Effective tablets, but over-priced

In its literature, JURA strongly discourages the use of decalcifiers from other brands, but they do not give a reason. Why can't we use, for example, Durgol? Or any other, less costly, alternative for the purpose of cleaning our machine? We bought the JURA tablets, to be on the safe side, but we think these are terribly expensive for what you get. JURA has a huge mark-up on these. You need three tablets for just one cleaning cycle, so you only get 12 cleanings from this large canister. We have always used Clearyl filters for our water, diligently replacing these, so decalcifying should not have been required. But our machine broke down recently (and cost $750 to repair!), and the repairman told us that calcium build-up contributed to the failure. JURA needs to be more transparent about maintenance procedures for its expensive machines.

This thing does it all. We love our coffees at our local coffee shop but these are much healthier and they come out better and consistent. This machine is like having a personal barista that doesn't make mistakes in our dinning room! We used to go out for coffee on the weekends but now we plan to go on walks instead. Also a great feature is the fact we expect to break even in less than three years with the savings and we get great barista level coffee everyday.

I haven’t used them yet.

I haven’t used them yet. Wanted to have them when they were needed. We love our E6! It tells us when to clean coffee grinds, rinse the coffee system, add water. It takes some time to determine the quantities of coffee you want, but when you do, it makes the coffee making process easy. The only comment I have is about the milk foaming system. Attaching the hose to the machine is very inconvenient and hard to do. Especially removing the little plug. It’s best to purchase another Jura Milk container to have it work well.

If you have the money, it's worth it!

I bought this for our breakroom, and it is literally everyone's favorite thing about our brand-new renovated office (and probably the reason I got a raise this year). If you don't want to buy the milk containers they have, we usually just stick the plastic milk straw into the milk container we want, make our cappuccino and then wash the straw. It isn't the best option, but it saves you a few hundred dollars if you use different types of milk.It is an expensive machine, and the maintenance items for it are also pretty pricey. After talking with their customer service (both times very helpful and informative) I was thinking of using descaling tablets instead of the Clearyl Pro Filter, since it is $65 for a new filter. After talking with their customer service (both times very helpful and informative) I was thinking of using descaling tablets instead of the Clearyl Pro Filter, since it is $65 for a new filter. The one that came with the machine lasted almost 3 months for an office of 11 people, making roughly 20-30 cups on average per day (stil in hybrid mode though, so only 3 days out of the week). Our tap water in the office is supposed to be filtered, but we'll see how no Clearyl filter affects the taste of the coffee.Extra cleaning tablets should also be purchased, since you'll use the included two within the first two months. Milk cleaning tablets go a long way depending on how often you clean the milk system. I try to do so every couple days. For our office, I typically empty the drip tray and coffee grounds every day, or two days if it hasn't been used much. I recommend not leaving it for more than 2 days because the dirty water starts to form a film and smell, and coffee grounds can grow mold within a few days.I hope this helps anyone thinking of buying this machine. We really love ours! Just be prepared to be ruined, you'll never want to go back to regular coffee machines or Keurig...

Crowd favorite at our office. We were looking to get away from Kcups micro plastic consumption and waste. Wanted something that had a water connection and made great coffee. This met and went above expectations. Easy for everyone to use. The amount of money we save from buying kcups it will eventually pay for itself, I think.

Mood enhancement while you wait.

Week 6 with the Jura X8 and milk cooler in the office.I have caught more than a dozen times people walking in the door with a full mug from home, going straight to the sink and dumping it out to fill up with a fresh cup of the premium smoothness that flows abundantly from the X8. The machine and coffee quality are very high. I highly recommend the milk cooler attachment, it changes the whole experience. The X8 is easy to clean and maintain takes about 5 minutes once a week.

I never write reviews, but I had to for this machine. This X8 is an absolute workhorse! We purchased it 5 years ago for our office of about 40-50 people and it has been almost flawless in execution. We have now crossed 30,000 preparations and other than 2 minor service repairs it has vastly exceeded our expectations. I have many clients that had no idea how good the drinks were, and now get a coffee or two every day, so much better than any of the big box stores with the green logo. I would buy this machine again when it needs replacement. I also understand this machine is still Swiss made which probably explains the longevity. I hope Jura does not ever outsource this machine to China or elsewhere as I assume the quality and workmanship would suffer.

The machine looks great, and
16 November 2022

The machine looks great, and should be great. But it does not work. It makes a loud grinding noise and the troubleshooting guide said to call support if that happened. Well, I've called them 3 times, waiting for 30 mins each time for someone to answer, but no one did. I have emailed them twice now. Still no answer. Very unhappy. It's a $3500 coffee machine that does not work.

Works well, really expensive
8 May 2023

I like not having to descale my machine and the coffee tastes great. However, I have to replace this filter about every 2 months for a household of 2 coffee drinkers. At a cost of about $50-$60 each, this gets expensive. I imagine in an office setting it needs to be replaced much more often (and they are often out of stock at the Jura store).

A couple of weeks in and the machine is an office favorite, replacing the eco-disastrous pod system we used up to now. Of course, the coffee is great, whether espresso, ristretto or latte. Plenty of options for most people. Frankly, an office machine needs only 4-5 options, not more, but I guess some will want to tinker and customize. We set the temperature to high, the strength to high and the grind to the suitable espresso mode and it is perfect for our tastes. The machine is rated for 80 cups a day, which is enough for our small team. We probably are at 30-40 at present. Minor quibbles: the coffee-puck collecting pan has a kind of flap on one side. The pan needs to be carefully re-inserted after emptying. We have been careless once or twice and the flap was folded up (like a shirt collar not folded down properly). The result is the pucks drop all over the place inside creating a royal mess. Its not a great design and my home unit - a Z9 - doesn’t even have this flap. It seems to be manageable once you pay attention putting the pan back slowly. Overall, we are very happy with the quality of the coffee. We use either Lavazza espresso beans or the Jura 10-bean blend. Both equal in my opinion. Choose your own for the best results, obviously, as this part is subjective. Don’t buy cheap beans though…the machine deserves a good coffee-bean to be used.
