This Cooker and smoker and grill, is the most All in one Experience I've ever owned ! It beats Every Apparatus I've ever used Hands down!!! Its inspiring to ones Imagination as to what one can do with adjustable Grills and grates-direct and indirect heat methods with the 1/2 moon deflectors! I've cooked smoked pizza with burned off mesquite wood that my friends requested another one and then another one!The steaks and burgers and ribs and roasts are way above any resturant quality! This Kamado is the { Best of the Beasts!} I'm big on smoked meats and seafoods I know it will never let me down with the thick ceramics and cold temperatures coming soon! Shipping container was made to be air dropped! The customer service is instant should you ever Have a Question...

I've wanted a BGE for years and was finally able to get one, but before rushing out to buy it I did a bit ofresearch to see if that was what I [really] wanted. After comparing them with the Kamado Joe, the choice was clear...the Kamado Joe has a better design and better features. I've run it a few times now and LOVE how well it works! The Kamado Joe is probably going to end up replacing both of my current smokers (that I use on a regular basis) and my grill, as this does it all... with more ease and accuracy!Highly recommend!!!

Everything I have thrown at this thing, it has excelled. User error obviously is still a thing when getting the hang of it.I am shocked how easy it is to maintain a stable temperature with this thing. I'm talking 12 hours. The Sloroller just produces so much smoke in the meat, awesome dark purple smoke rings. As a grill, the default grates are OK but cast iron half moon is the way to go. Especially when doing a reverse sear.Outside of barbeque, I have also produced some of the best pizza I have ever had, and that's just with a pizza stone not the DoJoe.Obviously there is a learning curve with temp management on ceramic, but once you get there, it does so much so well.Cleaning is mostly easy. I bought this grill as a birthday present for my wife, and the quality of food we've been getting out of it is nothing short of outstanding. The Classic III solves virtually every common kamado grilling difficulty a beginner can have, and with a set of tools, charcoal, and a lighter, you can pretty much grill right out of the box. That being said, a few things could be improved about the package (I'm going to nitpick given the price point):1. The included instructions are threadbare. Clearly one is expected to research what you need to know online, but I like to read manuals and see diagrams. I hate watching a 15-minute YouTube video trying to find 10 seconds-worth of information. So, better printed materials, please. I hate watching a 15-minute YouTube video trying to find 10 seconds-worth of information. So, better printed materials, please. There is zero information about using the Slow Roller included with the Classic III.2. The divide and conquer capabilities are useful, but reconfiguring the grill (especially when it's hot) can be an absolute pain. The grill halves are difficult to align for any height lower than the absolute top level, and even with very thick heat-resistant gloves, my hands can get uncomfortably hot before I can properly lower a rack from a higher to lower position.3. The top vent sticks easily after a few low and slow smokes and must be cleaned often. Without regularly cleaning, it frequently won't open at all unless the grill is hot!4. It should come with touch up paint. (It costs 5 dollars and goes out of stock frequently.)I'm a huge fan otherwise and would strongly recommend this grill to anyone looking to start charcoal grilling and/or smoking.
I got got a Kamado Joe Classic 3 around the end of March. So I wanted to leave a review of my impressions and what I’m going to call a less than good customer support experience, as well as poor quality control. The Kamado Joe has generally been great. My wife and I enjoy cooking on it, and the parts generally feel like they are of quality construction. The problem we had was it came so badly misaligned that the lid wouldn’t close without manually opening the latch. Because of the misaligned dome, when you install the DoJoe, there are large gaps between the dome lid and the DoJoe, preventing it from functioning as a pizza oven. The hot air escapes out the side instead of rolling over the top of the pizza like it is meant to, leaving the top of the pizza uncooked ... MoreI got got a Kamado Joe Classic 3 around the end of March. The hot air escapes out the side instead of rolling over the top of the pizza like it is meant to, leaving the top of the pizza uncooked while the bottom of the pizza burns.Upon receipt of the Kamado, I had checked the tightness of the bands and all the bolts, and they were all quite tight. This would rule out the possibility that the misalignment was a result of the shipping process. Ultimately, the misaligned dome appears reflective of poor quality control. I suspect no one tried to open and close the kamado after installing the lid to ensure that the parts functioned properly.Regardless of how the lid got this way, I contacted support to try to get instructions on how to fix this and they sent me the following:Please follow steps below.• Must install Disengagement tool. This is not just for safety, it allows the hinge to bolt on without spring pressures causing misalignment.• Then loosen all bolts on hinge top bottom and bands.• Reposition the dome to be in the correct position.• Then tighten the bolts a little at a time. All bolts! Don’t just tighten a bolt down.• Then after everything is tightened. Remove Disengagement toolAfter many attempts, taking us several hours, my wife and I could only get the dome partially aligned. After emailing customer service again for further instruction, their cursory and unhelpful response indicated that the company did not have anymore documentation on how to realign the lid, even though an internet search will confirm that I’m not the first person to have this kind of issue. For a high-end product that costs almost $2,000, quality control should be better to prevent the issue of misalignment in the first place. Should an issue exist, you might expect that customer service would help to resolve the issue. Instead, they promptly closed the case, leaving me with a kamado that is not functionally and mechanistically right. What made the process particularly difficult was the fact that if the lid/band are not aligned properly, the bolt the disengagement tool attaches to is too short to actually attach the tool. This seems like a non-trivial design shortfall. Attaching the disengagement tool is so important that it was the only text in bold in their instructions.I had to try to ‘muscle’ the hinge shut while my wife tried to attached the disengagement tool. The whole process was unideal for something that I just paid a lot of money for, and the hinge ended up popping apart while we were doing this and chipped the enamel. I realize this is a cosmetic issue, but I’d like to avoid cosmetic issues for something we just spent a lot of money on and were doing our best to follow the instructions to fix. Fairly basic quality control would have preempted this whole bad experience. There might be better ways to get the disengagement tool on in this scenario, but as shown above, their documentation on this process was not exactly thorough on troubleshooting. It would have been nice to have at least a PDF with pictures, or a video from someone who aligns these lids as part of their day job and explains the steps and pitfalls. At the end, customer service did no more than send me a 3rd party video. All in all, the customer service was responsive to my emails, but their instructions were not helpful. So we are stuck here, with the lid still unaligned. We are hesitant to try aligning it again because we would rather not risk damaging the kamado more.Like I mentioned above, the kamado seems well-built and generally of good quality. However, quality control is lacking, and customer service is unhelpful for issues that require more than simple instructions to resolve.
Despite my dissatisfaction with my other purchases directly from Kamado Joe, I'm very happy with my Classic III so far. I received the grill about 10 days after purchase which is reasonable and the grill arrived in new condition with no damage. I've already cooked on this grill 20-30 times and virtually all of my cooks have come out amazing. I also have a Traeger grill, but have not used it since I got my Kamado Joe. The grill is high quality and has nice features like the lid staying in whatever position you put it in and the metal (heat resistant) shelves are a nice plus. You can place hot grill grates on these shelves with no concerns. The grill temp is easy to control once you get the hang of it. I've made everything from brisket, to salmon, to Jotisserie chicken wings, to wood fired pizza in this thing. I'm very happy with the Jotisserie and the DoJoe. I'm also happy with the soapstone and the cast iron half moon grate (all accessories I purchased from other merchants, as Kamado Joe's customer service is poor - see some of my other reviews for details on this). The included SloRoller also does a great job and evenly smoking meats. I've used it for briskets and reverse searing steaks and both were the best I've ever had. Note: The Classic III INCLUDES the SloRoller and grate gripper attachment. You can also buy them separately (which I did by mistake), but you don't need to. I purchased these items and thus far am out >$150 because Kamado Joe has yet to refund them despite returning them 3 weeks ago.
Want to first say that Brandt in customer service is great, he kept following up with me even when he knew things have not been going great. The speed of delivery was fantastic, the order process was easy and quick, but that is understandable when everything is going right, however the real test is when things go wrong which they have, since I have still not been able to use my new grill yet.Which by the way is no fault of All Things BBQ.This is a long story and I really do not want to rehash it out here. All I want to stress is that the commitment to quality customer service is a priority with All Things BBQ. Kamado Joe not so much, not impressed at all, have still not resolved my problem yet and that is a real concern since they are the ones that have to take ... MoreWant to first say that Brandt in customer service is great, he kept following up with me even when he knew things have not been going great. So I asked a relative who has a commercial smoking rig, what I needed to get to start smoking meat. His answer was unequivocal - Kamado Joe. So for father's day last year (yeah, right, we got it end of July) the grill is delivered. Life has not been the same.We got the Big Joe III, maybe a little much but when you start talking the top of the line, do you *really* want to get that one party or holiday gathering or whatever where you wish you would have just gotten the bigger one? Was not going to happen to me!The performance has been spectacular ... a few lessons learned on my part but if you just think things through and watch the 1000s of youtube videos on the subject, you really have no excuse for messing up. From chicken to pork to brisket - some of the best meals we have eaten ... and dial it up a notch to reverse seared ribeye and you cannot justify any expensive steakhouses again - its too good at home.Only downsides for me have been minor adjustments to the latch (but worth it cuz the seal is absolutely air tight) and the occasional spring popping out ... easy to put it back in. Also, I would love if somebody has a quick'n'easy way of dealing with the "sticky top vent" issue ... generally I take it off and drop it on the ground to get it loose : cleaning it is a beast but a must do to keep too much build up from accumulating. The other challenge is the weight of this beast : getting it in the garage when I leave the house for extended periods is not particularly easy. If you are getting one of the "big joe" models, plan on pretty much keeping it wherever you put it and not moving it more than a few feet, absolutely no rough surfaces.
I love my KJBJ3. The first one I received was slightly cracked, it was replaced immediately. My second one recently had a neighbors tree fall on it, as well as demolish a new shed, fence, and dining set. Insurance replaced that one, and there is something to say about the brand and product. I use mine all the time. I referred my neighbors to them, now there are several in the neighborhood(5 as of writing this) and we have cook-offs frequently. I have all the accessories and it is amazing that you can go from a pizza oven, to a rotisserie to smoking in minutes. The versatility and quality are second to none. I purchased a propane grill this year, hated that it didn't have the charcoal taste so I purchased a cheaper charcoal grill and I was happy to get that smoked flavor back. I gave away the propane grill then purchased the Big Joe III. Oh my God! This baby holds the heat, steadily over a extended period of time. I grilled a baby back rib and chicken wingettes for my wife and the food turned out super delicious. I love it so much, I just purchased a Classic I to replace my cheaper charcoal grill. I am sold and now I will have two Kamado Joes to grill accordingly.
