Uniquely capable of delivering extreme output, exceptional dynamics and compelling sound quality — all at the same time — the W7AE subwoofers represent the definitive reference for high-performance automotive sub-bass. Intensive audio research has optimized the speakers’ design to faithfully reproduce deep, rich bass detail with superior linearity and accuracy. As a result, eight U.S. patents have been issued for motor, suspension and assembly technologies used in the W7 platform.

Iv had my 13W7 in my explorer since 2007 and I have never had a problem with it. other then maby setting off car alarms and making people cry cus they wish there system hit as hard as mine. I have heard tons of 2 12's set up in different cars and none of them come close my one W7. i have been knocking this thing for years and it has never failed. I have it hooked up to a slash 1000/1 and it sounds great. It rumbles the low notes. best investment ever. i live by JL Audio.

I have 2 10W7 in a box thats vented and built to 10W7 specs. Each chamber is at 1.5 cubic feet and i have 600 watts going to each. This is a very high quality subwoofer and is only for someone looking for quality over quantity. My 2 10s hit so hard, it amazes anyone that hears it. JL Audio is built in America, they provide a very good customer service system and their warranty is great. I extremely highly recommend any of JL's products. My subs were shipped very carefully and came in a very nice box with a great representation. It was cool that the sub is actually mounted into the box with wood surroundings, once again.. high quality:)

I gotta say if you are a sound quality guy or a spl guy this sub can do both depending on what enclosure you use. You want to get lows and have a wide frequency response put It in a small business x. If you want to crack your windshield put it in about 3.0 cubic foot tuned to 34hzt and whatch out. You dont even need two these things can destroy a car all by themselves. But if you want a 150db daily monster with superb sound quality at the same time get two and feed them with there own HD1200/1. I would absolutely recommend these for anyone wanting the best. Yes I know there are louder subs mostly huge 18s in giant 7 cubic foot boxs but you want find but a handful of subs that can sound this good and give this level of spl at the same time. This ant n one trick pony here boys. We had a guy here in Kentucky doing 151.3 with 12s on 2k. He said he was tired of people saying JL couldnt get just as loud as other brands. And all thes people saying you need batterys and Alta to run this you dont unless its going in a old civic with a 60amp half dead alt. I run mine in a 2013 Dodge Avenger with stock 130amp alt 4 gauge ran back to a 1k watt capable batt and no big three. Never had a shut down and amp never gets over Luke warm. Its a HD1200/1 which is a perfect match for the 13w7.

Brutal bass. Just insane.
6 August 2014

This sub is brutal. I am a basshead and finally decided to take the plunge and splurge on one of these. I don't regret it, even though it was pricey. I have it in a vented box built to specs running off an Alpine PDX1.1000 amp and an Audio Control Epicenter and the amount of air movement is insane. This sucker makes my windshield flex at least a half an inch, if not more. I had 4 Rockford 12"" old school woofers and a Rockford 1000bd and this one woofer makes them sound like a ghetto blaster. Lol. If you can afford one and have the space, get one. You won't regret it. Far and away, the most bass I have ever heard from a single woofer. Louder and more bass than almost any pair of 12's. Better than most 15's. Just crazy amounts of bass. Crazy. And I LOVE IT. ... MoreThis sub is brutal. I am a basshead and finally decided to take the plunge and splurge on one of these. 23 January 2016

Heres the thing.People say Jl Audio is overpriced and someone could get same or louder Bass for less money but guess what? You will also get less. I will Never have any other driver in my Tahoe, being pushed by my 1000/1Jl and 4 C5 650s all around driven by 300/4.Everyone who sits in for 5 minutes always says that its the loudest and most clear theyve ever heard. The Lows my 13 hits on is absolutely incredible Infact,I have plans to add another 1000/1 and getting another w713 and build a dual ported spec box and really have the loudest around. THANK YOU JL AUDIO!!!

JL 13W7AE (Best Sub Money Can Buy)
25 April 2013

This driver is amazing! People are always taking about how you can buy any other sub for a cheaper price and get the same sound. Yeah, you probably can but I feel like this was the best money I ever spent on one sub. My previous set up was 2 rockford fosgate T1D212 running at 2 ohms on a rockford 1500 bdcp which puts out at least 1500 watts at 2 ohms at 14.4 volts. After doing the big three upgrade my voltage did not drop below 14 on heavy play so I know I was getting the most out of the amp. Those two subs were extremely loud. I lost a lot of sound quality the louder I cranked up the volume. There was nothing wrong with that set up I just wanted to try something different. I lost a lot of sound quality the louder I cranked up the volume. There was nothing wrong with that set up I just wanted to try something different. Currently, I am running this JL 13 W7AE at 3 ohms due to the fact my amp is not stable at 0.75 ohms. My amp does 1000 watts at 4 ohms so I figure I am getting at least 1200 watts or more of power from the amp at 3 ohms. I feel this sub out performs my T1s at 1200 watts vs. their 1500 watts. The bass is a lot cleaner at higher volumes and man does this sub move some air. I have it in a ported enclosure I bought off ebay which is built to JL specs for the sub. Bottom line, if you want one driver that will produce a better sound than 2 twelves, this sub is for you. Also my rockford 1500 bdcp does just fine; however, if I did not already have the amp, I probably would have bought the new slasher 1200/1v3. I hope this review helps you with your decision to buy the best sub I have every heard and I have had many brands over the last 15 years, just could never afford this one until now.

The Mack Daddy!
4 December 2018

Overall what can you say, this is the Mack Daddy, the King, the true reference of low frequencies, the M3 equivalent of the audio world when it comes to subs. This thing is a beast, its big, its bold, its heavy and it sounds absolutely phenomenal. JL did so much of their homework with this design, it's truly stood the test of time (18 years but who is counting). It's truly a unique sub, the mounting via the trim ring lets it all be sub, no visible screws. If you're looking for the biggest and best when it comes to subs this is your sub. Suggestions, make sure you give this sub power, it wants it, it craves it. You'll never look back from this sub. Instead you'll only be disappointed when you hear anything else. This sub will blow you away!
5 September 2015

I paired this with a JL Audio Slash1200/1v3 and it is insanely loud. It was so loud that I kept thinking my settings were wrong and I was going to blow the sub. But, when I opened the trunk, the sub was barely moving at all! This sub is also very musical sounding, not just boom boom from the trunk. A bass guitar actually sounds like a bass guitar, etc. The price of this sub is hard to swallow, but I do not regret buying it at all. Another con is the weight. I also wish JL Audio made a decent speaker grille for this. The three bar thing is OK for boxes, etc, but not so great smaller things rolling around in the trunk.

This sub is the best ever! Completely different type of bass. Best thing I ever experienced sound wise. Now I know why they want so much for this sub! Would buy this monster over and over again. Thanks jl audio for making such great products.
