Honestly just get a bag of kinetic sand a big bin with a lid to contain and some toy trucks. This thing broke down within minutes. The latches came off. The crane and other items are so flimsy they would fall apart and I would have an upset toddler whom was so suppose to have fun. I put sand in a bin and threw out everything else. It's so much easier and better and my son has more fun this way. I really wanted to like this I really did but after giving it so many tries and the frustration was always there I decided to just toss it. Huge waste of my time and money. Don't recommend. Don't get it. Even scoops and measuring cups along with a bin and kinetic sand is so much better than this thing. Don't purchase

I Bought This For My Nephew When He Comes To My House. He Enjoyed Playing With My Daughters Sand But He LOVES EQUIPMENT and sand. He's A BUSY boy But We Played For 45 Mins Straight!!!! Moved Our Location And Continued Playing For Another 45 Mins. I Bought Another Bag Of Sand (Beach Sand Which Is NOT The Same) And I Still This Box Needs Another Bag. This Worked Though. I Also Bought The Tonka Trucks To Add In To Play With. The Little Dump Truck It Comes With Is Fun Because You Put The Sand In And Make Blocks To Wreck With Wrecking Ball. He Loved The Crane. I Would Buy This Again For Sure! Just Wish For The Price It Came With More Sand Because They Don't Sell This Same Colored Sand. The "BEACH" Sand Is A bigger Grit. My 3 year old received this for his birthday and absolutely loved it! The sand is great because it doesn’t stick to your hands. The toys that come with it inspire creativity with building “construction sites”. My son loves using his monster trucks and other smaller construction vehicles to play with this literally for hours at a time. It does get messy if you have a kid who throws it and plays hard with it but the sand is easy to clean up even in carpets because it sticks to itself. Just don’t get it wet because a little bit of water will ruin the entire batch of sand. We ended up getting pink sand as a replacement for the brown sand after it got ruined with water and it was like a brand new toy again after that. Love the case it comes with because it gives you a ... MoreMy 3 year old received this for his birthday and absolutely loved it! The sand is great because it doesn’t stick to your hands. Bought for Crimbo for the grandson, opened it today. We were so excited, it didn't last long. Very small amount of sand considering one of the promo pics shows the open box fairly well covered in sand. We had to add sand from another play box. Only one lorry, the one that has the brick mould on it. The tipper part doesn't lift high enough to drop the made bricks out, we had to turn the truck completely upside down to drop bricks out of the mould. No big deal, but a far shout from what happens on a construction site. A few other little niggles, but nothing too bad. The boy enjoyed it and we just added more construction vehicles to his play time. All in all, a nice toy/game/gift, but not quite worth the 30 pounds price tag. Probs more worth lower to mid 20's at most.
My son absolutely loves this toy that he recieved for Christmas. It helps to encourage his imagination and keeps bim entertained for long period's. The only negative point id say, and why it hasnt got 5 stars, is that where the crane arraches to the base it is quite loose and sometimes comes off when hes playing with it. All in all though, its a great toy. Its also good value for money.
Such a great piece of kit and this Kinetic Sand is a great innovation, all the fun of real sand with almost zero mess! Safe for indoors and out. My 3yr old is always asking to play with it and will sit there for hours just playing away. Can't get enough of it. My only gripe with it is the container itself, it doesn't have a handle to easily carry it, the locks aren't secure enough (they easily pop open), I wouldn't feel comfortable holding it like a briefcase without worrying it'll pop open, and it's not very tightly sealed, so there is potential for sand to leak out. Just have to be careful when closing it up and try to keep the it flat. I would knock off half a star for the awkwardness of the container. Otherwise it's fantastic, lots of fun and hours of play for ... MoreSuch a great piece of kit and this Kinetic Sand is a great innovation, all the fun of real sand with almost zero mess! Absolutely awful design. As many reviews have stated the crane will not stay together and is top heavy to boot so will easily fall over on its own. The dump truck is barely better crafted. More time spent with my son frustrated that the pieces won't stay together than actually playing with the toy. If you like kinetic sand just buy the sand by itself and use other more functional toys to play with instead.
We got one that snuck past quality control. The knob does not actually make the crane lift up and down and the crane itself is too heavy to stay on the loose peg that it attaches to rendering the entire device useless. The amount of the actual kinetic sand isn’t huge either. The truck with the brick mold is the only cool part. In retrospect I should have got a large amount of kinetic sand and some cheap construction toys and created a construction site myself.
My son was so excited! He loves Kinetic Sand and construction toys! 1. There is no handle for the box, they give you the cardboard one but you have to rip it off in order to get inside the box. 2. The crane is so useless! It falls off every single time my son uses it! Why can't you make it lock into place so it stays there when they're playing with it, and unlock it to put away? 3. The tiny dump truck that makes the bricks is so flimsy and falls over because of the weight of the sand. The only sturdy thing in the entire box is the black placer you put between the two sides so you can stack your made bricks!!! Are you sure there's actually 2 lbs. of sand included? I had an extra 3 lb. bag from previous use and it looked a lot bigger than what was provided. I had to ... MoreMy son was so excited! He loves Kinetic Sand and construction toys! 1. Your engineers really should pull this off the market and redo everything before selling it again, because it's just useless.
All in all we love this toy. I gave it a low star bc of the malfunctions that occur if you don’t purchase additional sand to keep your little one happy. I don’t write negative reviews often, but for the price point vs quality of the product I wanted to point out that the crane falls over with both the wrecking ball and the grab bucket. Which was corrected with an additional bag of kinetic sand to weigh it down (we purchased extra just in case). And the case is made to stay flat, if you stand it on its side, the sand leaks out of the cracks & hinges.
