This 3rd release in Johnnie Walker's Blue Label Ghost & Rare series shines a light on the long-closed Glenury Royal Distillery. As with the previous bottlings (which focussed on Brora and Port Ellen), the rare whisky from this lost distillery sits at the core of the blend. Alongside Glenury Royal's single malt, master blender Dr. Jim Beveridge used malts from Pittyvaich, Glen Elgin, Inchgower, Glenlossie, and Glenkinchie, as well as grains from Cambus and Cameronbridge to build out the expression.

Where to begin,, magical is a good word. So this is my second purchase of the Ghost and Rare trilogy, the first purchase being the Brora. They are both wonderful. They both bring joy to my heart. They both are Blue on steroids but gentler. They are sooooo smooth and silky and i crave tasting them. The biggest difference between the Brora and Port Ellen is that the Port Ellen is quite a bit smokier. Not peaty just delicious smoke that follows the silky sweet notes . The problem I now face is that I can’t imagine not always having one available to savor. Buy one, buy two, buy all three,,, you only die once but you live everyday ! If you are lucky enough to enjoy scotch and can afford it,, DO IT!!!!

Excellent item however when I order items through Malts they always seem to be delayed long periods of time. It happened with Talisker 25 and now this JW bottle. I love Diageo bottles but you definitely need to improve with your courier and dispatching items.

Fruit on the nose and as best as I can tell a super mild Dalwhinnie 15 year palette. If your first preference in scotch is for it to be smooth this may be a good choice. At 48% ABV I was expecting more flavors. I did enjoy it but felt that the experience was lacking. One nit-pick is the particle cork stopper. For $400 I can’t have a real genuine premium cork stopper?

Jonnie Walker Ghost & Rare Glenury Royal Edition was delicious, but a little pricey. The regular Blue Label is almost just as good. Some might disagree. I’m glad I tasted such a rare drink, and it will be added to my experiences. I just wouldn’t purchase again.
I ordered 2 bottles of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost & Rare, Port Ellen. They came in excellent condition and the packaging was superb! The price was fair and I would definitely recommend Uptown Spirits. I hope to see more unique offerings in the future.
I purchased this for my boyfriend for Father's Day and for the price, we were apprehensive to open it, AT FIRST.......then we just went for it and jumped in and OMG! THE SMOOTHEST, it has notes of hazelnut, pineapple, its just simply beautiful. We actually cried it was so good....lol. It definitely is for that special someone, its delicious, smooth, full bodied, silky, everything you would want....go for it!
My first online purchase experience and it was great! Got here fast. No issues and I will purchase here again. Pricing was great too!
A friend got this bottle as a gift. And we drank it all in one night. It was a religious experience. Smooth on the swish, with a sweet hint of actual butter scotch, followed by a smooth finish. I’m having scotch PTSD thinking about it, haunting! To quote Ferris Bueller, “It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up!”
This is a great blend. They really made something that goes well with special occasions. I like the regular Blue label but this is a step above but and mentioned in the title you get what you pay for it’s not cheap and at this price point I would say it’s for special occasions.
This is a gift for Fathers Day so it’s personality has not yet been revealed. If the outside appearance or “First Impression”” is any indication of what the inside holds we are off to one hell of a start. I realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and some tastes are acquired....however there are some things that just stand the test of time and get better with age! Johnnie Walker is one of those things!! I am sure it will not disappoint.. looking forward to a long lasting relationship with this one!!! Cheers!!
