This is a wonderful midi keyboard with a great feel and playability. It is very solid in construction and oozes quality. Just the keys, please. There are no extraneous buttons or controllers to distract and it has a blank top to place other instruments and equipment. My previous instrument was a Yamaha S90-ES, so I am used to that feel. This is pretty close. They white keys aren't quite as polished (from use?), but I expect them to be soon. As I read in another review, the black keys have a coarse feel on the top instead of a polished feel I am used to. That is a distraction that I will overcome. It feels and plays with genuine appeal that makes me want to play more classical styled pieces in my live streams. Now I get to find more authentic piano samples for it.

I hesitated at first when buying the vpc1 because I haven't tried one myself. After reading many positive reviews, I decided to go for it. Kawai vpc1 did not disappoint. I like the key action and all wooden keys. The key action is better than Yamaha Clavinova clp575 which is my previous piano.I pair my vpc1 with Ravenscroft 275 virtual piano, Focusrite Scarlett Solo audio interface, and two Yamaha HS5 studio monitors. The sound is great.

I don't usually write reviews but wanted to add one here about this specific bundle. Before ordering, I was skeptical of the stand that comes with it. With something like the VPC1 you don't want a flimsy stand. But looking at the pictures, it seemed to be identical to the K&M Omega, which is $200 and one of the most highly regarded keyboard stands on the market. I took a chance and placed the order. Sure enough, on the shipping notice I could tell the manufacturer was K&M. Now that it's sitting peacefully in my house, I can verify that it is indeed the K&M Omega. So yeah, for $60 more than the standalone VPC1, you get a $200 stand that is absolutely top-notch. As for the bench and the pedals ... It's truly everything you've heard it is, and more.Beginner or experienced. This thing really responds closer to an acoustic than anything out there.Using it with Ivory II Grand Pianos. Didn't care for the German D before on two keyboards. Now it's the most interesting piano I have. Brings Ivory II to life. There is more to it than a simple custom velocity curve.Love everything about it.
The Kawai VPC1 has completely realistic piano action, with full length keys, Graded hammer weighting + counterweightstriple-sensor key detection, let-off simulation (allowing for the keys to be rapidly re-pressed before the key returns to fully up). The triple sensors add to accurate dynamic control while using virtual pianos such as Pianoteq. The stand included in this package is solid, and very well built with excellent fit and finish. Highly recommended!

After Horowitz died, his Steinway with ivory keys was taken to various music conservatories. Each teacher got about 14 minutes to do a recital with their best students. I actually got to play his Steinway! About 2 years ago there was a Yamaha store near St. Louis that isn't open anymore. On display there was a 9 ft Yamaha concert grand that had a 60,000 dollar price tag, the key action was smooth as butter. The VPC1 synthetic ivory feels very close to the keys on Horowitz's Steinway, and the key action, I can't tell a difference between the VPC1 and that 9 ft concert grand at the Yamaha store I tried. So basically in my studio at home, I might as well have a full concert grand when the VPC1 is paired with the piano software that has become nearly a dime a dozen at this point (EastWest, Native Instruments, Air, etc). If you are a pianist who has been playing most of their life like I have, just get the VPC1 if you want an 88 key midi controller for playing piano parts, especially if you are going to be playing classical music. I honestly feel as though I can practice classical music on the VPC1. I have had many digital pianos and 88 key controllers. Korg Triton Prox, Korg SP200, some Yamaha digital piano (can't remember the model name) I bought dirt cheap when I was stationed in Japan (and that digital piano felt amazing also but sold it before I got out of the Navy as I didn't want to deal with moving it), Roland HP1900G. I also tried a digital grand piano that felt amazing as well but had a 20,000 dollar price tag. Have played Kawai pianos for most of my life (many teachers have had them as well as Steinway). After trying that digital grand I fell in love with Kawai. The VPC1 feels the same as that digital grand, much lower price point. Thank you Kawai.

The VPC1 hooked up to either my Dell ultra book or custom desktop with no problem and no intermediary hardware. I bought Galaxy Vintage D and Alicia's Keys. I love switching between the Yamaha and Steinway - just wish there were more supported pianos for the approved velocity curves.It looks great and the action is fantastic - only bettered by the Yamaha AG and NU1 action in a digital (that I've tried). I never thought a sampled piano could sound so realistic and feel so responsive. I use this for practice instead of a much more expensive solution. Bought blind and the only trouble is now I want to buy every virtual piano on the market. Don't hesitate to buy - K&M Omega stand is perfect for this instrument.
This is a top of the line keyboard. Most every review you read or hear tells you it feels and acts just like an acoustic piano. Well that is totally true. I'm using this in my Studio for the purpose of rehearsal and recording. I connected it to a Mac laptop. Found out after the VPC-1 arrived that to get quality audio you need a USB to audio converter. So I got a Focusrite unit that does a fantastic job. You plug the USB out of your laptop (or computer) into the converter and you get stereo audio that you can send to a mixer of amp.
