A little heat along with wonderful flavor!

For whatever reason I am on a sardine kick and purchased at least 10 brands and spicing flavors of sardines to test. Almost all were fairly good, but this Jalapeno Flavor in EVOO was amazing!!! And I typically will not even try any food with jalapenos. Sure it has some moderate heat, but it is heat bursting with delicious flavor . . . at least to my palate. And this appears to be the fastest seller of the King Oscar varieties at Walmart! No surprise here. I buy 12 cans at a time! Love them.

Better than other brands

I?m writing this review after receiving a free sample from Ocado. The fish are small and have a very delicate taste with fewer bones, They have a clean, fresh, meaty taste in the spring water and don?t smell too fishy. I?m not the biggest fan of the taste of sardines and eat them because of their nutritional profile. I find this brand much more pleasant to eat than others.

Changed my impression of sardines!

I am reviewing these after receiving a free sample from Ocado. I haven?t purchased tinned sardines for ages having been put off by a different supermarket?s own brand. These are very different and make for very pleasant eating! They are less boney being smaller fish and the infusion of Mediterranean flavours gives them a delicate, sophisticated flavour. These have changed my thoughts about tinned sardines!

Excellent!

Great flavor. Great for keto. Great for fat salads. It’s great to make vegan salad dressing. Lemon, nutritional yeast and tahini.Such a keto salad topper. Living in Japan I miss green flavors and these are so good. I make “fat salads” with healthy fats like olives and avocado, pumpkin seeds and organic olive oil. Sometimes sardines but I got kind of sick of them haha.

Meaty little fishes..
14 January 2023

We started eating things with more Omega-3, the good oils, and my husband thought of sardines. We tried several brands, including this one, and he really likes the meaty chunks of fish of this brand. There is a good flavor, texture to the little fishes. He likes them for a weekend lunch with crackers, thin slice of onion, bit of mustard, tasty little fishes!!

Not smelly

Im reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado, and in the interest of honesty, I bought it for my cat. He didnt eat it, which doesnt really say anything about the product as cats are notoriously fussy. As a plant-based household, we didnt try the sardines ourselves, but I was very pleasantly surprised that they didnt stink of fish. Even after being left out in the heat for an hour the smell was very mild. They also looked like theyre good quality, with a bit of tail left on if you like that sort of thing (no heads on any of them). Flaked apart beautifully, so I can only assume they were perfectly cooked. I liked that they came in spring water too, so theres no added salt or oil like a lot of other tinned fish products and you can season to your ... MoreIm reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado, and in the interest of honesty, I bought it for my cat. Perfect health choice
20 January 2022

I was really surprised to read negative reviews for this product. I've just eaten this for the first time and loved it, it is perfect. Reasons: 1) in olive oil, typically other similar products are in inflammatory and inferior veg oils - this is the healthy choice. 2) A lot of similar sardine offerings smell terrible (at least to me), off putting. These smell fine. 3) Other products tend to be mooshy, more like cat food; these are whole fish that retain their natural shape and texture. 4) These are not bits of fish, they are whole small fish, similar look to whitebait found in good restaurants. 5) These feature tails, bones, skin - entirely edible, entirely healthy - it's really hard to find dietary items that offer good calcium source, "nose to tail" (almost) ... MoreI was really surprised to read negative reviews for this product. Finally, sardines I can eat without a peg on my nose and tastebuds. Maybe not for everyone, but a good choice for the health conscious.

The best tinned sardines

They are small fish with much less bone, and are very delicate tasting in olive oil which I really like and enjoyed. I would happily eat these again and am glad sardines can be this good!

low in salt, good quality
12 February 2023

Impressed, mild flavor, no overpowering fishy smell, low in sodium.. I think these are a good buy.Definitely worth picking up when on offer, a little bit skeptical of ÂŁ2.30 price though.Lot of people mention that they prefer sardines in oil, In my opinion that's no reason to give these a low rating. Also with knowing that most people are probably used to salted sardines, or just high sodium intake in general. The mild more natural flavor this brand offers may appear lacking but I can assure it's appropriate, and untainted by the light smoking process.
