Absolutely 💯 insane! I understand sound is subjective but I can say the bass is exceptional and the acoustics and highs are crystal clear without being tinny. The volume is also loud enough. I literally bought beats solo pros and solo 3s as well as beats studio and tried skull candy noise canceling. These jbls are far better than any of them and at a fraction of the cost. I loved them so much I bought the live 500bt over the ear too after I used the live 400bt a few times. You won't be disappointed I guarantee it. The only complaint I have, which is not that big of an issue, is they have a special charging port. But a cord comes provided with the headphones. Quality and craftsmanship is excellent as well. Pairs quickly and easily to phone.

These headphones were stunning when I bought them (They were my first pair of Bluetooth headphones). I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone as they have features such as Ambient awareness, Talk through (Like Transparency mode on Airpods Pro/Max). I had used these headphones daily for about 3 months till they gave me problems with the Bluetooth. They wouldn't connect to any of the devices unless I use the headphone jack cord that came with the headphones. Due to using the headphone jack wire certain features couldn't be used. Hence why I replaced it with a black pair of these headphones. These sound pretty good for the money, the build quality is right up there with anything else at this price-point, they are also comfortable... but they drop their bluetooth connection constantly and are a giant headache.I'm very disappointed by these. They are very frustrating to use because whenever I connect them, I know I have to spend about 5 minutes fiddling with them to actually keep them connected.I've used them on several different devices, have reset the bluetooth module on my laptop to see if that would fix anything, etc. No luck. Other bluetooth speakers/headphones work just fine on this computer. These headphones are just bad. It comes with Ambient Awareness on straight out of the box, which is a feature that allows you to listen to your music while still maintaining a hearing of your surroundings. This could be used when you're running in the city or on the subway so if there's a car coming or somebody is talking, you can easily hear them. However, when this is on, it lowers the sound and you cannot experience a full volume listening. So, make sure that it is turned off if you're seeking more volume out of your headphones. (It can easily be turned on and off with the click of a button on the right earmuff). The Google Assistant works very well and it is consistent. (It can easily be turned on and off with the click of a button on the right earmuff). The Google Assistant works very well and it is consistent. One tap on the left earmuff will tell you the new notifications and it can easily be activated by saying "Okay Google". This is unbelievably convenient when you don't want to take out your phone to access important information. The sound is amazing. It has the classic punchy JBL bass (great lows), especially when used with the JBL headphones application. The vocals and the overall mids are good as well. The app is very useful with the new update and it really allows you to get the best out of your headphones. So easy to customize and create numerous sound presets for different genres with the equalizer. You can easily hear the 808s in Hip-Hop tracks when the "bass" preset is selected in the app.The battery life isn't actually 24 hours, at least for me. I got around 20 to 22 hours, of course, we all use our headphones differently and you can easily achieve the 24-hour battery life with a different use. However, it definitely charges fast. The headband is comfortable with the mesh design and definitely appears cool. However, this mesh design might make it easier for the headband to get hooked to items in bookbags and mess the pattern (happened to my JBL Flip 4). I personally haven't experienced any problems, but writing about it just in case. The padding is decent. It is an on-ear design so it doesn't cover your entire ear and it isn't very soft, isn't that comfortable for long use (5+ hours). The headphones have a long range. I was able to place my phone on the side of the field and do soccer warm-ups. Then, placed my phone in the bedroom on the second floor and still had connection in the living room on the first floor. This is something you probably wouldn't do but you could if you wanted to. There's no information about the sweatproof or water resistance but I have no problems with it so far.To conclude, these sound amazing just like the rest of JBL & Harman products. You can, of course, use the headphones application to adjust the sounds to your taste. If you travel, forget to charge your devices and exercise a lot. Then, these might fit you well. The battery lasts long and it charges very quickly "extra 2 hours in 15 minutes". Voice assistant feature and tap to active are great if you're on the go or don't want to reach to your phone for a small action.

Great product - for someone else.
22 March 2022

I bought these headphones as a gift for my son - plus the accident protection plan. He preferred the on-ear style of headphones and the price/quality of JBL was hard to beat. When I originally purchased these for him he was 14 years old and, I think, fairly responsible for a teen. That being said, the way he put them on & took them off (using one hand) created a great deal of torque and the ear piece on one side ended up coming off. I was able to replace them but the following year I had to replace them again. Thank goodness for the protection plan!If you use both hands to take these off and on, I think you will be highly satisfied with them. They weren't a good option for my son, however.

Additionally there is no breathability and your ears can get sweaty and sore. The headband is not very flexible but the headphone connection to the band can rotate easily and the headphones are very compact once folded. The band on the white headphones stains easily - of course - even when you are careful with them and there is no way to clean them. The fabric on the top side with the JBL logo comes separated from the headband easily as well and there is no way to reconnect it. The pads on the ears are quite comfortable and soft but after some time they do hurt your ears and the fabric can tear. no part of the headphones can be removed or replaced without effort.I have replaced these headphones 1x already. The first time they lasted 7 months before something got caught in the headphones and they stopped extending. The sound would crackle when listening to certain files. The headphones were very dirty by that point as well.In my second pair after 2 months the volume up button broke. The buttons are 3 very close together small buttons with a raised button, and it got caught under the plastic casing with no way of fixing it. The sound quality remained on these headphones and i discovered that the headphones can connect to 2 separate devices at once - on one device you can listen to music until a phone call is received on the 2nd device and the music will stop and it will connect to the call.I have come to realise that perhaps 150 dollars is too low a bar for good headphones to expect them to not malfunction physically with the hardware after a short time. The warranty is 1 year and I have not even had 2 headphones for 1 whole year before something happened. The volume up and down buttons can also restart or skip a song. This may have lead to the increased wear as you need to hold the button down to activate the function.I do not recommend these headphones and would suggest either cheap headphones with the expectation that they may not last. or more expensive headphones for better quality.

I wanted to test these JBL Live 400 headphones because I've been frustrated with all types of cheaper headphones. In-ear ones fallout all the time and on-ear tend to hurt after a while.I was expecting these JBL Live 400 headphones to be comfortable and with some useful features that are simple to use.I turned the headphones on with a flick of a sliding switch. The blue flashing flight indicating the headphones were in pairing mode was easy to spot and my mobile device vibrated and indicated that it was trying to connect. After another quick vibration I was prompted to download the My JBL Headphones app.The app was easy to use with intuitive prompts to set up Google assistant. My first try of Talk Thru and Ambient Aware was fantastic. I'm not quite sure about the Google Assistant, when I press the button on the headphones the Google assistant just tells me the time and that I have no notifications or that the Google assistant isn't connected. The Ambient Aware is really good for listening to something like football commentary whilst still be able to hear what going on around you, and when I get used to the location of the button on the headphones Talk Thru will be great feature to switch to quickly. There are a few drawbacks. Unfortunately the instructions are too small and labelled as a quick start guide, which they are not. When music is playing and I press the Talk Thru button on the app the music goes too quiet for my liking. When I double press the action button on the headphones to activate the feature to ask the Google assistant, an Oriental tongue speaks a long sentence which I am unable to decipher. However, sound is good. Listening to bad guy by Billie Eilish was brilliant. It would be better if the button to access Google assistant notifications was used to access the Talk Thru facility because it is an easier button to locate on the headphones. The instructions could be clearer indicating which ear is left and which is right. I'm still not 100% sure that the L and R on the headphones are perhaps an L and B from the JBL logo.It is not obvious how to skip tracks using the buttons on the headphones ... I don't think it is possible without using my mobile device and if it is, it's certainly not intuitive. And finally my ears hurt after wearing them for any length of time. I think I need to get over ear headphones.

The buttons on the ear are numerous but don’t do a lot, they are also hard to get used to hitting the right one. Can be frustrating just trying to answer a call.Microphone crackles at times when on a call.Actual sound quality when listening is good.Range is good.Charge on full noise reduction isn’t as good as expected.Down graded from Beats Solo 2 so expectations may have been high. Still using my 3 year old broken Beats head phones as they last longer, have better mic and are so much more user friendly with 1 button to do more functions. And need charging far far less frequently.Over all the JBL’s are decent for the price but in future it is really worth spending the extra money on the Beats.

The sound is very good, better than most Bluetooth headphones in wired mode, but they don't have Apt X codec or a very good DAC ie. Electronic circuitry that turns a Bluetooth (digital) signal into audible (analog) sound, as good as high end Bluetooth headphones so i use them wired and that bypasses all the electronics of the headphones and only uses your phones (or any other device you plug them into) DAC for the analog signal that is fed to the speakers. Controls are functional and cable comes with play/pause/next/reverse in one in line button for wired mode, you don't turn on headphones when using cable. They seem to have great battery life and unlike my Sennheiser PXC 550's (that costed 160$ used) they don't use battery in wired mode or have noise cancelling saving battery even more. As far as sound isolation they are better then open back headphones and definitely don't leak as much sound but not anywhere close to a good noise cancelling pair. Good enough noise isolation as is for keeping out low to mid levels of noise from the outside. What a bargain for less than a hundred dollars, this is 100$ worth of headphones, but the play/pause and forward and backward controls are cheap because they get stuck and are hard to push at times.
