Don't believe the reviews about "toasty warm". They're not. Don't believe the claims about sleeping on top of them (like an electric blanket). The instructions are very clear - you must NOT sleep on them, but can only safely use them on top of all bedding, like a throw rug. They draw a fair bit of current too, so just as well I've now got a Lithium powered additional battery box, because my AGM doesn't have the juice. And on a cold night... they have a safety auto-off after only 45 minutes, so once the heat goes you're waking up cold.Just as well we've got excellent sleeping bags fitted with additional fleece inners!

Purchased x2 of this product. Not as advertised as you can't lay on it like an electric blanket. Hardly warm on high setting. Have purchased a lot of products from Kickass and all have been great. Will be returning both for refund, no instruction booklet, only written on tag that you can't lay on it. One has shorted out and not working. There should be a warning on packaging that you can't lay on it.

I started off with the electric blanket under my sleeping bag, then later inside the bag, placed so it was wrapped around me without any sharp bends or folds. Huge difference, much warmer, def more effective. Shame the timer cuts out after 45mins, a better timer arrangement is needed. Regardless it does the job rather well and i have no complaints that could be considered a deal breaker.

I bought this for my wife to help with camping when it's cooler. Her temperature control seems to be non-existent, and she gets cold almost instantaneously, but cannot warm up without a source of heat. Even then, it takes several hours. So if we can stop her getting cold in the first place, thatxs even better, and thatxs where this blanket comes in. She also has arthritis and other pain due to bad joints that need replacing. So again warmth is soothing. We have only had the chance to do a basic test run with the blanket so far, but it seems like it should fit the bill. I still don't think I will get her out camping in the middle of winter here in Tassie, despite us now having a van rather than a tent. Oh well. Best cold weather purchase. The auto off after 45 minutes is the best feature if you start getting cold you just press the button and your warm again without draining the battery fully. For a single person you can lay it the full length of your bed and wrap it around yourslf, for two people you lay it sideways and it warms the core of your body.
First issue is that the one I bought really doesnxt work. The bigger issue is that I called Kickass about the problem and they said to fill out the online form and log it as faulty. Someone would get back to me in two days ... that was a month ago and still nothing. To ensure I was not being too harsh we took it with us on a trip to the Simpson desert where the overnight temps were close to zero. It barely put out any warmth (certainly not like that described by other reviewers) and drained a 100ah lithium battery overnight (we tried a few 45 min sessions). I presume mine is just faulty but would have expected a better response from Kickass. The hot water system I bought works great although the button on the shower head does keep popping off.
You can call me a wuss if you want; I'm not into freezing my nuts off in some misguided attempt to win Man Points *(patent pending) Not following the Hoff, let alone climbing into ice baths for the sheer relief of climbing out of said ice bath...The KickAss electric blanket warms quickly, packs lightly and is a more reliable source of warmth than a certain Type G Main-Sequence star we happen to be orbiting.Buy one for the kids; otherwise you'll have them in your bed as well.
Just did our first winter trip where we needed these... absolute game changer. Easy operation for time based use, warms the bed nicely, not too hot, just nice. We both loved sleeping with these. We both woke up in the early hours when it was zero or so outside, getting a little cold, turned them on and within minutes we're both back asleep, toastie warm.
A hot water bottle just wasn't enough to get my motorhome bed warm. But the Kickass blanket changed everything. I put it on top of the top sheet, under the doona, and it warms the doona as well as the mattress. It does tend to move around a bit, but easily straightened up when making the bed. If it had ties on it, I'd probably put it straight on the mattress. Usually only use it to warm the bed before getting into it.
As this is a 1 volt blanket, the heat generated is not particularly high - as other have reported. Sometimes it is actually difficult to feel much heat at all when touched.Where the blanket works best is when it is placed under exisiting blankets rather than on top (like a throw rug). This way it takes the chill out of the bed without heat being dissipated into the air. It can also be used this way to help provide additional warmth when sleeping.I use it via a battery box in a caravan and the current draw aligns with its specification. For under blanket/doona use, it's satisfactory and certainly was appreciated during my recent winter trip away.
