I use shoes for what they’re meant for so with these keen shoes I exclusively use them for hiking in the woods. Iv had them for 2 years and they are holding up incredibly well! There isn’t a single stitch ripped or and rubber that’s separated. They’re basically in mint condition! The break in period was quite bad to be honest and took like 2 weeks for the odd pain I was feeling at my ankle to break in but once it did these boots have felt like walking with armor on through the woods! These boots obviously wouldn’t be good for super long distance hikes and my feet do tend to sweat in them a bit but it’s worth having the waterproofing and protection. I’m looking forward to the day these things fall apart so I can get myself another pair of hiking shoes but by the way ... MoreI use shoes for what they’re meant for so with these keen shoes I exclusively use them for hiking in the woods. Good boots so far

I have only worn these as everyday shoes so far and haven't taken them out on the trails. They tookma bit of breaking in and the ankles are still not the most comfortable. Some reviews said that they ran a bit large so I got them a half size larger than I would have; that wasn't necessary in my case. It is a bit difficult to get the foot to be tight enough without the ankles being uncomfortable. I'm sure that they'll get better with use and like that they are leather instead of ventilated, especially with winter setting in. They were purchased to replace a pair of waterproof boots which aren't waterproof, but I haven't tested their waterproofness much yet, but they worked well when clearing 6" of slushy snow.

Good but not excellent

These boots are pretty good but not what I was hoping for, which was a close copy of my previous Keene boots. These are the closest match I could find at REI, and they’re similar to many other mid weight hikers I’ve had in the past, but not as nice as the model I was trying to replace and which is no longer available. They are more stiff and had a substantially longer breaking in period that involved blisters on both ankles. The ankles are tighter than I’m used to. They have a notch cut into the ankle that’s more pronounced and that took getting used to, and that I think overdoes the need for a notch there. My previous Keenes broke in quickly and maintained their excellent fit over 800+ miles, while these haven’t achieved similar softness and closeness of fit after ... MoreThese boots are pretty good but not what I was hoping for, which was a close copy of my previous Keene boots. That said, they’re fine and reasonably grippy and water resistant. Doing fine during a long Vermont winter.

Great boot. Will they hold up?
14 September 2022

These boots are very comfortable with a wide toe box. I have a neuroma that gets irritated with a regular or narrow boot and these are wide enough not to cause issues. I have had several Keen boots and although they are great for day hikes I find that they don’t hold up to multi day backpacking trips as well as more appropriate backpacking boots. These will be my dedicated day hikers.

Much darker than the photos
4 April 2023

I’m a Keen guy. These are my fourth pair through the years. When I opened the box I thought I’d ordered the wrong color (it happens), or that they’d sent the wrong color (that happens too)—but neither of those things happened. What happened was this—whoever took the photos of these boots for the Nordstrom Rack website brightened the color a LOT. In real life these boots are a very dark brown and look nothing like the photos. Only when you get them out in the full noonday sun can you discern (barely) they they have a very, very subdued deep green undertone beneath the deep mushroom brown. But you know what? After the shock wore off I fell in love with their trippy Elvin deep forest vibe. And of course because they’re Keens they’re very well built, have just the right ... MoreI’m a Keen guy. And of course because they’re Keens they’re very well built, have just the right amount of room in the toe box, and just make you feel solid and safe as you hit the trail. Can’t wait to start breaking them in on my morning dog walk (and as solid leather they need some breaking in).

Nice shoe for 3 months or less
2 December 2022

Comfortable, water/puddle proof, nice grip, breaks in well... 3 months in and or about 30 total miles or less, sole ripped. Glued back. 1 month later 10 or so miles, sole ripped in another spot, 1.5 months later or about 50 total miles in shoes- sole ripped in many spots. 1.5 months later after lots of shoegoo, the leather shoe lace metal loop ripped right out. So in total approximately 6 months of use, and 75 miles or less. Non-repairable. 3 months or less soles needed to be glued. When they did work, they worked great!

Snug, soft, and secure.
2 March 2022

These boots fit like gloves. I took some time to break them in before taking them on trail and it was worth it. The leather really forms to your foot over time. I have wide feet, but for me the toe box fit perfectly. It did take some time experimenting with different lacing methods to get the perfect fit so I would encourage any potential buyer to look up tips for lacing up hiking boots if these or any others give you hot spots etc. I do find myself re-lacing these, or having to tighten them after a few hours of use, but the leather is conforming, and the laces still stretching so its fine with me. Im looking forward to future adventures with these.

Solid boot
18 January 2023

I bought these to eventually replace my older Pyrenees boots which I’ve had for 10 years. I say eventually because they are still holding on, although well worn, and beat up. Hoping these will hold up similarly. I like the classic, basic style. They look sharp with the red laces. Fit true to size. So far happy with purchase.

Worse hiking boots I’ve ever purchased
15 September 2022

These boots have great support and are water proof. BUT I highly recommend you don’t waste your money on these boots. I purchased these boots to do the Tasmanian overland track, I did 1 hike on Higgs track before doing the overland in Tasmania to brake them in and the soles of the boots are falling apart after 1 3hour hike. For hiking boots that cost $300 these are the worst boots I’ve ever purchased. I’ve purchased cheaper hi-tek boots from anaconda and they were good after 30 hikes. It’s really turned me off buying anything keen in the future

actually spacious

I have struggled to find hiking boots wide enough for my very wide high- volume feet - even men's wide sizes for and brands are tight for me, either across the toe box or the arch. the Pyrénées are the *only* ones that I tried that accommodate the wide! for once I was even concerned that it would be too big for my smaller foot and at the heel, but boots lace really well and fit snug with proper lacing. Takes a little time to break in, the leather is not as soft and pliable as I like but the burlyness is a feature.there IS a seam right to the instep not shown in most photos, it's in good shape but if you (like me, like others) have experienced this busting out it's something to know. Also the Keen style tread is not super sticky, but it's obviously well built in ... MoreI have struggled to find hiking boots wide enough for my very wide high- volume feet - even men's wide sizes for and brands are tight for me, either across the toe box or the arch. the Pyrénées are the *only* ones that I tried that accommodate the wide! for once I was even concerned that it would be too big for my smaller foot and at the heel, but boots lace really well and fit snug with proper lacing.
