Really these feel like shoes, but from my experience of hiking the AT in these, I fell in love. They lasted so much longer than any other persons footwear I hiked with. The ankle support SAVED me so many times! And the customer service from keen when they finally gave out at over a 1000 miles was top knoch! I’d buy them again and again. If your looking for a boot that has the flexibility of a shoe this is the go to! Way better than altra or topo everyday! At least for me. I had a 10.5 wide and it fit perfectly with either a liner and a sock or just socks, I never felt like me feet were confined or didn’t have the room I needed for the inevitable swelling with hiking that far. Really an amazing boot, and it is waterproof! At least up to 800 miles of abuse. Keen ... MoreReally these feel like shoes, but from my experience of hiking the AT in these, I fell in love. I’m happy with these - they have excellent construction, needed no break-in, and are very comfortable. I’ve worn them on full-day hikes and to the office. They aren’t overstyled or overly bulky. However, in comparison to my Salomon Quest 4D GTX (which are overstyled and overly bulky), these still feel heavier and less flexible despite being a smaller boot and having the bellows flex feature. The tongue gusset is really low, and while I haven’t had to test that yet, it doesn’t seem very functional. There is also a noticeable ridge of hard material inside the toe box just along the toenail area of my pinky and ring toes, but the toe box is very ample so it tends to not bother me. The grip of my Salomon’s on wet rock and loose dirt is superior to these, I slipped more ... MoreI’m happy with these - they have excellent construction, needed no break-in, and are very comfortable. However, they lace up very securely around the ankle and top of the foot, so that combined with the massive toe box make these my most comfortable boot for descending.

This was a warranty claim on a pair of boots which didn't last - customer service was incredibly swift to review my case and approve a warranty within a couple weeks. Thank you!So far, these boots are fantastic. Incredibly comfortable, good looking, and lightweight. The bellow flex system is cool, it will be interesting to see how it lasts long term. So far it feels a lot easier bending the foot, and it does feel like there's a slight spring in my step.Lacing can be a bit fiddly, as there's a slight 'lip' in the top hooks (which is great for keeping the laces secure) but not so great trying to lace the boots without looking. This isn't much of an issue though. The laces are nice too, they're tough and slightly wavy, which seems to keep them tied tighter for ... MoreThis was a warranty claim on a pair of boots which didn't last - customer service was incredibly swift to review my case and approve a warranty within a couple weeks. I bought these for their usual use in alpine environments. They seem super comfortable, really good for brief running when needed with the profile of the heel and toe of the sole for the heel strike and roll off of the toe during a stride. The nice big Keen toe boxes seem great. I like the non-hook style lacing which runs most of the way up to the last 2 hooks. I bought a 0.5 US size larger than my normal running shoe, and it seems nice. I like the extra lateral ankle support and the super cushy sole for impacts. I can literally sprint in these boots for 50 metres and it feels almost like a running shoe. It seemed the sizing ran only slightly small, but only slightly, as mentioned perhaps 0.5 US. Altitude shipping arrived a day early, no issues.
Bought a pair of Ridge Flex, size 15 to replace my amazing Durands because they were not in stock in my size. The Flex boot is horribly flawed. I mistakenly ordered a 14, that was to tight, returned easily and bought the 15...on the side of too big. The Durands fit perfect. Overall my issues are this...the bellows...bad design...really bad design...it bunches up if you lace the boot tight, I've never felt that I needed my boot to be easier to bend at the toe...ever...in any boot...it gives the structure of the boot a flimsy feel...AND...in my size that bellows is smack dab where my motorcycle shifter sits. They don't feel nearly as supportive as the Durand, the bellow area just feels off when you wear them...also...there's an exposure issue here...this thin rubber ... MoreBought a pair of Ridge Flex, size 15 to replace my amazing Durands because they were not in stock in my size. Pretty much anything hot, heavy or pointy is going to meet your lil piggies in an unfavorable way and make your $150 boots toast. Quality boots have been made of all leather for ever...this seems like a leather/money saving ploy vs some new amazing shoe technology...which it's not...it's a bad idea...really bad. I would say, don't buy these. It's unfortunate for me to write this, having owned something like 10 pairs of Keen boots over the years. I don't like the fit, the sizing is on the large side, they are deficient in stability and really lacking in protection and I'm willing to wager a bit that the longevity under any situation where you have top foot contact, is going to be limited with the bellows. I ordered them then they sat in the box for a month while I eeked the last life out of my Durands...first wear of these I wanted to return, but I was out of the return time frame.
I purchased my first pair of this style boot last year and it was very comfortable, so I decided to purchase a second pair of the same model when they were on sale. When I finally got a chance to try the new pair on, there’s a manufacturing defect inside the boot, poor workmanship, forcing my foot in angle uncomfortable towards the center. The customer service representative said my return was denied, even though the boots are still brand new and in the box. They said they do not stand behind the boots because they can’t see a manufacturing defect. It is impossible to see the manufacturing defect you can only feel it when the boot is on!!Seriously? They don’t stand behind it when there is a defect in the fit bed of the boot. It is unwearable. I wasn’t asking for my money back. I’m asking for them to exchange the boot that’s it because there is a problem with the boot.I feel that they should exchange this new pair of boots for another pair for me without question because the right boot has a flaw in the footbed. I was led to believe when I purchased the boots that they stand behind their product.Again, this is my second pair of these and I’m still wearing the first pair because they haven’t worn out yet and I’m very satisfied with them. Here is their response, “ Hello Wayne,Your warranty claim #xxxxxxx has been denied.KEEN’s warranty program covers manufacturing and materials flaws for one year on original items purchased from KEEN authorized retailers. No defects are evident in your photos and our warranty does not cover fit or comfort issues.”Think twice about ordering from this company
Hello. I bought these boots in Europe (I clarify in case there is a difference between European and American products). They look stylish and good. Before that, I had 2 pairs of sandals and 1 pair of boots from the Keen brand and I know my Keen size - 9.5 US. (I also bought Revel 3, I will write a review about them on the corresponding page). The actual size of the Ridge Flex turned out to be larger than indicated. Even when I wear two pairs of socks, I still have a margin for length. The next claim, it is the main one - saving on trifles. The seam threads on my boots were torn. I did not attach importance to this right away, it was not striking, but over time, a month later, I began to pay attention to this, it began to be an eyesore. I did not attach importance to this right away, it was not striking, but over time, a month later, I began to pay attention to this, it began to be an eyesore. Keen made good boots, but small savings and / or manufacturing defects spoil the impression very much. If there is any doubt in my words, I can add a photo of broken threads on the seams.I have been wearing keen shoes for a long time, I like the quality and style, but this time I got a bad pair. I hope that the management after reading my review will correct the situation. It's a shame to lose such a brand because of ... we call it "saving on matches"
I bought your boots as new work boots as I work in the National parks so I’m doing a lot of holding up small hills and steps. On a bunch bunch of recommendations to the Keen brand, I purchased a set of boots on 10/4/21, and got them 10/12/21, and writing this review on 3/28/22.I got them then under the impression that they are waterproof, as I work in slushy snow most of the winter and lots of water through spring and fall. The fit is really good. I have wide flat feet with a broken toe, and they are still some of the most comfortable boots shape. So that part is a 10/10.However after the first use I realized that my feet were completely wet and even had water in my boot, also the boots do not have any kind of traction in snow and icy conditions. So that part is a 10/10.However after the first use I realized that my feet were completely wet and even had water in my boot, also the boots do not have any kind of traction in snow and icy conditions. I was not in more then 1 inch of snow. I had let them dry out completely, then kept using them on non snow days. Fast forward to yesterday I had to do a lot of snow removal on asphalt, so I was working in lots on snow melt puddles. Agin my feet became really wet to the point of holding water, all with in the first 3hrs of a 10hr work day. Today I have noticed that the rubber sole is starting to pull away from the what feels like foam. While I am happy with the fit of the boot, these other issues are highly unsatisfactory when a boot with a costs at $200 and only about 5 months old. At this point I do not feel that I can keep using my boot due to all the water I have to work in currently but it leaves me at a loss because I now have to go shopping for new work boots.
Gave these boots a workout walking over the summer on rough ground in the Rockies. Wasn't mountain climb, just moderate terrain. At first I thought that they were too soft to protect my feet. Turned out the soft sole worked great for traction and comfort and protected my feet even though I could feel small rocks thru the sole. My feet always felt great at the end of the day. They are waterproof in snow on rain. Great boots with one problem. The rubber flex feature failed splitting at the hinge valleys. The rest of the boot still in good condition. Correction: I did have to " Shoe Goo" the rubber scuff piece on the side of one of the boots.I would buy another pair without the flex feature but then they wouldn't be "flex" boots.
I love this boot, it's designed for hiking and is VERY stable. The accordion system for flexing the front part of the boot is ingenious, and it really does keep your feet from getting fatigued from the typical compression in that area of the foot. Toe box is generous (and I have very wide feet -- 13 4E) and the boot seems to displace moisture well. I've worn them with both alpaca and wool socks, and never had issues with moisture. They definitely keep water out very well too. This is a very well-constructed and cleverly designed hiker that brings together all the design, toughness, durability, and wearability of the Keen brand. Excellent hiking boot!
