the soundbar using the HDMI in connection. The sound is amazing, I had forgotten how bad the speakers tend to be on TVs, the bass from the subwoofer is just right without being too much, though the level can be changed. One thing I noticed when playing games through the console is new sounds that were not coming through the TV speaker, just makes the gaming experience even better. And I now listen to music through the soundbar which can easily be streamed through one of many services. Dolby Atmos® Surround Sound is great when watching films, I initially had an issue with the audio being out of sync, however this was soon resolved through the settings my TV.
I always thought that I don’t need a sound bar for the TV. I’m pleasantly surprised and impressed by JBL Bar 800. The manual is user friendly and even if you don’t have much experience with latest technologies it has step by step instruction that will help you with installation. It came with all the fittings that you need for wall installation. The whole system requires 2 power outlets as subwoofer and sound bar has separate plugs. Thanks to build in Bluetooth it was very easy to connect to my tv and phone. You can easily connect to the JBL Bar 800 from your device anywhere in your home. This product reaches me a fairly novice Sound Bar User, I was a little apprehensive with this when unpacking from the box. However I need not of been, the instruction although no the easiest to follow, were sufficient for me to set up and start using immediately. The produced ascetically is very please all in black and with few wires on show. It fits nicely with my TV.The product consists of a main bar, a subwoofer and two satellite surround sound speakers which were wireless powered by battery which was very handy meaning I could move them round easily to find the best placing. These could be either charged using a USB Connection or attached at the end of the main bar via magnets to recharge, when not recharging there are some great covers for the ends of the bar ... MoreThis product reaches me a fairly novice Sound Bar User, I was a little apprehensive with this when unpacking from the box. It fits nicely with my TV.The product consists of a main bar, a subwoofer and two satellite surround sound speakers which were wireless powered by battery which was very handy meaning I could move them round easily to find the best placing. These could be either charged using a USB Connection or attached at the end of the main bar via magnets to recharge, when not recharging there are some great covers for the ends of the bar and also the magnet connections on the satellite speakers. The subwoofer offered a great level of bass sound and was suitably powerful for the set up.All speakers can be adjusted together or separately using the supplied remote control which again was easy to use.The sound quality is where this system excels picking out voices when there was a lot of other sound, music through this system was hi-fi quality and the power levels were exceptional to a point where I could not turn up anywhere near maximum. The only flaw for me is that when the bar has the satellites on the ends charging this became very long only just fitting in the space I had for it.
I had never thought a sound bar would exceed my expectations but the JBL 800 has. Most either have too much base or the audio isn’t clear. This has been a game changer for me. The set up was very straight forward and it lends itself to you finding the best balance for what you need. The detachable rear speakers snap on and off perfectly plus easily; and come couple with covers to give the units a very nice aesthetic finish. Operating the unit is simple as it comes with a remote and there’s also an app you can download. The app allows for calibration and tweaking of the equalizer setup. The acoustics are fantastic and the base brilliant. Not to harsh when playing hip hop music, but the kids and tops come out crisp when playing classical music or jazz as an example.I ... MoreI had never thought a sound bar would exceed my expectations but the JBL 800 has. Not only could it separate it beautifully but it allowed me the freedom to have multiple DJ’s at the gathering either via Bluetooth or AirPlay. Shortly before the end we were able to catch up on a game of football and the crowd noise and commentator came through clear and crisp. Next up on my list is to immerse myself in gaming with these and see how much it will bring everything to life.I would highly recommend these whether you are a sound engineer or a novice - it will improve how you absorb and consume audio.
