I bought this a month ago to replace my second protone. I wanted a protone again (both times they have amazingly saved me from nasty head injury) but the discounted ones (they are a bit too much full price) seemed to be out of stock everywhere. I vacillated for ages about changing to a valegro but took the plunge as I desperatly needed a non cracked helmet. Its amazing, fits as beautifully as my old prontones and is more airy. I cant really notice if it is lighter than protone, or whether its less aero. I have noticed the difference with the lack of the front cushion pad tho. Always used to get very sweaty there but noticed as more air gets in at the front it feels breezier and less sweaty. Super high Kask quality as expected. Loving the grey colour too.

I’ve had this now for a month or so and used it many times.Ventilation is the best I’ve used and even better that a previous helmet that I thought was good. With the weather changing so much I’ve already used in all conditions from cold, warm, wind and rain. It works well in all conditions, though due to ventilation I really needed a scoll cap when it was cold. The helmet is comfortable an adjustment is good. It’s super light, with other helmets you can sense you have one on as you move your head around, this is so light you can’t really sense it apart from knowing and feeling the straps. I used it on a 100mile plus ride, very comfortable and had not fatigued or feeling like all I want is to get it off!

I've never owned a Kask helmet before. Over the years, I've owned helmets from Giro, Specialized, Bell, Catlike, Uvex, Orbea, and Mavic. None of those helmets were poorly made, and they all seemed to be made to pretty much similar standards, quality-wise. I was surprised, then, that this Kask helmet is, to my eyes, clearly manufactured to a higher standard. The polystyrene mold lines and in-shell molding are very clean and crisp, with no apparent misalignments. The graphics are all on straight and are either dyed/painted or sublimated on. The straps feel of very high quality with clean, crisp stitching. Really well-made.I got this helmet to replace/supplement a Mavic Comete helmet, that I just bought several months ago (which itself was a replacement of a quite old Orbea Odin). The Comete was fine, but whether due to the implementation of the MIPS or otherwise, I found it quite hot (despite its claims of excellent airflow) and that its browpad would quickly become saturated and dump significant amounts of accumulated sweat into my glasses, even on relatively cool days (think mid 70s). It was annoying enough that I got the Kask as a lightweight, long and hot ride helmet.Despite the Kask helmet not having a browpad (it does come with an optional stick-on pad, which I've not used), the airflow off the forehead keeps my glasses relatively dry, other than the occasional small drip when its really hot. The helmet is very light and very well ventilated. The lightest and best ventilated helmet I've ever owned, I think, though the Catlike and S-Works helmets were close. The pleather chin strap is surprisingly comfortable and very easy to use and adjust. An added bonus is that it stays where it is adjusted, unlike nearly all my other helmets. The helmet's y-straps just clear my earlobes and lie flat perfectly. While it works for me, I can see the non-adjustable y-straps potentially being a problem for someone with a larger head (I measured my head at about 59 and 3/4 cm around and am wearing a size L).But, the helmet is not perfect, even for me. The retention system's vertical adjustment does not lock into place, which means that every time I put on and take off the helmet, it needs to be adjusted. Sometimes, when I go from just cruising on the hoods to sprinting in the drops (and thereby changing my back/neck angles) I hear a click or two of the vertical adjustment moving. Also, as others have mentioned, the lack of a brow pad and the thin padding does lead to some pressure points at the front/top of my head. About 20 miles into my first ride with the helmet, it was a real problem, until I backed off the dial of the adjustment system by a click or two. That resolved the problem on that ride, and pretty much every ride since. As a result, the helmet doesn't feel as "locked down" as many other modern helmets, but it still feels relatively secure on my head (and doesn't seem to shift or move just in normal riding).

I have used Kask Helmets for the past 10 years and love them. Fits great just like all my old ones. I have always loved the leather strap on the helmet one of the selling points for me since I really dislike the fabric straps on my chin.Bought Medium.5'10"185 lbs32 waist32 Length42.5 Shoe Size7 1/4 (22.75 Circ) Head.
Originally got a POC Ohme Spin in M but it was too tight near the temples. Although the M and L are supposed to over lap in size the large was way too big even with the retention system at max so took back and tried other helmets on. This was much more comfortable, is super lightweight and the retention system more adjustable. The leather chin strap is really comfortable and feels of high quality.Would highly recommend.Service at Sigma was as always really good and easy to manage returns and get advice on the new helmet.
As other reviews mentioned, the side strap "V" length and position are not adjustable, so it may fit very well, or not so well, depending on your head size and shape. For me, the V was too long, placing the buckles right at my jawline, which was not comfortable. The thick synthetic leather chin strap is a nice touch, but can't be easily shortened, unlike thinner nylon straps. When I tightened the chin strap the extra strap stuck straight out about 2 inches past the retaining loop, not a great look for a helmet strap. As for size, I was just at the size break for S/M, but the small was way too small, definitely order the medium if you're between sizes.Weight is just ok for a helmet advertised as super-light. The small is 230 grams, the medium is 250 grams. While still light, these weights are significantly higher than the weights you'll see in many reviews for the lighter EU helmets, made to a lesser safety standard than the US CPSC standard. I guess an extra 40 grams is worth it if it saves your noggin. This is a stylish, well ventilated and well made helmet, but the fixed side straps were a deal breaker for me. There's certainly a lot less fiddling to get the helmet fitted, but only if those fixed straps work for you.
Please note this review is based upon the fit and finish of the helmet, I didn't get to ride it! I purchased this as I wanted a cooler lid for the French Alps. I am a huge fan of the Kask Protone which fits me like a glove, but is a bit warm for summer in the mountains. The Valegro is noticeably lighter and significantly more ventilated than the Vertigo and the quality of the materials and finish is as high as ever from Kask. However, the fit was really odd on me - so much so I had to return it to Sigma without getting to ride it. The Valegro sits higher on the head than a Protone and I could just not get it to sit right, the front of the helmet dug into my forehead as I had to tighten it too much to get a secure fit.So, it's a great looking lid and no doubt very ... MorePlease note this review is based upon the fit and finish of the helmet, I didn't get to ride it! For some time I was in two minds whether to buy this helmet. I have a Protone that is brilliant but Sigma were selling it for a good price and I decided to try it for a couple of trips in very warm weather.I am extremely glad that I did. It is extremely light, very comfortable (though obviously best to try it first and not take my word!) and most importantly it has exceptional ventilation.I used it in the mountains in the back country of Nice in temperatures in the mid 30s and then in mountains around Bormio with similar temperatures on the Mortirolo, Gavia and Stelvio. I hardly noticed the helmet, just undoing the strap on the ascents although it is a very comfortable synthetic ‘leather’. Nice helmet. Bought in addition to my Kask Mojitos for extra ventilation during hot weather rides. I have a Catlike Mixino too but it's in my French house where, at this time of travel restrictions, I can't get to. They're similarly lightweight and vented and also share a tendency to create pressure on the forehead. I find a lightweight sweat band (such as the one made by Grip Grab) relieves this and, of course, soaks up sweat! I'm a fan of Kask's strap over the Mixino's plus the Valegro sits better on my head and is lessbulbous! I anticipate the Valegro becoming my preferred summer helmet though I still like the Mixino's quirky looks. Given all that, if I had to choose one helmet, I'd probably go for the Mojito which imo remains a great all round helmet at a ... MoreNice helmet. I bought this helmet as a present for my wife to replace her older one and she loves it. The Valegros are incredibly light, the padding is comfortable, the adjustments let her fine tune the fitting. Highly recommended.
