I did my research. I bought the ENA8 twice. While the coffee brewing was exceptional, both machines had issues with the milk frothing. The temperature was never hot and the milk never creamy. Customer service was helpful and I performed strategic tests but returned both. I demoed models at William Sonoma and decided on the Delongi. Very happy with the new machine, more features and the creamy hot froth is unparalleled. I wanted the pulse action of the Jura. I really tried to make it work. If you just want expresso and coffee then Jura is ok. If you want hot milk and fancy layered drinks this machine does not deliver.

Overall, I love this machine. It takes much less counter space than my E8 and brews delicious coffee drinks, but in my opinion, one drawback is that there is much less capacity in the grounds tray. You can only brew about 4/5 drinks before it needs to be emptied. Worse, though, is that there is no warning when the bean bin or the water tank needs to be refilled UNTIL you hit brew. Sometimes the beans just need to be pushed further into the bin instead of being fully refilled. Even if enough beans needed to brew your choice are not ground, the coffee will still begin to brew, and the same is true for the water. If you don't have enough water for your chosen size, you won't know until you end up with half a cup of coffee. More than just annoying, these two flaws ... MoreOverall, I love this machine. There is some daily maintenance that I was aware of. It is important to keep the milk tube/dispenser clean. After some use, I had the machine go through a cleaning cycle. Unlike other brands, I don't have to remove the brewing unit to clean it. It seems to do a thorough job though.Grinding beans is straight forward. I do have to keep the beans mixed up so they fall down past the grate in the hopper or I get a message to add more beans, a minor inconvenience.Using the bypass port, I've add pre-ground coffee. The ENA 8 automatically recognizes that it needs to bypass the grinder.I wasn't sure about a factory refurbished model, but so far, the machine has performed as expected. The espresso's are very good. There is a nice crema on top and there are no grounds or muddiness in the liquid. A very clean drink that is enjoyable to drink.I looked at many different brands that ranged from full manual mode to fully automatic. I chose the fully automatic like the ENA 8 and I have been very happy with my purchase.I've attached a photo of our coffee bar in our kitchen. The Full Nordic White looks stunning.

I have been looking for a super-automatic machine for over a year, I had the opportunity to work at place in the 2000's that spoiled its workers. Amazing commercial super automatic that made exceptional drinks. I was sure I found the right machine in the Jura ENA 8. Brought it home and it made fantastic expressos, delicious macchiatos and cappuccinos I was sure I made the right decision! Then the nuisances started to appear, the used grounds cup would sometimes require to be emptied after 3 drinks, instead of the 6 or 7 when we first received it. Then sometimes it kept asking for it to be emptied even after it was just emptied. So okay I can put up with the inconvenience the coffee is great. Huh the drinks taste different when I do that, richer, more full bodied, better! I was puzzled, intrigued! But ENA 8 was an optimist her grounds cup was always FULL! Alright I called tech support, to my dismay the fix was hardly doable, I was told to reach inside, hold open the grounds chute flap with one hand or finger and use a paper towel to clean a disk that I guess is up inside the machine. No way to see what I was doing, no way to tell if I had done it correctly, just do this everyday and that should fix it. At that point my coffee joy came to it's end. ENA 8 was no longer fun, the uncertainty, difficulty and vagueness of the "cleaning" procedure was to much. In looking into this issue I discovered why making espresso first then the steamed milk after and combining them into Espresso ART was richer and better flavored. The PEP system that the ENA 8 uses to make such great espresso does not work when you choose to make a drink with milk. To say the least I returned it, my search continues!!

And now let’s get to the part where Jura offers refurbished models that look and function like new. It’s like buying a certified preowned car at significant savings. I couldn’t pass the offer up. I never new I would love an all white machine and to make it even better it was on sale. A sale on already reduced refurbished prices, what a no brainer. My machine arrived in a non-retail box with molded foam holding it in place. All accessories that you would receive in a retail package were also included. The only thing I didn’t like was the coffee grounds that were minimally scattered on my white machine. It was an easy clean up. I inspected the machine for any damage and after wiping it down it looked brand new.Let the excitement begin. I’ve never made any type of coffee drinks outside of a Keurig. I preordered the Milk glass, Bluetooth adapter, stainless milk pipe, along with illy coffee beans. I watched countless YouTube videos and read the machines instructions. If your going to pay a thousand plus for an espresso machine you should at least read the instructions.I started off with an espresso, then a coffee, a flat white, learned about the differences of the drinks my machine can make. I learned how to make an Americano from, you guessed it a YouTube video. I don’t know why the ENA4 has an Americano setting but the more expensive machine doesn’t. I browsed the maintenance menu to change settings that work for me like ounces. I actually did it using the Joe app. What I don’t like is the Joe app can change the machines maintenance settings but not permanently save drink changes. Now I drink cappuccinos and flat whites on my days off and make a 12oz americano to take to work after my initial cup of coffee on the days I work. No more Starbuck lines or high cost for a splash of sweet cream ($1.25, for a simple splash) this is what pushed me over the edge. Now I can change my grind settings to alter taste, increase volume of drinks or simply just push a button. It’s amazing what convenience can do to your quality of life. Thank you Jura.Now the not so great parts. You have to buy the glass milk container and stylish stainless pipe separate. You have to buy every type of glassware separate, (including a Jura shot glass would be a great touch to the package). The machine is loud when it grinds but I honestly don’t know what a grinder is suppose to sound like. I haven’t felt the pinch yet having to replace the water filter. I did preorder milk system cleaner and machine cleaning capsules. You have to clean the milk system daily with Jura cleaning tabs if you make milk drinks, which adds up very quickly and takes time doing. I find myself constantly refilling the reservoir. I now use a pitcher to do so. I use filtered water for drinking and filling the ENA8. My Keurig never had to be descaled and I used it for 8 yrs, still have it. I think I’ll be moving to a filter less reservoir when it’s time. I don’t like the warranty is only one year instead of two on refurbished models but I don’t think You’ll have any problems if proper maintenance is followed. The ground coffee chute is ok, I’ve tried it and the coffee comes out very watered down, don’t recommend.Anybody that comes to my home loves my new ENA8 specially the reservoir carafe. The machine makes amazing drinks and looks even better. I’m extremely happy with my purchase.
