Most of us have seen these mixers everywhere for what seems to be decades, but it was probably just me that didn't realize all kitchenmaid stand mixers aren't created equal. While they may look alike, different models have different capacities, speeds and effectiveness in various applications. Most of us have seen these mixers everywhere for what seems to be decades, but it was probably just me that didn't realize all kitchenmaid stand mixers aren't created equal. While they may look alike, different models have different capacities, speeds and effectiveness in various applications. I really wanted to wait to write this review until I had really explored this machine because it's such a big investment (in my opinion at least!). Now that I have, the sturdiness of this product has definitely proven to be true. We have a rather small kitchen and so it gets moved around quite a bit, this hasn't resulted in any sort of loosening or wiggling which is important when you have that dough hook running at top speed (some of the cheaper mixers act like poorly balanced washing machines). The sturdiness, however, can be a double edged sword due to the heft. If you have trouble lifting things or perhaps a bit of arthritis be sure to store this on a mobile kitchen cart or simply give it a permanent countertop space to avoid having to lift it from a bottom (or worse-top) cabinet which can be a task. Next is function, I cannot tell you how nice it is to be able to toss something into this mixer and walk away to get the other ingredients without having to babysit a bowl! Especially when I'm working with something dense like honey or doughs. The attachments have all been easy to put on/take off and are sized well enough to store away easily. There is room for improvement though, the rubber spatula sided mixer attachment is sold separately which is what can scrape down the sides of your bowl without you having to angle a separate spatula into the mixer, I would have been open to forgoing some of the other attachments in order to have this one right off the bat, but they are cheaper and easy to find at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc.. Also, the swing back mechanism for the top of the mixer via the hinge at the neck has no protection against it flipping up and down hard. Think about the drawer add-ons you can install so they don't slam, that would be great for the head of this mixer, just to protect the hinge. Color-wise, the blue color of this mixer is absolutely dreamy! It's beautiful and a bit novel without being overly kitschy and is still easy to match to other kitchen products out there. Overall, I really do love this piece of equipment and think it is a great investment for anyone who likes to cook or bake. This model and size is great for families and even sturdy enough to teach the little ones on. Half star loss for the lack of slow-down mechanism for the head and the lack of spatula on the mixer attachment leaving you to clean up the walls of the bowl pretty frequently, but apart from that this machine is fantastic.PROS: Built To Last, BEAUTIFUL color, Easy On/Off Attachments, Does Not Slow Down When Dealing With Thick/Difficult Foods (i.e. Honey, Doughs, etc.), Great Size, Good Investment Piece (I bought this two years ago and the price hasn't fallen).CONS: No Cushion For Mixer Head When Lifting up/Down To Prevent Hard Slam, Spatula Mixer Attachment Not Included Requiring You to Scrape Down The Bowl Pretty Often, Expensive (but again, it's not bad for an investment piece-I can't see this thing breaking any time soon or ever maybe)TIPS: TJ Maxx and Marshalls have attachment for these mixers on sale regularly for 60% off the selling price so if you have one nearby go and check for that spatula attachment or even a pasta maker or meat grinder I've seen them all there!, If you are working with dough (or especially if a young one is learning) watch out for it coiling up your dough hook and into the gears-it can happen quickly if you're not careful. Last, I've found that a metal blemish extractor (bought and dedicated for mixer cleaning) is the best tool to get into the attachment holder and metal pieces in the head of the mixer in case they get dirty (or gunked up with aforementioned dough... ). It is sturdier than a toothpick which runs the risk of breaking and getting caught in the gears.

It’s a must appliance for an household who love to make stuff from dough/batters. I have been using it for the last 5 years. I make fresh wheat flour rotis/flat tortillas everyday for which I kneed a fresh batch of dough. With the Kitchen Aid it takes 3-4 mins to kneed 2-3 cups of flour. Otherwise it used to take 15 mins to kneed the flour by hand. It has 10 speed settings that I slowly increase as I start to add the water to flour. Once the water binds with flour then increase the spread to 6 or more to get adequate consistency. The only notch against the process would be the careful addition of water, a slight miscalculation would lead to a sticky dough that would need some fixing using more dough. The whisking attachment works well and helps create batters ... MoreIt’s a must appliance for an household who love to make stuff from dough/batters. I have been using it for the last 5 years. I bought this product a month ago. It works okay. But the specifications that made me chose it were deceptive. First does not say the 10 attachments don’t come with it but they make you believe they do. Second. The specifications say it will make up to 8 dz cookies. Which in fact it says that it only makes 6.5. Saying that my opinion on Kitchen Aid has soured and I will in the future seek other brands that are more honest about their products.

(Rewarded Review) Perfect upgrade from a hand mixer!
24 January 2024

I was given this for Christmas last month and honestly can't imagine my life without it. For as long as I've been cooking and baking, I have always used a whisk or hand mixer. But now this stand mixer has made life that much easier! I am able to multitask better in the kitchen, and I am willing to try recipes that I haven't before. I am very excited to save up and purchase the pasta making attachments to attempt to make my own pasta! Highly recommend this mixer!

To make light of the situation, I posted to Facebook about how someone at Kitchenaid must have it our for me specifically. When a friend reached out and said that he had a connection at the company, I got excited (but also nervous because it's similar to being told on). A few emails with Stephanie at the company and I was put into contact with Daniel. It felt wonderful to talk to an engineer at the company to understand the design choices and talk about solutions to my dilemma. Daniel PULLED THE FUDGE THROUGH! Not only did he send me the new screws and tools I would need to do maintenance/fix my machine, but he hooked a girl up with some nice things like an apron, face masks, a recipe book. But he also got me a food grinder kit! Completely baffled and I definitely said words my mother would be ashamed of. I'm so excited about the goodies but I know that my date this weekend is my mixer and some serious maintenance. Thank you Kitchenaid for helping me out and helping me understand the design choices. I love my mixer so much and am even more appreciative now! Major shout-outs to Stephanie and Daniel for taking the time to talk with me.

First one ever bought, resultng in mixed feelings

The machine works very well. Unfortunately, the disappointments are that the coated mixer attachment started chipping paint off it after only very few uses. I have used it only seldom over the past three years, to make about four batches of cookies at the Christmas holidays. That's all. I do not have a dishwasher, so the pieces are all hand washed. And, upon first opening, I did not expect to have to clean the mixing bowl of layers of metal dust from the processing of the stainless steel. I had washed it, but the dust came off in a batch of cookies I was making. My son searched online for a solution, and he helped me to rub it with butter, and with various oils, using paper towels, repeatedly, in order to rid the bowl of this manufacturing dust. I have just come to this website, looking to see how I can contact the company to get replacement parts. I see now that the three-piece stainless steel mixing set is for sale, at a price I would rather not afford right now. I used the wire whisk attachment these past Christmas holidays, but it does not work the same. And the bowl is a challenge to get locked into place, but ultimately fits in.

Impressed with my first recipe with new KitchenAid
9 January 2024

I got my new KitchenAid as a Christmas gift and just unboxed it on January 5th 2024 because after spending the month of December chowing down Christmas bake foods like cookies I was at a loss of what I could use the mixer for. A friend and me were reminiscing about this bakery at the local mall where we grew up that made these out of the world yummy Chelsea Buns that would permeate the air with cinnamon and make your stomach churn with hunger. So that is what I made with the new KitchenAid after finding a recipe that matched our memories of those 2-die-4 Chelsea Buns. The hook attachment made me a great dough and I followed the recipe turning out buns that far exceeded any Chelsea Buns I have ever eaten. Definitely I will be making them more than once. Indescribably delicious. Point is that there's no way I would have wanted to even try making them without the muscle strength of my "Ultra" KitchenAid doing the arm ache job for me. I'm excited about making all kinds of stuff with this and it is really a beautiful looking shiny empire red apparatus sitting on my counter. I recommend anyone who has that creative urge to get one and be rewarded with the delicious things to indulge in and the sense of freedom and uplift doing it homemade yourself instead of resorting to mass produced mystery ingredients. 5 thumbs up from me!

Very Poor Customer Service

Several years ago i bought a KitchenAid stand mixer with white coated paddle and dough-hook. Recently I discovered there was paint chipping off the dough-hook. We had heard that there may be a danger of lead in the paint. (see picture)I reached out to customer service and was basically told that there was NO HEALTH RISK to this, and I could buy another one if I wanted to. Even if there's not lead in the paint, sharp shards of paint in my food is definitely not healthy. After spending so much on what I thought was a good brand-name, I'm very disappointed by this response. Seems KitchenAid couldn't care less about their customers. I'll be avoiding buying KitchenAid again, though I might have to for the dough hook. peperoni rlls i make I purchased this Kitchen Aid Mixer because I have always wanted one. My hand mixer broke.I used it to make 15 different Christmas cookies, and it was wonderful to use. The batter was smother and easier to use. The dough hook helped with making pepperoni rolls. The bread dough was elastic and smoothe. I only wish I had not waited for so long to get this fabulous machine.
