Disclaimer: I've been using this grinder for less than a week, with three types of medium roast beans, so the burrs may not have reached optimal consistency yet.I have an 1Zpresso JX-PRO for both espresso and pour over. Although I'm very happy with the JX-PRO, I always felt like it produces too much fines for pour over. I tend to grind on the finer side, for example, 2.3.0 (calibrated) for 1 cup pour over with total drawdown under 2:30. It's been serving me very well but I really wanted something that will produce less fines, after all JX-PRO is designed for espresso. 1Zpresso K series is so expensive I just can't pull the trigger. Then I found the KINGrinder K6, which has similar burr design as the C40 and 1Zpresso K series, and is supposed to produce less fines ... I did the math conversion, JX-PRO 2.3.0 is roughly 72 clicks for the K6. I played around with +/- 1~2 clicks in that range. Surprisingly, I found that K6 seems to produce even more fines than my JX-PRO around in that range, and yet, very strangely, K6 produces less body and a brighter taste.... I really don't know why....I decided to keep the grinder even though it doesn't give me what I was looking for (less fines), but it gives me a different taste profile.

The KinGrinder K4 accompanies my Cafelat Robot manual espresso lever. For fresh medium-light (somewhat hard) and medium-dark roast beans, I find 63 clicks gives me a consistently good pull with a 13g dose. (The number of clicks is proportional to grind coarseness.) I comfortably (at an even speed) grind that dose in 50-60 seconds. For other doses, I have tried between 50 to 70 clicks. The K4 output is clearly more than fine enough for excellent extraction, and the high number of clicks allows precise dial-in between sour and bitter. The numbered markings on the outside make verifying or changing the grind convenient. The magnetized handle goes on and off easily and has not come off while grinding.

What could have been a perfect grinder, great burrs, efficient to grind, and even grind, it came up short because it is a pain in the derriere to disassemble for cleaning. The little retainer ring on the top of the upper bearing is impossible to remove as it is so tightly jammed in. When I am grinding a $400 a pound Gesha, I want to take the unit apart and clean the burrs so no oil residues nor grinds from coffee that came before are present. Not recommended if you are using limited selection coffee beans. I also have the K2, which functions perfectly and is super easy to disassemble for a thorough cleaning. The K2 produces far less fines when set at a coarse grind. Save $70.00 and purchase the K2. It is a fabulous grinder with super easy maintenance and produces ... I bought this to go along with Breville Bambino Plus. K4 has been really good in grinding my medium and dark roasts. I use it with 58-62 range, takes around 30-45 sec to grind 18grams of coffee beans. There are few issues that I feel for a relatively expensive gear @ $180 should have taken care..1. The wooden handle is not sealed.. It rotates freely, looks good. But since its not sealed, it can take on oils, dirt, and moisture. A 2c worth of sealant would have made this more user friendly.2. The lid looks and feels flimsy.. specially with two gaskets that you need to take care of. I would have preferred a machined metal lid. You are filling the beans every day, you don't need a transparent window to check on them,The magnet holding the handle is not strong ... MoreI bought this to go along with Breville Bambino Plus. Recently tried a friends High end grinder and quickly realized that I needed an upgrade. My previous Hario slim-pro was doing the job but was nowhere near as pleasant experience to use and took much longer than needed. After much research I landed on this model with it's similar comparisons to the JX line from 1xpresso.Build quality is superb! It feels really high quality in hand and the adjustment clicks are pronounced and firm.Ease of use is great where it takes about half the effort of the Hario I had, and the time to grind is easily reduced to at least half as well. The quality of the grind and consistency is much better than my old model. Not sure about the reliability of the product but with a solid aluminum design I expect it outlast most of my other coffee ... A considerable upgrade from the sub $100 models. Looking forward to a side by side comparison to my friends grinder!
I preface the review by saying that this is not my first manual grinder - I had a Timemore C2 and a 1Zpresso Jx-Pro. I'll say that the Kingrinder K6 is similar in many way to the Jx-pro. Same force needed to grind. Performance and speed is really good (Not super long for Espresso and V60) I like the outside ajustement better then the Jx-pro.I can't find any complaint for the grinder. it's even cheaper then the Jx-pro so give it a shot !
Got this for not only my espresso machine but for pour over and French Press. I am very pleased with the results. The fine grind settings of 16micron stepped adjustments lets me dial in my espresso to my satisfaction. The adjustments for my pour over and French Press are equally as good (for me at least). It definitely takes more effort than an electric grinder but that is part of the charm of making coffee in my opinion.
Almost entirely aluminum construction, reasonably sized, and feels solid in hand.I grind medium-fine for Aeropress and it doesn't take much effort to grind through about 20g of light roast beans. I weigh and grind after I start my kettle and I finish grinding before the water is boiling.Upgrading from a Baratza Encore and the K6 (visually) has much better grind consistency. At the same MSRP, spend your money on the K6 if you're okay with a manual grinder. As far as I can tell, the K6 has the same burr as the 1zpresso K-Max so at the price the K6 is selling at, it's an amazing value on top of the excellent grind quality.
I am so impressed by this grinder. I use it for my Flair Espresso, V60 and Aeropress. It’s perfect for all of them.Grinding is easy and consistent. No sticking or clogging up. I’ve tried it attached to an electric screwdriver. It works but honestly the grind is so easy it’s not really worth it.If you’re looking for a grinder to meet your daily coffee needs, this might be it.
This grinder is fantastic. I use it primarily for drip coffee like v60, the wave, and so on. But it has a great range for its grind profile. It is easy to clean, and quite user friendly. The construction is very quality and it has a nice feel in the hand. I use it as my daily grinder. It replaced my knock airgrind which is now just a travel grinder.
