Our entire family ONLY wears Keen Hiking Boots. As soon as our son's feet were big enough, we bought him his first pair of Keens. :)I really have nothing but positive things to say about these boots - light, comfortable, excellent traction for rocky/slippery terrain, and they keep our son's feet completely dry.

Durable so far, at least as durable as my five year old allows anything to be. She’s comfortable in them and has done a few mushroom hunts and hikes. She did manage to rip off the grommet for one of the draw cords, but she’s super hard on shoes.

My wife and three children began ‘trail hunting’ every weekend since the pandemic began. Colder weather is approaching and we needed to find some rugged boots for the two boys (age 7 and 4). To be honest, I haven’t heard of KEEN up until now. When we received the boots, the kids loved it. Not too heavy. Very sturdy and robust build. Good ankle support. Elastic pull laces and strap make it easy for the kids to put on and take off. We have yet to encounter any real wet terrain, but we are looking forward to hitting some muddy trails in the weeks to come.

We have owned many pairs of Keen hiking shoes and love this brand, although we’d never purchased this style before. Things we liked: sturdy construction, great tread, elastic laces make it easy for little people to put on their own shoes, and nice looking design. The one thing we didn’t like about this show was that the top strap *never* stayed closed. We tried and tried and I’m not sure if it was too short, or if there was too much pressure because it’s a higher-top shoe, or if the Velcro was poor, but it simply would not stay put! It didn’t seem to bother our daughter much but it lowered our rating of the shoe overall.
Good choice for kid's hiking activity. When buying hiking boots for little kid, there aren't many choices on the market. Keen is a popular brand for that. We had bought one sandle two hiking shoes, they are good as always. Size perfect, contraction no problem, waterproof yes, comfort ok as we don't get enough feedback from the little kid.
I bought these for my 4 year old, they are great for camping and going through puddles. However, they are insanely difficult to put on, it’s impossible for him to do it himself and it’s very difficult for me to put them on for him, seriously I have worked up a sweat getting these on him, it’s very annoying. The ankle straps come undone after the first step he takes and just dangle there no matter how many times he does them back up. He had a similar pair of keens last year that were great. These might be okay for a bigger kid, but wouldn’t recommend for smaller kids who take their shoes on and off constantly, unless you don’t mind the struggle. Once they’re on though they are good shoes.
I bought these for my 5 year old for our summer hiking around the Yukon and they have been so great. The soles have awesome traction on wet and dry ground and they’ve been tested on everything from dirt/gravel trails to scree to moss to mud and more. They have kept his feet very dry and he’s been curious enough to test most puddles :) Since they are waterproof his feet do sweat more so good socks are a must if you’re doing long hikes. These give him the grip he needs to go up and down steep inclines. Now that they’ve been tested in some of the greatest trails in the Yukon I know they can handle the playground this fall when he starts school. I think they will last well into the fall when it gets cool and snow starts falling. I think he will be able to transition ... I originally ordered 2 sizes unsure of how Keen’s fit and he fit the smaller size (true to size for him) and I will be keeping the next size up for when he grows out of these. Super good hikers for kids!
I bought these for my very active 4-year-old daughter, after she grew out of her last pair of Keens. I love this brand. True to Keen's commitment to great quality outdoor shoes, this shoe has excellent tread on the sole, waterproof fabric that helps keep her dry when she can't resist the puddles, and the reinforced toe that stands up to much punishment, including the inevitable toe-dragging when she's riding her run bike (this activity, in particular, usually destroys all other shoes). The fit on these is great, and the height of the ankle is perfect (not too high, but enough to give some extra support and warmth) and the elastic laces/velcro are great for independent dressing. They have initially been a bit tough to get on her foot, but it's getting easier with ... MoreI bought these for my very active 4-year-old daughter, after she grew out of her last pair of Keens. When these arrived they looked huge compared to my son's running shoes in the same size, but they are smaller on the inside. They look nice and well made, but are a bit stiff. I find it a bit hard to get them on and off, but hopefully they will break in with time. My son loves having hikers that match his dad's.
Purchased these for my 5 year old (size 9) and she loves these boots! She wore the size 8 boots last summer and outgrew them, so we purchased this exact brand/style again because she did so well hiking in the first pair. They’re also perfect for camping trips (where kids are constantly running around in dirt & rocks). Plus, she says they’re comfortable. Living in Colorado, you have to invest in a nice pair of hiking boots. It makes all the difference with any outdoor adventure. These boots were reasonably priced and they’re very durable- money well spent. I highly recommend them!
