Reasonably thick so it doesnt shatter or break easily although dont try dropping it the glass is durable and will last or years. This family jar has been in my family since my great great grandfather started the company in Yorkshire England. He invented the clip on the jar. The jars we purchased has my name on it (Kilner). We will be using the jars as Christmas gifts. Thank you for generation of use.

Kilner jars are the most popular for a reason the glass feels sturdier, the seals more durable and the fastenings more robust than others on the market. The fact that replacement parts would also be available if ever needed is a bonus too.These 0.35 litre jars are a really practical size especially for those items that you use small amounts of reasonably regularly. Mine are filled with seeds and other toppings. Theyll also be great for storing homemade preserves etc and ive no doubt that theyll stand up well to dishwasher cleaning as well as sanitsing in the oven if needed.Brought four and all came in perfect condition well bubble wrapped for protection.

Poor quality control problems ?

In the end I purchased a total of 24 half litre clip over preserving jars to hot water bath seal sweet pickled cucumbers , chutney and pressure bottled preserved tomatoes from Wilco ,some online and some out of store.14 jars failed to seal at the first attempt, five sealed at the next three or four attempts .Nine jars would not seal under any circumstances. I've ever had faulty Kilner jarsThanks for the replacement jars Kilner .. though after 14 days I'm still waiting for the jars to arrive. Your customer service say they are waiting for a batch to come into the warehouseSeveral of my friends also have had problems with kilner jars not sealing correctly .I think I'll be using Weck jars in future even though they are almost double the price of Kilner ones ...at least they work first time round because of the attention to quality control.Wilko will you please start stocking Weck preserving jars lids and seals as you seem to have a ready market for them ?
