My teenage daughter recently discovered she has a gluten sensitivity. She hasn’t liked flour substitutes and after some research, I learned about the amazing health benefits of Einkorn flour and it’s easy digestibility. She has devoured everything I have made with Jovial Einkorn flour, and her stomach feels great! Our entire family thinks it tastes much better than standard all purpose flour.

I made one loaf of Einkorn sandwich bread with my regular recipe for sandwich bread and it came out denser than I’m accustomed to, which I understand is the standard for Einkorn products. On the flip side, it made for FANTASTIC toast with a subtly nutty flavour and I did not have any notable heaviness in my stomach after eating it. For baking loaves of bread, it was perfect for me to mix with whole wheat flour so that the density of the bread is not heavy. Also it rises well too. I like the quality of the product. Thanks to vitacost who offers it at a great price and shipping option. It was actually my first time using it and the texture is much better than a regular organic whole wheat bread. It has its own taste - slightly chewy and nutty flavor which I have fallen in love with. I think I wouldn't never make whole wheat bread without einkorn flour. Plus, there was a problem with the shipping, and Vitacost acted upon on professionally and rapidly. This is why I keep coming back- no hassle and perfect satisfaction that I have nothing to complain about as a customer.

We have been using this flour for all of our baked goods for a number of years. Jovial Einkorn Wheat is imported from Italy from small farms and it made from non-hybridized organic wheat. Why is this important? It is healthier and easier to digest than flour that has been grown with GMO's. Better for you, better for earth, and it has a superior quality in both taste and texture. I use it for all my baked goods. Vitacost has the best price on it, of course :-) Try it, it is worth it!
We've switched to Einkorn flour for baking our weekly Challah. So far I have mixed reviews - love the taste but haven't yet made a loaf with the texture I expect from Challah. Maybe the flour is that different I can't get there but I am still experimenting with recipes. My daughter is gluten sensitive and we have been getting by with gluten free flour mixes. So far (4 weeks) she hasn't shown any reaction to the Einkorn. Yeah! We tried the whole grain version first but the all-purpose does produce a lighter loaf.
I have been using this flour for a few weeks now and it has not caused any issues that I get with regular flour. I have made bread, muffins and a date loaf recipe. I like the taste but still trying to get used to the stick to the roof of your mouth consistency with some products. I need to keep making tweaks to some recipes but overall I would recommend this flour. Wish it came in a bigger size.
I'm so happy to see that Natura Market is carrying the whole wheat einkorn flour now! It has a finer texture than the other brands I've been using, which makes it great for pizza and bread doughs. I find if I add a bit more water to the doughs made with einkorn, the final result will be a bit more stretchy and bubbly than if the dough is drier, like a modern wheat dough. Love the flavour too - and as the previous reviewer said, it's much easier to digest than modern wheat varieties, so no upset stomach.
Makes a wonderful whole wheat sourdough boule. Sometimes I mix it with the Jovial all-purpose flour for buns. I use the recipes available on the Jovial website (and Carla Bartolucci Einkorn cookbook) with great success. Seriously delicious with soups and stews. Highly recommend!
Einkorn is the original wheat and is not hybridized. It has a delicious flavour. The two proteins that make up gluten are different in Einkorn so it is better tolerated by those sensitive to gluten. Many of my friends use this product and love it. Since this is my first purchase they suggested I follow some of the recipes from the Jovial web site. You will find working with Einkorn flour a little different than regular wheat so following the Einkorn Cook book by Jovial CEO Carla will be helpful. We are lucky that a Canadian company like Natura Market carries this product which comes from Italy. I only wish that this flour came in larger bags.
I feel good knowing this is a "better" wheat for my family. It has a noticeably nice flavor especially for pancakes. Easy to bake with once I learned to increase the amount a recipe calls for by about 1/8 cup per cup called for, and don't add too much at once as it takes a few extra minutes to absorb moisture. So wait 5-10 minutes before adding more to see what consistency it really is, before further adjustments. Buying it in the large bags here, with free shipping, and when I have a coupon code, makes this an affordable option for us!
