Kiehl's - Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque

I got this sample from Nordstrom back in April when I made my Kiehl's with gift purchase (this just happened to be a sample.) I was happy to try this because it's an allure best if beauty win. With Amazonian white clay and aloe, I hoped it would be good for my sensitive, combo skin. I used to use clay masks all the time with oily skin. But my skin is much drier than it used to be and I can only use one on certain parts of my face in the summer. I first used this as directed, putting on my oily patches and another mask on my dry patches for 10 minutes and found it too drying, even with the aloe. This was back in early May so a month later I tried in the shower after my pores had opened, drying my face and putting this on my chin, jaw line and nose. I kept this on about 5 minutes while I shaved my legs and did other things before rinsing. With my skin oilier and using it for less time, it worked much better. This is a white/gray and just smells like clay. I appreciate that it doesn't have added fragrance because one I'm sensitive to fragrance and two fragrance can irritate skin so I never understood why it's put in products meant to calm skin (in this case acne.) I had a small breakout on my chin I had put on and then using this it stayed small and didn't turn red which is great. It didn't really do anything obvious to my blackheads and while my pores looked nicer right after it didn't last. I did get some tiny breakouts on my chin the next day, probably from the mask pulling stuff out, but since that's the point that doesn't bother me. This is a really nice clay mask, but at $38 for 4.2oz I don't think it works better than a less expensive clay mask. If you're comfortable with the price however, it's a good mask.

There is a scent but it’s so light it’s barely noticeable. I love how gentle this mask is and yet it’s effective. It doesn’t make my skin feel tight or dry while using and after rinsing. My skin feels incredibly clean after rinsing and skin feels soft and smooth. It worked wonders on clog pores on my nose with continuous use, twice a week, and minimizes my pores. I would recommend using twice week for those with oily, acne prone, combination skin. This is my absolute FAVORITE mask i’ve used so far, i’ve purchased several jars of it over the course of several years. Since it is clay based it really draws a lot of oil, debris and toxins out of your skin. you can definitely see a difference after a single use, but when using it over time, it helps minimize pore size and reduce oil it helps stop and prevent the development of blackheads, whiteheads, cysts, etc. but it’s the best at getting rid of blackheads because it works to pull out oil that’s deep down in the pores. The aloe in this product will also help facilitate healing of your skin. I always have on hand in my skincare arsenal. Depending on my skin situation i’ll go up to two weeks without using it or i’ll use it up to 2-3x a week. It’s consistency is thick and heavy but it is easy to spread. I would not recommend this product (or any clay mask) for people who have dry skin as this will really make it drier. i would definitely recommend this product for people with literally any other type of skin.

If the information on the bottle is to be believed the clay in the mask has been sourced from a very nutrient rich area of the globe, which is pretty cool! This mask doesn’t dry in a way that you can peel off, you have to wash it off gently with a wash cloth or with your hands. You can definitely feel it working, as it dries you can feel the clay pulling on your skin (it almost feels as if it is tightening my pores). I’m not sure if it IS tightening my pores but it certainly gives the sensation that it is. I have combination skin that is quite sensitive and I haven’t had any issues using this mask. Beautifully velvet soft

I bought this after sorting the masks on Mecca in order of top rated, I was lost with so many on offer and just added to cart. Let me tell you - I. LOOOOOOVE. THIS. MASK. Words like mud and clay and purifying always scare me a little bit but this is the most gorgeous soft gentle mask that makes a HUGE difference. It doesn’t crack and flake all over your clothes and couch while it’s drying either - which I also love!!!! I don’t normally write reviews but wow I really love this mask, my skin looks and feeeeels so nice. Not tight for dry just…good. Clear and soft, hydrated but detoxified? Love it.

Does a great job reducing pore size!

I've been a long time user if CeraVe and Cetaphil. Recently I tried the Ultra Facial Cream since it contained squalene, which I love. Let me tell you, I was shocked at how well it moisturized my face without leaving it greasy. I then tried a sample of the ultra repair cleanser, LOVED IT, and the Clay mask...LOVED IT TOO! The mask removed 50%of blackheads on the side of my nostrils and the pores on my cheeks are less visible. I'm hooked on Kiehl's. I have since ordered 3 products. These are prefect for people like me who have very sensitive skin and cannot use fragrance filled products.

Theyve outlasted two rounds of accutane, years of spironolactone, countless different blackhead treating products, and nose strip after nose strip. But after establishing a routine with this mask, I finally feel like the pesky, persistent blackheads are becoming a thing of the past. Seriously. I use this mask on my nose only a few times a week after thoroughly washing my face. After a few uses, the blackheads began pushing themselves out like you would see with accutane. But sticking with it, the pores eventually cleared themselves and are looking better than they have in so, so long. I decided to try this face mask which was the same size as the one I was using before, similar ingredients, but the Kiehl’s one is twice the price. I was definitely not feeling fantastic about the purchase initially but I liked the loyalty program so I figured it was worth the try. Holy crap. First of all, it’s lasting far longer than the one that was half the price so in the long run, the Kiehl’s is actually a better bang for my buck. And more importantly, it works!
