The Dunlop 4181 Tortex standard guitar picks are very much worth their price. I have been using Dunlop Tortex picks for several years and found them to last as long as picks costing twice as much. Their various colors assist with easy identification of thickness. The tortex finish helps to grip them. If your like me and sometimes use the picks inverted, these cooperate well. AMS has a very competative price and does ship them free of charge for shipping.

Dunlop Tortex Standard .50mm at a steal of a price! Great value.

Dunlop 418R-50 Tortex Standard .50mm are my pick of choice. For me they are the right balance soft enough to not be too harsh and hard enough to get the volume when playing my Epiphone Texan VS at home or in a large space. Happen to finally find the "Dunlop 418R-50 Tortex Standard .50mm Red Guitar Picks 72-pack" at a great price and swooped in to grab two packs as others borrow picks, lose picks and my kids use them when they are playing too. Can't have enough of them around. Sorry no picture as they are in my stash space and in my guitar cases ready for use. Trust me no pictures needed, if you need one look at the stock photo listed or go to a local music store and see on in person if needed. lol

Good product.

I generally use a standard dunlop in a. 73 which is a great crossover for me for picking and strumming. This is a really good product. It feels good in your hand and is easy to hold on to. My only con is compared to other. 73 's this one feels more like a. 88, which is not horrible but it dose deepen the tone of my guitar. I was slightly disappointed in that aspect. I can't say it was a complete bad thing but it was not what I was looking for. This is not to knock the product because I do really like the feel but if your looking for that. 73 feel I would go down to a smaller gauge.

Little Green Monster
4 February 2014

I'm normally a fan of thick, pointed picks, but there's something magical about the .88mm green Tortex standard. Yes, it does have the old school rounded tip- something we're seeing less and less of these days with innovations such as beveled edged and pointed guitar picks. And yes, that thicker tip DOES snag a bit on the string, But the .88 is just thin enough to flex and give the string a tiny pluck before release. That action brings out beautiful upper harmonics that add an uncanny sparkle to low and mid gain tones. It's really something to behold. There are better, faster picks out there. I was and am a proud proponent of Dunlop's Jazz III and the like. But these little green monsters are perfect because they AREN'T perfect. My Wife Digs These Out Of The Washing Machine On The Regular
29 April 2019

I feel like these are the industry standard when it comes to guitar picks. Regular celluloid and plastic picks slip around in your fingers. Nylon picks sound "gritty" on my strings. Tortex picks are just right. Feel free to sweat all you want to. These picks have a surface texture that is much smoother than nylon and have more grip than the cheap picks. The only issue I find is that my local guitar store is always out of the orange .60mm. I have resorted to buying them in bulk from MF. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

Pick of the litter...!
19 May 2018

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to experiment with various picks, and how they affected my picking styles, my chording, and phrasing. Dunlops' Tortex 50mm., as well as the 60mm. have been my go to picks for several reasons. Their texture ,and feel are very welcoming to the hand. They are also very durable, and seem to maintain both flexibility, and their rigidity depending on the pressure applied to the pick itself. Price for 6 dozen is phenomenal. Get your Dunlop Tortex picks, and you'll understand a bit more about what my review included. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed. I know wasn't once I finally checked them out for myself. Thanks MF!

Pickiest bunch of picks that ever did pick
17 December 2019

Who amongst us cannot say that they have often stared at their right hand lamenting the existing of their floppy, fleshy fingers? "If only!" I would cry into the night. "If only my useless digits could be replaced some how with a single tiny plastic bit. Then I would vanquish my enemies mightily and hastily!"Imagine, then, the unbridled joy swelling within me as I discovered my, and I don't just throw this word around, FRIENDS at musicians friend had exactly the weapons I needed to unleash the symphonic doom that had hitherto resided solely in my too-many-fingered mind. I now slash and shred about unencumbered by the feckless phalanges I was forced to use before. Rejoice, peasants!

Simply the Best

I have been using Tortex picks since the early 90's and have never found anything that works nearly as well. Tortex mixes high build quality with just the right amount of snap while feeling really good in your hand. Before I found Dunlop Tortex picks I went through many produced by big names that just didn't cut it. At the time I didn't realize how important a quality pick is to producing a good tone or how much easier it makes playing guitar overall. I had problems with lack of stiffness, loss of grip, strange shape or thickness and sometimes I was just literally tearing picks in half one after another during shows. Once I tried Tortex picks all of those problems disappeared! The shape is perfect, with both the sharp and rounded edges having their uses. Once I tried Tortex picks all of those problems disappeared! The shape is perfect, with both the sharp and rounded edges having their uses. The feel is great, with a soft mat finish that seems to grip your fingers so I very rarely drop a pick. I have NEVER had one rip, sometimes using a pick until the sharp end is worn to a nub. The material itself has just the right amount of 'snap' to it that just seems to liven up my playing. Even the very thin Tortex picks snap back and hold their shape while other brand picks the same thickness don't snap back as well, sometimes warp, and can both fold and rip too easily.I am also particularly fond of the color coded thickness system that makes it easy to switch between picks for different instruments and songs by sight alone even on a dark stage. I highly recommend that a first time user get a sampler of different colors or go to a local shop to test them all before settling on one. I personally fell in love with green as my workhorse pick but will sometimes switch to a blue or purple for metal or when I need a little more stiffness. For acoustic I use something along the lines of a yellow to give that string slap sound that sounds good for open chording.I can not recommend these enough. They are the perfect blend of everything that you need in a high quality pick and can make playing more enjoyable.

These picks allow me a great range in my sensitivity and touch
28 March 2022

These picks allow me to go back and forth between light strumming and heavy accents. I think I have found the perfect material for this - tortex. Since I am mainly a 'strummer' I like how these picks allow me to have a great range in my sensitivity and touch.
