I received a generous sample of Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Eau De Toilette for my spouse in exchange for our honest opinion. I gifted this fragrance to my spouse. First impression was that I was surprised that it came in what appeared to be a can. I wasn't expecting that. Then when you pull out the bottom you reveal a beautiful blue colored man shaped bottle. Super sharp looking. The scent notes are said to be Mint, Lavendar and Vanilla. It is also advertised as being a lower intensity fragrance. What I noticed was a light and powdery clean scent that was gentle but lasting. For those who do not know, fougères have as predominant notes, combinations of lavender, bergamot, geranium, oakmoss, coumarin and amber. It is not necessary to have all these notes for a fragrance to be considered a fougère; but bergamot, oakmoss and lavender are virtually essential for a good fougère. On the other hand, I don't think it’s good for hot days, because the aroma doesn't match and the effect can be devastating, as it is a sweet, dry and strong fragrance. The evolution of this scent, at least on my skin, it's not the greatest, because I think it's quite linear from the start to the end. However, the trail and its durability on the skin are unique characteristics, which put it at the top of the perfumery world. I can guarantee, easily, between 8 to 12 hours of lasting! For those who don't know its aroma, there are some similar colognes on the market that, changing a little bit here and there, tried to imitate this classic fragrance, which is a big seller in the world, until nowadays. They are: Cuba Gold, 212 Sexy, Romero Britto, Jacomo Rouge, etc.

I’m a big fan. I got this from a free campaign today and so far I love it. I wore it this morning and I’ve already gotten countless complaints. The scent profile is lavender a vanilla spice and personally I think it suited better to our older demographic but I feel like it is a pretty well-rounded scent . I think that this scent is good for summertime and spring times maybe winter but I don’t think they sent would work so well and fall. The scent is definitely cool toned and very refreshing. I think it’s a crowd pleaser I would recommend it to anybody wanting a beginner fragrance but they like the spicy old enough scent, The atomizer is amazing and it has spectacular distribution. Even though it is made to be a male perfume and we both agree that it would fit a male better than a women, I do believe that it works perfectly fine for a woman. I, in fact, used it for a few days and I didn't feel like I was wearing a male perfume at all. Also, this perfume can be used throughout the year in my opinion and for any occasion. Jean Paul Gautier’s “Le Male” isn’t as masculine smelling as it’s name and packaging would suggest. I recently received this cologne to sample and gave it to my boyfriend to try. The scent is not for either of us. Don’t get me wrong, it is not a bad smelling cologne. However, for my nose, the scent of lavender is overpowering and there is a powdery quality to it, which is not for me. My boyfriend described it as “soapy”. I think this cologne could work as a more unisex scent. Personally, I prefer men’s colognes that are more musky and traditionally masculine smelling. With that being said, I think it still holds up pretty well and doesn’t smell too outdated. Upon my first spray, I instantly got hit with the mint note. I think the cinnamon is what helps this smell like a spicy vanilla lavender aroma and to me it's nothing like my other fragrances in my 25+ collection.
