That said, this keyboard showed me how “not on target” I am as I’ve been fat fingering these keys. With usb or Bluetooth connection, more than one Bluetooth pairing (3 devices), rechargeable battery, rgb backlight controlled simply through the firmware of the keyboard…This thing has been an absolute treat to use.My previous mechanicals have been a Logitech g413 and a daskeyboard x50qNeither was hot swappable so I was stuck with whatever switches came in the unit. The daskeyboard came with software for windows that allowed you a LOT of control over the rgb and had some features I miss and wish the keychron had.The daskeyboard was not Bluetooth and lacked any of these features and was tied to whatever system it was plugged into. So the keychron blows the daskeyboard and the Logitech away with connectivity. The Logitech only has a single color backlight and an app that could do some effects with the lighting, but the keychron has more effects stored in the firmware that what the Logitech could do.In summary, the keychron is really the superior device compared to the Logitech g413 and the daskeyboard x50q.This being a 96% keyboard it sits compact on my desk and still gives me a number pad. The Bluetooth connection keeps the desk clear and the battery lasts quite a while with minimal lighting as it sleeps when not in use for ~10 minutes.Even if you’re not a keyboard nerd this is an amazing keyboard. It’s connectivity and RGB scheming is worth the money. Add on the mechanical switches that can be tuned to order or later tuned to your needs, and you get an all out all star of a keyboard!Just buy one and find out!

Been using K4 for close to a year now, replacing my Logitech G613. After hearing that there's a second version of the keyboard, I decided to get it right away. After using it for close to a week, I'm extremely glad they had the upgrades. The delete button is easier to reach to (though coincidentally, on the K4v1, I remapped the keys to be exactly like how it is on the K4v2 using SharpKeys) so typing on the K4v2 feels right at home.Really loved that incline on the v2 is slightly lower at the front, so it's slightly angled that it actually fits perfectly for me that I don't require to use the legs on the v2. I love my Gateron browns, but I prefer hearing clicks whenever I press enter or backspace (weird, I know) though I prefer the tactile feeling when typing my sentences, thus, making it hot-swappable made it easier to customize some the switches for my backspace and enter keys when previously I had to desolder and resolder the new switches. The Caps and Num lock indicator is a huge boon for me too. While there are many goods, there are certainly a few items that I would love the keyboard to have-A battery indicator. I know press FN+B will show much battery the keyboard still has (green for healthy, red means need charging), I find that I have to keep reaching out for the cable once the keyboard batteries die on me while I'm typing since I don't actively check how much battery my keyboard has. It would be great if there is a visual queue on the keyboard (eg, the light switch is green if full, yellow if 50% and red if 25%) or the entire keyboard turns red when there's 25% battery left to indicate that a charge is needed-Just a secondary thought, but having an additional USB type-A port on the keyboard would be great to plug in my mouse, though it is just a thought. So what happened to my v1? It is now in the office, replacing the cheap HP office keyboard.

I'm very glad I chose the brown ones. They are easy to type on, emit a wonderful mechanical keyboard sound, and are not nearly as clicky as the blue ones I kept stumbling across. I'm very glad this is the first switch I started on. The typing sound has not gotten old, only more enjoyable! The RGB. I'm not sure why some reviews saying that it was simply "alright" or "just okay." This could be due to my limited knowledge on RGB keyboards but I found it to be more than satisfactory. There are a wide variety of color patterns and although you can't customize the EXACT color, it does exactly what it says it does. It probably will only look better should you switch out the keycaps with a color that is more RGB friendly to allow the full colors to really pop.If you're needing a great first Mechanical Keyboard compatible with Mac, I cannot recommend this one enough. I figured I'd want to immediately jump into a hot-swappable keyboard in case I wanted to change the switches but I have a feeling I'll be using this keyboard for a long time before I decide to change it up. The most I'll be doing with this one is getting some fun keycaps but that's about it.I also wanted to give a huge shout out for Keychron having amazing customer service and fantastic tracking. I ordered the keyboard on December 15th, realized I wanted to change the switches to brown. Keychron changed the order before it shipped and managed to get it to me before Christmas! The tracking was phenomenal. I could see every step through DHL.If you're on the fence, just get this keyboard. This has been a great experience for me!

Superior Quality, lovely to use, at half the price of a big-brand worse quality mechanical keyboard. Would have bought the base model were it in stock, but wanted it quickly so had to upgrade to RGB backlit with red hot-swap switches. Arrived in the same week I ordered it.MY goodness this keyboard is fabulous. Quieter than my MX Silent, better switch quality too, and no ridiculous software needed, and a simple key combo to disable the light effects when I'm not entertaining my five year old kid. The inbuilt keypress-triggered animated light effects are bloody marvellous for people who like pretty light shows, and surpass anything I was able to configure through the ghastly Corsair iCue software on my home keyboard.Build quality is great, precision is unexpectedly high, and I'd buy one for home too if I were so set against unnecessary consumption of resources.Every single person at work who's tried out my K4 has repeatedly been seen visiting Keychron's AU website, and I'm glad I got in first because it looks like everybody's considering buying one.Being able to operate with Bluetooth or USB cable is superb, as former RF engineering experience fills me with contempt for unnecessarily wireless peripherals, so when I'm docked (or carrying the correct USB-c cable on the road) I get a magnificent cabled keyboard experience, yet don't need to sacrifice that experience when I'm in a situation that precludes cables. This is a frankly amazing keyboard which is better in every way than the twice-as-expensive mechanical keyboard I use at home. I am seriously looking forward to the giant documenationfest coming up for me a work.

NOT a paid review in any way. I'm a full time student and do writing online for work and some other content creation.I bought the first version of the 10-key K4, aluminum frame with the optical Gateron Browns. I spent ages looking for a keyboard in this layout as I use the num pad on a regular basis but the 100% keyboards take up way too much space and the other 10-key mechanical boards are either wired or require a dongle. I use a laptop primarily with a monitor at home and having a dongle permanently sticking out the side was no go. I only switch it between Mac and Windows mode when I'm going to using the Mac more intensively. The only things, and I do mean ONLY, I didn't like was the position of the Home, End, and Del keys, and not having an indication for Caps Lock ( I suppose num-lock too, but its essentially a non-issue). They fixed the Key config exactly how I would have liked it and added the Caps Lock light. If I remember to turn the keyboard off when I'm not using the computer the battery has lasted around the two week mark without needing a charge, I also had the RGB off as I wanted to see how long it would go. The first version might have a different battery to version 2, but the battery life is awesome regardless. It also seems charges quite quickly. If I don't turn it off and just let it go into sleep mode even with the RGB on I can get around a week out of it. I do a lot of typing and office type work on it with a moderate to light amount of gaming, 80:20 or 90:10.My main keyboard before this was a 100% Das with Cherry Blues. I like the feedback of the Chery Blues and initially liked the noise they made but after a while the noise started to bother me, especially if I was typing during an online meeting. For my taste the Gateron Optical browns are a perfect balance of both tactile and audible feedback. I think I might be able to type slightly faster on the Blues, but I enjoy using the K4 FAR FAR FAR more.If/when I ever need another keyboard, its going to be another one of these. I have yet to find anybody who has tried it and not said it was either their favorite keyboard or very close to it.

Amazing keyboard with mild issues
8 October 2021

I’m really loving my keyboard so far, its easily the best one ive ever had, held back by the smallests of issues that can easily be fixed with the next update.I find it somewhat frustrating that we get no proper and obvious batery status indicator and instead, the keyboard just eventually dies. Only then you notice that the tinies led ever, hidden on the side shines red. Id much preffer a system where some key, lets say the one for lighting, starts blinking orange when the keyboard gets under 20% and red when its under 5. Prefferably make it so that this blinking could be disabled by some key combination.Other than that, i thought that the delay of registering input after the keyboard wakes up from sleep will be less annoying than it actually is. I understand it is there due to the technology used and its probably impossible to cut it down further without using a dedicated dongle like some logitech products use, but id really love to see that aspect be improved, along with being able to set the time limit after which the keyboard goes to sleep. The default one feels too short. If there would be a way to stuff a larger batery inside the keyboard, that would also ne a highly appreciated improvement.Apart from these issues, which are at most mild annoyances, i really love the keyboards layout (eventho i still have to get used to it), the design and finish and its blowing my mind that such a great keyboard which has the potential of being even better thanks to hotswappable switches iw such a bargain.Thank you Keychron, keep doing what youre good at!

Luckily I can swap out for blues if I want to with the “hot swappable” switches! The switches and keycaps provide enough feedback as well as being very neutral to press down on. Don’t matter if you’re hitting the edge, it feels the same as being on the dead center.

Fantastic First Mechanical Keyboard
28 December 2021

After spending a lot of time looking at switches, Mac compatibility, price, and size, I settled on the Keychron K4 V2 with Brown switches and full RGB. I absolutely love this keyboard. It's compact but has a full number pad. I prefer using the number pad and the arrows but I dislike how standard keyboards make them so far away from the right hand. This keyboard allows me to use the number pad and arrows with ease. The brown switches are fantastic. I originally had picked blue, but after listening to numerous videos and doing some more reading, I realized I did not want my keyboard to be as clicky with the blue switches and wanted something a little deeper and less tactile.

V1 was good. V2? Even better
7 February 2021

Having switches hot-swappable is great too. Having switches hot-swappable is great too. It is now in the office, replacing the cheap HP office keyboard.

it's a great layout that takes a little adjustment period
17 July 2023

I'm used to a full size keyboard, so the change has taken a little getting used to. For example, a smaller CTRL key on the right in particular has caused a few typos, along with the placement of arrow keys, and a smaller and centred zero key on the numpad. These are small things which I'm happy to adjust to for having a smaller footprint on my desk. The keyboard is a solid build and is beautifully tactile to type with.I would have liked to have, out of the box, a function key combo for "print screen" considering it's one of the missing keys which I immediately missed having on the board.Sounds like complaints, but I actually really like this keyboard a lot and would recommend it to anyone who is using a full size board that wants something smaller, but still ... MoreI'm used to a full size keyboard, so the change has taken a little getting used to.
