Bought these 2 bins to use for recycling. Love the way the lid opens to easily add items. Removing and attaching a new bin bag is easy too. Such an improvement on our old bins. They look extremely smart which, in an open plan environment is important.My only ‘complaint’, if it could be called that, is that I did not want blue so chose the grey but it is far too light for my taste. I would have preferred a true grey colour.

What a difference this bin makes when I’m emptying my rubbish - no more fighting with the bin bag when lifting out of my old bin. This is fantastic and makes such a difference to a once dreaded chore. The slow closing lid is a smooth and quiet operation as is the emptying and putting a new bag in place. So easy. I love the shape of it too. It sits very neatly in my kitchen and I much prefer it to my old round bin. It’s far easier to clean too. I have back issues so this is ideal for me. I know it seems a lot to pay for a bin but I think it’s worth it for the hassle free aspect of it alone. My sister now has bin-envy.

The bin looks fabulous and bears all the hallmarks of the classic, clean, functional-yet-beautiful Joseph Joseph design. However, things that could be better are: 1) The opening front door of the bin doesn't lock into place firmly - it always feels like it hovers closed and opening and closing the top lid inevitably makes the front door open a little bit. 2) The whole unit feels like it will tip over if you press too hard on the foot pedal; not quite flimsy but very light. I love everything about this bin. Lovely colour. Bin bags never slip down even with heavy items placed into it. So easy to remove bags, no ripping or straining to lift it out of the bin due to its clever open door design. No smell at all when bin lid is opened due to the odour remover. It is a perfect neat compact bin that can hold a lot. I love it !
Love this!The design is great, size perfect, with my kitchen being alongside a family room it is always on view and looks good. It’s Small and compact. Great way to store the bin bags at the top so they don’t fall in the bin when you add things. The door makes it so easy to remove the bag, no more shaking and cursing to get the full bag out out or worrying the bag will split because you overfilled it. Easy to clean and to not have to fill with hot water and bleach if mishaps to occur. The odour filter in the lid really works.Overall a bit pricey when you consider it is just a receptacle for rubbish but you get what you pay for and this I feel is worth it.
Love this! It does a great job as a bin but looks like a piece of furniture. It’s heavy so really stable when it’s full. It’s lighter grey than I thought it would be but it’s not a problem. Love the fact that there’s no messy bin liner on show and I can use my usual supermarket bin liners (would love Joseph Joseph ones but way too expensive!)Easy to empty by opening the door and easy to keep clean too Would definitely recommend
It matches my new john lewis kitchen units. I saw it in store and had to order it online to get it the next day. It's good quality and was on a money back offer from the manufacturer so I'm very happy. Why it's called intelligent I do not know, it's a high end pedal bin. I think the binbags that go with it are expensive but they are very good quality and fit perfectly. It has a charcoal filter which might prove useful.A word of warning, it comes in a manufacturer's box of an appropriate size but when I went to pick it up that box had been put inside another box the size of a wendy house. I only just fitted it into my car so you might prefer delivery to your house, it takes longer but better than not being able to see out of your back window when driving home.
There are garbage bins and there are garbage bins. We had the previous bin for quite a number of years, and persevered with the frequent ripping of the bag when removing it up and out, not so with the Porta. The front door swings open allowing easy access to the bag for trouble free removal. With the door swinging open cleaning the inside is also easy. Wasn’t convinced with the odour filter on first unboxing but as yet (it’s winter) haven’t had any unpleasant smells.It is pricey, but I must admit it’s worth it.
Already have 2 dual compartment JJ bins - used for storage. All extremely useful as well as stylish. This sits alongside one in a small galley kitchen so would be neater if both at the same height. Also find the flat stainless lids on all 3 - naturally used by all as an extra surface! - can easily scratch. Maybe optional soft washable stretch cover would help keep it looking good? Great deep lid to hide bag edges.
Never thought I'd be leaving a review for a bin but here we are. The bin itself not only looks great but I never expected the quality to be as good as it is. The pedal is solid and doesn't feel like it's going to fall off when you use it unlike other foot pedal bins. The tailor made bin bags not only fit perfectly but are really strong as well. Having the bin open from the front also makes taking the bag out so much easier. The carbon filter also makes a huge difference with neautrilisng the smell. Solid 10/10!
