I used to use a thermometer that you insert into the meat while cooking. On a BBQ it was always close to burning your hand. I couldn't believe how easy it was to just insert the sensor, close the lid of the kettle BBQ and sit and watch the temperature rise to whatever you wanted to cook. Amazing - Love it!

Great product.Very accurate and versatile functions. Can use preset temperature settings for convenience or hold the "mode" button to set a custom temperature..If used in a BBQ it would be better to avoid exposing the wire to naked flammes (aluminum foil placed underneath worked fine).Overall, very satisfied considering the price.

77 degrees Celsius is the maximum temperature at which this thermometer can sound an alarm to alert the user that the target temperature has been reached. If you are cooking pulled pork shoulder and want an alarm when it hits 90C, or you're cooking beef ribs and want an internal of 95C this thermometer cannot sound an alarm at those temperatures. It will only sound alarms at the preset options, the highest of which is 77C. Really bad functionality, disappointing.

For $20NZD this is reasonably good, it’s simple & easy to use, I use it predominantly to monitor ambient temp on a smoker & it does the biz just fine. Works well in the oven too on the standard roasts etc where the alarm is effective. Whilst it will happily read temps north of 100C don’t expect an alarm beyond 77C. If you want more spec spend the $$. This does what it says on the box and does it well. Great value.
Purchased this from my local Bunnings as I left my inkbird and smoker at the workshop pre lockdown. Wanting to smoke some meat and not having to purchase everything, I purchased this drilled a small hole in my cheap no name Webber kettle replica bbq lid, and started the process. At first I wasn’t sure how accurate this thing was, so I compared it to some pricey meat thermometers I had on hand, it was extremely close, so I had confidence that I wasn’t going to ruin my brisket. For $20 and using the old snake method this thing held up well. Would actually recommend it to someone wanting to learn how to smoke on a kettle on a budget. I wish I though of this a few years back
I have just opened my second Jumbuck meat thermometer bought from Bunnings. I used the first one to roast a leg of lamb. It seemed ok except it didn't sound the alarm when meat was cooked under the time & temperature was showing 86oC when it was set on 77oC. The light flashes but no alarm. I had tried it on the stop watch timer before this & again the alarm didn't sound. This is no good as one doesn't have the thing in view all the time to see the light flash. I returned it. I have not cooked with the replacement, but again the alarm does not sound when the time is up on the stop watch mode. so will return it for a refund especially after reading the mostly negative reviews of all sorts of malfunctions others have had.
Purchased one of these a while ago and suffered with it through two smoke sessions... Battery life is abysmal, and the temp reading is totally inaccurate (when you can get the screen to display it)If you are into low and slow, or if you like your meat cooked to perfection... do NOT waste your time on this junk.Save and buy a decent thermometer. This is NOT a good thermometer, this is useless junk
I purchased my FIRST Jumbuck just before Christmas, worked well on Christmas Day and on the final two occasions I used. The next time it was used it went absolutely berserk after about 5 minutes, said the temperature on the meat was 295 degrees cent and continued to rise. Returned the thermometer to the local Bunnings and replaced it with another one. On the first occasion it was used it failed the alarm failed to activate and the meat kept cooking. Tonight I used it again and within five minutes the meat temperature was showing as 295 dress (cent) , it the showed 'HH" was which according to the manual means the probe needed replacing - come one !! on the second use "unbelievable!!".It goes back to Bunnings tomorrow and a refund will be requested.
Worked well when it worked, didn’t last long. Died on the third BBQ, had been used twice on the stove. That’s it and now the temperature reading is “- -” if the probe isn’t in and “HH” if it is. So good features but poor longevity. This was a gift, so I can’t return it. But, it was a good look into the world of using a meat thermometer, so I’ll get another, more robust, one to replace it.
Bought this digital thermometer a couple weeks ago. Used it 2 times, initial impressions where, its great works as expected. Turned it on the 3rd time and its dead. Im not able to select anything or start the readings. Save your time and money and get something else.
