According to my Amazon account I've bought this 8 times. It works. You just gotta know how to use it and the quirks that make it work for you. It's the only grey-reducing wash of it's kind as far as I know. It's a much more natural look as opposed to dying your beard which more often than not looks fake and silly. I'm pretty sure this has gone through a formula change since I first tried it. Early on, it used to turn your skin black under your beard and it was tough to clean that up. It would stain the skin. Now the formula is more subtle and it cleans up better. Rule #1: WEAR GLOVES! I don't know why anyone wouldn't. What's in this stuff is the same stuff that's in henna. Clean up the edges of your beard with some damp toilet paper or something so you don't accidentally stain your cheeks or neck-line. I get in the shower and try not to wet my face till the very end of washing my body. I do my hair and face last when I apply this stuff, but I only do it once a week (after my weekly shave). It's on my beard for about 10 minutes and then I wash with a scrubby and it all comes off the skin. It's subtle on the beard, but I don't want a drastic change. If you are completely trying to get rid of your grey, then you'll have to use this over and over. I don't mind the grey. I just try to reduce and darken it a tad bit. This all works for me which is why I say there's a learning curve depending on the results you want. I'll continue to use the stuff. A bottle lasts me about 5 months according to my Amazon. It's worth it.

Can we stop with the unnecessary fragrances?

I see all the negative reviews about how this product doesn’t work like it used to. I couldn’t even get that far. Tried it once and was so repelled by the overpowering fragrance (why does beard colorant need to be fragranced at all is the question). Admittedly, I’m sensitive to fragrances added to products in general and do my best to avoid them. Even after washing my face three times with soap I couldn’t get the scent of this stuff off my face. Threw the tube right in the trash.

Damage I don't know

As a black I was hoping this would work. But after a month or so of use, I noticed that I can literally pull hair follicles out of my beard. Literally the white bump follicle. Also my hair is extremely weak, it comes off everywhere I can't brush it without a lot of hair coming out. Of course we all know that dying your hair does make it a weaker state but for a beard it seems like I should just cut it due to the damage. Of course I followed a directions.

Did nothing and customer service offered the same

Tried this 3 times, first two times for 3 minutes, last time for 6 minutes and didn't notice even a hint of change. The dye comes out of the tube a light tan color, not sure how that works with dark brown hair.I messaged their customer service and they said to give it 3 - 4 weeks. My beard only takes 3 weeks to grow, so not sure how this is going to do anything. Maybe it works for some, maybe I need to give it more time, but if their custom support would explain a bit I would be more tempted to try.

At first it was easy to say it wasn't working at all but its not meant to. An instructional point they make is to not use your fingertips but only your palms to work the product into ur beard. Good luck with that. I just use latex gloves to apply, problem solved. Also, after you apply the product its best to wipe away and excess on your skin, ears, lips, nostrils etc. Sometimes it stained. Other times it did not.Overall good experience and I will continue to use it.

My beard has always been a combination of very dark brown (almost black) hair that has a lot of red highlights, especially in bright sunlight. I'm part-Italian so it's very thick and grows fast (I have to trim it weekly). I bought a lighted suction-cup mirror for the shower to help make sure I was getting good beard coverage, but otherwise I was able to integrate it into my morning shower routine with ease.SECOND: this stuff WILL stain your fingernails, or more likely, your cuticles. Rubbing it in with your palms does help, as does vigorous scrubbing with soap and - preferably - a brush of some kind. Or maybe the scruffy part of a hard-plastic scrubbing sponge? But get used to a little staining on your fingertips. It's not terribly noticeable to others, though.THIRD: it can stain the heck out of your shower, too. But it won't if you're prompt about rinsing it off. I recommend getting one of those shower heads at the end of a hose to make such rinsing easier.FOURTH and FINALLY: As mentioned, it's subtle: it took nearly three weeks before I would say things started looking different at all. And even now at seven weeks, I still have a lot of "gray" sprinkled around, it's just a brown-tinted grey so it's less obvious, although the rest of my beard that WASN'T grey has gotten noticeably darker, too, so the contrast is still more than I'd like. But then again, it's grey REDUCING, not grey ELIMINATING.

More natural looking hair coloring

I like that the resulting hair color looks more natural. It doesn't eliminate gray so much as it reduces it. The more often you use it the darker the hair gets. So over time the end of each hair will have been treated more often than at the root. So the hair nearest the root will be lighter. It results in a more layered coloring than a solid color which in older men tends to not look natural. I like this product a lot better than traditional hair coloring products.

Works amazingly well!

This is a fantastic alternative to every day beard dye. While I don’t know the chemistry of the product, it seemingly matches my hair colour perfectly (I am dirty blonde). It’s not intended to completely remove all the grey but when used 2-3 times a week, it reduces it substantially; creating a very natural look. Highly recommended this product

Works!

It works great, but be patient. It'll take about five washes before the hair darkens. Follow the instructions exactly as they're laid out. After that comes the maintenance phase; use it once or twice weekly. It is a good idea to do a skin sensitivity test before using. The scent is strong at first, but it fades away within an hour. I tried other shampoos, but none were as effective as JFM. Its quality is nothing near any other products or henna-based dyes.
