I like this idea of layering better than having to take everything off.Great head movement and adjustable head size with a Velcro adjuster on the back of the head. I noticed the rain didn't get in my eyes and had great all round visibility.Love the extra layer on the front zipLove that it does NOT have a zipper on the armpit. These I have found to be not waterproof.Best waterproof rating without looking like a goof wearing it.Great value for money

I had the previous version of this jacket and it kept me dry through 4 hrs of decent rain on a hike. This version has improved media pocket access under the storm flap which means you dont have to open the zip to access your phone. Also improved hood adjustment with velcro on the back of the hood. Only complaint is that Kathmandu did not add pit zips to the new version either! It seriously needs them otherwise quickly becomes sweaty on climbs. Just bought new version, yet to be tested out in the field.

First time I decent heavy rain and water got in an soaked my cheek in about 10 mins . I had the hood strings pulled right and I feel the water came on via the holes for the drawstring, which due to poor design gives direct access for water to get to the inside of the jacket . Also poor hoot and peak design, I could feel water getting in sides of hood even when drawn tight . Was not an issue with a previous Kathmandu jacket I had , not my previous torpedo 7 jacket . I expected more for this price product, especially is this only happened in the suburbs and I was hoping to take this up into to the mountains tramping. Will be returning it
I have had this jacket for several years and many journeys. I've found it to be excellent in many climate conditions from trail to city and comfortable to wear even in hot, sticky underground metros. However the seal tape de-laminated so the jacket leaks through the seams.. Kathmandu staff told me that it is an old model and can't be fixed which is a bummer as the fabric, zips and lining are still in good condition.
My wife and I bought the precursor to this line (Aysen) in December 2020: the men's jacket and pants and the women's jacket. Unfortunately the gore tex stopped working on only the second wear. Our first wear was for 10-15 minutes of a light downpour in the Otways in July 2021 and our second wear was for two hours of consistent rain at Wilson's Promontory in November 2021. After an hour of wear in November we felt clammy and when we took our gear off, our clothes felt damp on the sleeves. Not what we expected from waterproof gear. Kathmandu has fantastic hike and day packs and hiking boots, but be cautious with their wet weather gear. Caveat: they may have made improvements since December 2020.

I could see the water was not pearling anymore and the jacket will change colour because of getting wet.Few weeks ago I did a 15 min bike ride with medium rain and I got really wet. Therefore I finally decided to go to a store and asked them. The vendor told me it's probably because I didn't take care about it by washing it etc... etc... Ok so maybe when I bought it, someone should have tell me how to take care of it. I was rapt when I saw this jacket. I d been looking for a new Gore-Tex jacket for some time. As soon as I d received the delivery, I was able to test it in a torrential downpour which hit Auckland as an effect of yet another massive storm. The jacket performed excellently and I am pleased with my purchase!
Bought this jacket the morning before an overnight hike. Turns out we got stuck out in very harsh rain and wind until early hours of the morning. This jacket kept me dry for around 8 hours of fairly heavy rain. This jacket also did a very good job at breaking the wind for me. Would recommend
Been a couple years since I got mine on sale to use as an everyday jacket and for archery. I am assuming I got a Bealey as it looks the same and the name rings a bell.On the plus side it is a good jacket with nice pockets and nice materials. It keeps you relatively warm but on a proper winters day you will still feel it. Whole jacket can be folded and rolled into the hoodie section which is cool.Sizing wise I got a small and being average height and build find the sleeves a bit long (despite having long arms for my height) and a little bit baggy at times. I cannot recommend this product to anyone who is paying full price and I tolerate it because I got at "low" price but I often wish I saved that money to get something that actually stops rain...
