We purchased our Jura e-8 August 2019! WS employee, Trip educated us on how to use and maintain it which was so important in understanding how the Jura works so it will perform the way it’s meant to work. He took all the guessing out!!! After three and a half years, I have to say it’s a joy drinking coffee in the comfort of our home especially during the unexpected pandemic. We programmed the settings to our preferred beverages which gives each of us our favorite latte and cappuccino at the touch of the button. The espresso feature is wonderful especially when hosting a dinner party, I can whip up a classic alfonso for dessert. I will say that we spent years debating a high end coffee/espresso maker..we finally bit the bullet and are glad we did. We purchased the chrome-prob would have bought black but it wasn’t avail at the time we bought it. We had to look up a bunch of tutorials to make sure we were using the machine correctly..instructions were very basic..it really is fully automatic and the espresso drinks and coffees are very smooth. We have only had it a month, and have used Illy and Starbucks Espresso beans. NO oily beans. I also like that it has a dispenser so if you want to add a ground coffee for a cup at a time you can do that. we also bought the milk dispenser and again, attach it and instant foam!..it rinses all the time so you have to make sure you have that dispenser ... I have this machine for about 6 months. It brews great espresso and froth delicious milk. However, it does take a lot to maintain and it's expensive. The biggest disappointment is my water tank developed green mold. I get direct sunlight in my kitchen so it's unavoidable that the water tank gets the direct sun. I've washed soaked it many times with food grade bleach. I've also put an opaque cling to the clear part of the water tank but the mold keeps coming back. I've reached out to Jura's customer service and they said I was out of luck with my satisfaction warranty of 30 days and I needed to purchase a new water tank, even though my one year service warranty has not expired yet. I'm highly disappointed in the customer service/warranty especially with the price ... MoreI have this machine for about 6 months. It brews great espresso and froth delicious milk. I'm highly disappointed in the customer service/warranty especially with the price point of Jura. Even though I purchased a refurbished machine, it was still over $1200.As for an "automatic" machine, yes it's a press of a button to brew but it is high Maintenance. Seems more often than none, there is always some message that is alerted. Empty ground container, which you can't do on a daily basis because it seems like it's pre-calculated by number of brews. Even when I emptied before the alert, the alert would come on even if the container was empty. Same with the drip tray. And of course the numerous messages about replacing "filter" or "clean" mode. The most annoying part is when you turn the machine on, it goes through a "rinse system" EVERY TIME. I have to have a cup to catch the rinse or the drip tray will fill up quickly. After the automatic shut off, it also goes through a "rinse system" It goes through a lot of water just with the "rinse system" that I'm constantly getting another alert of filling the water tank. I stopped using the frothier because that's another inconvenient cleaning system. I'm better off using my counter top frothier that is a lot less clean up.Overall, it brews great espresso and many drink options. But disappointed in every other aspect of the machine. I regret spending the amount of money on this and now stuck with it.

I have been enjoying a White E8 for over a year now; bought it after moving to new home with kitchen counter space to set it up. The machine’s high quality is evident in every detail. The many coffee drinks it makes keep us more than satisfied at home instead of going out in inclement weather and standing in lines. We have pretty much settled on one mix of regular plus decaf beans, but switch out the regular roast beans just for a different taste — very easy to do with the bean hopper. Daily maintenance is minimum and simple; follow the on-screen prompts. We use in-tank filter which is easily replaced and protects machine’s internal plumbing from mineral scale buildup. Brewing programming is quite flexible and customizable.
This is definitely an expensive unit but I like how easy it is to clean the milk out of the machine. Dispense pellets, connect the tube, and start the cleaning cycle. Super simple. I just wish I had more control over the coffee. I can adjust individual drinks but I have no way (or at least haven’t figured out how) to duplicate something and create a custom drink option. I like to prepare a latte machiatto for my commute but I also enjoy the same at home. I use a large travel mug for my commute and like to have more coffee in my mug than I could fit in a cup at home. So I have to pick the smaller size option and manually keep dispensing more coffee in the morning as I am rushing out the door. I hate that I cannot have a custom option for my travel coffee so I can ... MoreThis is definitely an expensive unit but I like how easy it is to clean the milk out of the machine. I hate that I cannot have a custom option for my travel coffee so I can click a button, walk away, and continue with my morning regiment. Instead I have to sit there in front of the machine waiting for it. Sure I can use one of the other recipes and change it for this but the icons won’t match so when my family and friends are over they may press it thinking they are making something and then they get my recipe and the cup would overflow. I also have issue with the coffee grinds overflowing inside the machine. Every time I remove the tray, there is a large amount of grinds left behind in the compartment where the tray goes in. This part is difficult to clean and seems like an oversight in the design process. The “chrome” drip tray and spouts (really anything that looks chrome) are also cheap plastic, not metal.
I’d really like to leave a 5 star because we like everything about the Jura E8, except the ground coffee function. We like to keep caffeinated beans loaded in the hopper and use ground coffee for decaf at night. The directions so you must brew ground coffee within “approximately one minute” of loading the grounds. If you take too long, it no longer recognizes the grounds and says you need to add more. You end up with a funnel full of grounds and no way to get it out unless you stick a vacuum hose down the funnel which is probably going to damage a sensor. If the machine hasn’t previously been warmed, the water warming process takes longer then the “approximately one minute”. I talked to tech support about this and they said this is normal and we should not brew ... If this is really how it works, this is a bad design. At least make a way to get the grounds out other then shoving a vac hose inside a $2500 coffeemaker. Please tell me there’s a solution to this and tech support was wrong.
I'm one of the few who will likely consider the updated E8 disappointing vs. the cost. Yes...the quality of the coffee drinks is outstanding as usual thanks to Jura's updated bean grinder. But here is where the new E8 falls short of the old E8: 1) Because tank water is now used for the milk cleaning process vs. using tap water, you're filling up the tank more frequently. I get that the new system is more convenient than running to the sink. 2) The lack of an adjustable milk frothing dial and lof a "hot milk" function vs. the old E8. 3) The coffee spout on the milk system (which includes the milk spout) is positioned so far back that if your coffee cup is not flush against the machine, you'll have coffee missing the cup. 4) Getting the milk system detached (for hand ... The little protuberances that require pushing to release the component are poorly designed. 5) For some drinks, the milk frother sputters and milk splatters all over the nice chrome like finish. And it is not because the milk frother is clogged. My first E8 lasted only five years when it began leaking water at the bottom of the machine. Granted, there are some worthwhile improvements on the new E8 - but it is a net loss vs. a net win for this upgraded model at the price tag listed.
We purchased our Jura as a part of our wedding registry and could not be happier. For a decade I have been hoping for a plug and play, easy maintenance espresso machine for my home, that would produce espresso without any bitter taste. We opened the box, plugged it in, followed prompted direction and voila. The most perfect cup of espresso with naturally sweet crema followed by the most perfect americano latte. Press off a button, rather than making your own espresso, followed by steaming your own milk and then cleaning all individual parts, each time. I have always been a creamer/ flavor pump addict. With this espresso, I haven’t been needing any extra flavors outside for what Lavazza beans bring. I chose it after sampling and education session from a superstar ... Comparing a bean-to-cup machine to a coffee pod/capsule one is unlikely to be meaningful as they are very different to live with - we switched from 2 Nespresso machines to the Jura E8.Let's start with what we didn't know that took some adjusting to - there's a lot more maintenance. You are encouraged to clean the milk system daily (assuming you used it) and while the process is automated it consumes a cleaning agent from Jura, water from the tank and your time, plus it sprays the front of the machine with water that you end up wiping a few times a day. The water tank contains a filter that with our water hardness has lasted about a month, another consumable. Filling the water tank and emptying the drip tray is surprisingly frequent as the machine rinses itself ... Yes, we expected it to be better in some not easily definable way but what we got was better! Using Monmouth beans at the finest grind setting produces a coffee we didn't think we can get at home. The result is so satisfying that the maintenance routine is transformed from a 'chore' to an 'act of coffee making'.The buttons are convenient, the screen is nice, the drinks selection is decent but none of this matters as much as the fact that if you are able to somehow make your way to it, in the morning, with unseeing eyes and manage to find the 'On' button you'll be rewarded with the best cup of coffee you can imagine with no effort at all.
OK, I've had the Jura E8 for about a month now. As background I moved from a Gaggia Accademia that I had running strong for 8 years until the door started leaking like crazy (apparently a weak spot for these Accademia's). At first I considered repairing the Accademia but the repair process sounded complicated/cumbersome and I was enticed to try a new brand to change things up a bit.Jura caught my attention. Beautiful designs and great reviews. I decided to go for it. Got a refurbished unit of Jura's website. First unit was a total disappointment - didn't work, some error with the temperature sensor, I called Jura back and they shipped me another refurbished unit within a couple days. This second version worked great. I sent the other one back. Despite this ... MoreOK, I've had the Jura E8 for about a month now. This second version worked great. I sent the other one back. Despite this setback/disappointment I have to say I'm now very impressed with my Jura.First impression I was concerned about the build/quality of the materials (much more cheap plastic than my Accademia had). Its beautiful - don't get me wrong but some components like the drip tray just seems too cheap for such an expensive machine. It does make it lighter I take that but no one is really moving/hauling these things around - once you put it on the counter it stays there. The functionality and customization is amazing, particularly with the App. The milk based expresso drinks are great. At first I thought I'd hate the cleaning of the milk system (my Accademia did it automatically after each drink) but in reality its not too bad.Temperature and flavor of coffee is spot on. Easy to get used to the routine/settings.Water tank and drip container also very conveniently accessible and of good size (a bit bigger than my accademia).Overall time will tell if this thing lasts as long as my accademia did. I'm a bit concerned it wont just based on the quality of some of the outer components that feel more plastic like (as opposed to solid aluminum like the accademia or other more expensive Jura's) but so far so good so I'm willing to give it a try.
