I wish Ubisoft would make the PS5 versions compatible with the PS5 camera like they do the PS4 versions. It’s not as fun when my kids can’t play together because they have to share my phone. Please bring back hands free.

Just Dance 2023 is definitely different from any previous editions but if you can get past needing a phone and app to play it’s still loads of fun for friends and family. The PS5 edition is only a code, not a disc, so be prepared for that. There was a bit of a learning curve for a 30 something like me. I kind of struggked with keeing uo with the little avatar but once I got the hang of it we had a blast and laughed until we cried. I am ok with needing a phone and app but can imagine that makes things difficult for the younger kids who do’t have access like my preteen. I would love to see the option to maybe use the camera instead so you dont have to hold the phone, that would really make things easier and more fun.

Having to use a phone for a controller changed this from a family game. My littles can no longer play because they don't have a phone and I refuse to buy them a phone just so they can play. Horrible change!!

The game itself is fine. The low rating is due to Ubisoft aNd their ABYSMAL policy of only authorizing the game to one PS5 user account. I bought this for my son using my account. When he went to play on his account, he was told that he did not own the game and would need to pay $60 to play. Completely unacceptable that this game is tied to only one user account!!
This version of Just Dance is a little different from previous versions that I’ve played. I will say that it’s a little more of a challenge to keep up with the dance moves but lots of fun none the less. VERY good cardio, btw! :) I’m not a huge fan of having to hold my phone in my hand while dancing. I’d love to see the option to use the camera on the phone to score dance moves versus holding the phone. There’s a box but no disc, just a code inside so be mindful of that. You get a 1-month free trial to Just Dance which is pretty cool so you get access to an extended catalog of songs that continues to grow. All and all a good time for me and the kiddos, looking forward to having all the family over to play along too.
Ubisoft messed up their process by making users use their phone as a "controller" a few years ago. Just Dance was wonderful when it required the camera. Now it requires you to put your expensive personal device at risk everytime you play.
Nothing against Best Buy. Everything came and shipped when it stated. The game ITSELF!!! Horrible! The whole point of these games is nice to not have to hold something in your hand. And yet, they make you hold your phone while playing now! The Kinect for Xbox and PlayStations were so great for this. Then another app to download and my son can’t play with his sister now because he doesn’t have a phone. This was her birthday present. We don’t mind digital downloads either. Makes it nicer to not have discs sitting around to get scratched. The songs and everything are great. For some reason having faces on the people bothered us tho…maybe because we were used to the way it used to look for so long.
The game would probably be fine if it wasn't ruined by Ubisoft. It requires an ubisoft account to do most things and it glitches all the time: failing to connect to the account or not finding phones (you have to use a phone as an controller) that worked five minutes earlier.The worst part is that most of the songs are behind a subscription paywall. That's right it's not enough that you bought the game if you want to play you need to subscribe. You can't even pay to unlock them permanently.
If you have an old Ubisoft account and don’t have access to it and your psn or Xbox live accounts are linked. Don’t even bother with this game. I bought this game and I can’t play this game at all because my PlayStation account is linked to the Ubisoft account and won’t even load up. Waste of money . I tried making a new account still doesn’t work.
This game was an early holiday gift and I love the artist featured such as harry styles, Billy Eilish & others. The online multi-player is a winner! I play w my friends that reside in the opposite coast. Definitely recommend this game
