Impulse buy in Danish outdoor store - rainy days but lots of festivals, dancing, walking - I’m so happy about these extremely comfortable lightweight boots. More room for the toes, more bouncy feedback from the sole system, feels solid build and dirt vanishes easily. I’d easily rate these several points above recent brought Nike air Jordans at nearly twice the price.Did not know anything about Keen beforehand, but I’ll definitely look out for what’s coming - as obviously Keen produce pro direction, this boot is funky enough on the EDM floor with great support all the way round and well controlled bouncy to keep the feet from any sourness. Only small minus would be heat, but I had thick socks on in pretty humid rainy summer conditions, something that is easily ... As expected from Keen, comfort tops the priority list. The wide toe box gives you more than enough wiggle room and does not put pressure on your toes. The footbed provides cushioning for all day comfort at the same time it is stiff enough to support your foot while exploring different terrains. The waterproof uppers worked as advertised and it keeps your feet dry but with a caveat, being the shoes are low-cut, you are limited to the height of water you can walk over. The low-cut design makes the shoe lighter and easier to wear. Traction design gives you security regardless of the terrain you throw at it.I'm not a big fan of the shoe laces though. They get undone quite easily regardless how hard you tie them, unless you double knot the shoe laces it will get undone. ... MoreAs expected from Keen, comfort tops the priority list. I hope that Keen would take a look at this design in future iteration. As I received these shoes to be reviewed, I did not have the opportunity to try the sizing physically. I used the "fit predictor" on Keen's website. Referencing other brands I used before, I was advised that I'm a size 9, which is the same size I wear with other brands. When I received the shoes it's a bit long to my liking, 8 1/2 would have worked. For first time Keen buyer, I think it would be better to try the shoes in person.I'm not keen on the giant branding on the upper shoe body. It feels out of character as if they are targeting younger consumers. The toe guard is the company's signature identity and is enough to distinguish it from other brands. All in all, the NXIS EVO is a promising waterproof hiking and all around shoes that needs some minor refinement.

Over the course of 2-3 weeks I tested these Keen Waterproof Hiking Shoes almost entirely on extended forest hikes in a variety of conditions from cold and dry to warm and wet/muddy. While crossing some shallow streams I intentionally walked into the water to test how waterproof these shoes really are. The trails I used were very rolling with some steep sections.Overall, my experience with these shoes was very enjoyable. They were comfortable, and provided excellent traction under all but the muddiest conditions. My feet remained totally dry despite walking through shallow streams and miles of very muddy trails.Being winter here in Central Maryland, the temperatures at times were rather low, but my feet stayed comfortably warm. The craftsmanship is very nicely done. Keen seems to have invested a lot of thought and energy in the design and in the construction of these waterproof hiking shoes. My only suggestion is to try on a couple of different sizes as my size 9 pair may be a bit large, but I am not convinced of that. This is not a criticism, just a suggestion!

I'm a longtime Keen wearer, and had no idea about this boot beforehand. I prefer faster lighter mid-height boots in all conditions and weather.Weight is 460 grams and 470 grams for a men's 10.5. Conditions ranged from frozen ruts and powdered sugar snow to late-day melt, mud and pavement. I'll cut to the chase: this pair of Keens is easily my least favorite hiking/trail boot or shoe in recent memory. Where do I start....The laces regularly came undone no matter how tight or loose or pattern. Only double knots kept them together all hike. Coming from the likes of a Merrell Moab hiker which stays tied from beginning to end, these were a small pain to deal with. Maybe a shoelace lock would be an answer. The insole is too thick and squishy and makes the toebox ... MoreI'm a longtime Keen wearer, and had no idea about this boot beforehand. The insole is too thick and squishy and makes the toebox restrictive even with thin Smartwools. I believe they made it thicker and spongier because the boot is very uncomfortable in the forefoot. Replaced with my usual Superfeet (black) it opened up the toebox tremendously and allowed a midweight Smartwool sock to help with the boot's discomfort. At least 25% of testing was with the Keen supplied insole, and I could not wait to rip them out.The "heel lock" seems gimmicky. It's high up in the Achille's, and has no bearing on locking in the heel. The yellow protrusion aka "heel lock" collects debris from the very shallow V-cut in the boot if you wear a shorter or jogger/tapered style pant; it's a funnel for everything to fall into the boot. And because of the aforementioned lace issue the top of the boot would lose its tight closure. Solution: double-knot the lace and always wear longer pants.Lateral support is minimal. Closer to a shoe than a mid height, and I wasn't doing a lot of steep off camber trails. What did I like about the boots? The melt, mud and collected snow never seeped in. I'm more of a mesh and merino type or a treated leather wearer, and temps were averaging freezing so I had no issues with hot feet, but I am sensitive to swelling with waterproof aka not very breathable products.Maybe the full boot version is the answer to my minor peeves. I found the mid to be a slow boot, if that makes sense. It's not springy, there's no perceived rebound and energetic spring with the lugs. My heart rate and perceived effort and fatigue level after training were always higher with this boot. It's not a fast trail hiker nor a very confidence inspiring all-day option, at least for me. If the full boot had deeper lugs it would not only help with traction but maybe add comfort and lateral support. I know this would take away any marketed or perceived "fast light hiker", but you can't be everything to everyone. Skip the mid, go for the full boot or shoe, throw in your favorite insole, and double knot. Or simply buy another waterproof boot if you really need waterproof footwear.
Would be great if they had a wide version, but overall they fits well especially compared to other brands that tend to run narrow with this style of shoe. The toe of the shoe is sturdy and offers some protection. It doesn't advertise this as toe cap protection, but it is more rigid than competitors, which is a plus to me. I work in film production, and use this as a work shoe. It checks the box of tennis shoe comfort, but with added ankle support as a high-top. Rubber sole grips well and is quiet on indoor surfaces. The shoe is waterproof, yet feet stay cool. Slick looking shoe too. So far, so good.
These have been the best Keen's I've ever owned. Size 13, straight outta the box, fit like a glove. Managed to get the rare Black/Evening primrose pair. To me, the perfect colors of black, navy and a lil that Keen neon green/yellow. If your a NFL fan, straight Seahawk colors. What was just to be my weekend off/day shoes turned into my everyday work shoe as well. Super light weight and durable plus waterproof. I've been wearing this same pair for close to over 2 years. Going on my 2nd pair now after wearing the sole's completely down to the point i can see numbers and letters on the bottom of the shoe it's so smooth but they've been so great i don't want to give them up. Bought these online, on sale plus an REI reward coupon. Really wanted to like the boots-- lightweight and seemed to have excellent combination of support and cushion (with an aftermarket insole added). Plenty of toe box room, as expected. Main problem was lateral slippage of the tongue, L >> R, with unrelenting discomfort on the lateral ankle. Saw just one review complaining of same issue. Attempted to re-train the tongue on multiple short "break in" walks but ultimately had to return. Appreciate the liberal REI return policy. Found a similar sort of lightweight, mesh, waterproof mid height boot from La Sportiva with roomy toe box . . . and a more user-friendly tongue and ankle fit.
I use these NXIS EVO Waterproof boots exclusively for winter disc golf. For those who don't know, disc golf is played in tons of different outdoor conditions year-round. Elevations, rocks, mud, grass, snow, you name it. I play between 20-30 miles a week on various courses and need shoes that protect my feet from the elements while providing great traction and all-day comfort. These are them. They have an athletic mid-sole that is responsive, but not too squishy. They are waterproof! I actually bought these to replace a pair of boots I bought from a north-facing company which leaked immediately. They are warm, roomy, and dry. I cannot recommend these boots enough. I need to find the summer equivalent for playing later this year when the rain stops.
Typically wear an 11 (in Keens), but purchased an 11.5 in order to provide room for heavier hiking socks. First trip out +/-3,000' and 6mi, no issues. Ankle support is comfortable and does not seem to inhibit scrambling across rocks. There is a Lacing D-Ring below the one and only Lacing Hook (@ top of boot), which I could see becoming an issue if someone really synched down on the lace. There are four "ornamental" blue Lacing D-Rings on the lower sector of the boot, but the lace goes through the D-Ring and through a Lacing Eyelet, so synching pressure is focused on the Eyelet in this location. In the case of the Lacing D-Ring, it's simply a blue (relatively small) lace that is smaller in diameter than the shoelaces themselves. Anyone who's broken a shoelace can ... Otherwise, nice wide toe box that Keen's are known for, and the toe bumper seems reasonably well constructed, as does the sole.
Used this in the muddy trails of Georgia and Alabama during winter 2022/2023 as well as on a trip to the Colorado Rockies for a week in January of 2023. They were great at keeping my feet dry from the elements, and they were rather stylish. I had a few compliments on these Keens from friends. Because they are waterproof, spraying the mud off the bottom was not an issue (Georgia mud is thick and sticky). I was pleasantly surprised that they also felt warm (with appropriate socks) while I was urban walking around snowy/icy Breckenridge, CO. I felt secure walking on treated sidewalks that had a few inches of ice and packed snow on them. The laces held up well, and never got undone with a simple bow knot. I felt secure walking on treated sidewalks that had a few inches of ice and packed snow on them. The laces held up well, and never got undone with a simple bow knot. My one complaint is the yellow heel keeper which I believe is designed to keep your heel from rising too high while you're hiking -- my issue was that this yellow friction point made it annoyingly difficult to get my heel into the shoe at times; to compensate for it, I had to undo the laces more than I usually do with other shoes/boots. Although, I would recommend this for the outdoors and hiking, I would not recommend it for a travel shoe. I wore these traveling from Georgia to Colorado by plane since I did not have room to pack these larger shoes into my suitcase...traveling in them was far less comfortable than in my runners sneakers (which was packed in my suitcase). Once I sat down for the three-hour flight, I regretted the Keens, but I had no choice. Otherwise, these are definitely a keeper.
