It also has extras which are a bonus. The main thing, after 4 weeks use is that the toast is still the same both sides. I never thought it could be so hard to find a toaster that toasts !

Kitchenaid products are expensive but a new kitchen dictated having matching appliances. This was the last item I ordered as I did feel it was pricey. However, it is easy to use, makes delicious toast and looks lovely. It even has a special bagel programme and that is excellent.

Couldnt fault harts of stur. Smooth transaction, quick delivery, well packaged. Toaster not great. Doesnt toast evenly on both sides. Thought by treating myself to an expensive toaster (even on price drop) i would, at last, not have to turn bread but not to be!! two minutes does one side well but not the other side, have to turn bread put back in and watch it, therefore, outdoing benefit of the ready alarm. If set timer at 3 minutes it burns! Should have stuck to the 20 quid toaster i had!!

This toaster fails at the most basic function of a toaster - toasting both sides of a piece of bread evenly. The toaster will toast the inner side of bread fine, but the outer side is not toasted at all, or not toasted nearly as much. It is like it is stuck on bagel model. I have seen reviews going back to 2015 noting the same problem. Have received two replacement toasters. Both of these have exhibited the same behaviour. KitchenAid has promised to send an upgraded toaster, but actually trying to get that sent out has been a nightmare - I think they need to do some major retraining of their customer service staff. Will see what the new toaster is like if I eventually receive it, but I think I will be looking at other brands from now on.
Lovely addition to my kitchen. Toasts the bread perfectly and quickly. Perfectly brown on the outside but bread still fluffy on the inside. Several functions which are all useful. I have tried bread rolls and they were toasted in the middle and lovely and warm on the outer. Frozen bread does great to. I found number 4 toasts at a good level. Lovely and smooth and quiet functions. Overall a fantastic toaster. Worth the high cost. Wish I had bought it sooner.
Love this toaster - such good build quality like all Kitchen Aid items. I would have given it 5 stars if it had lasted longer. It just decided not to work one morning after 4 and a half years loyal daily service! It was a shame to see it go as it still looked like new!
Very happy with our toaster purchase - it's pricey, however it does make fabulous toast, crisp and evenly cooked on the outside, soft on the inside.The motor driven mechanism is great, especially for anyone with mobility issues, and it looks great in stainless steel, with a nice range of options (not yet used) and wide slots, a downside would be its missing some form of progress indication.Harts of Stur were the most competitive price, and quickly processed and dispatched our order, - valued if you are without a working toaster.Would recommend.
We'd been putting up with an ancient Dualit for a long time, despite its rather idiosyncratic approach to toasting bread (only bread...you couldn't fit a bagel or crumpet in there without crushing it first). When the timer went we decided to treat ourselves to a new toaster for the first time in more than two decades. And what a treat the KitchenAid is! The extra-wide slots mean there's no more crushing required and the numerous settings for bagels, defrosting etc are such a luxury. The toasting isn't quite as uniform as I'd hoped, hence the dropping of one star, but overall we're really happy with it. I very much doubt it'll last as long as the Dualit but that's to be expected I guess.
Really disappointed with this product. We have had two, both with the same fault requiring sending back to Kitchen Aid. The toaster does not toast on both sides of the bread, only the inside face, as in the 'bagel function' even when that is not selected. We are now awaiting what we hope will be the third toaster - hopefully working properly.All our other Kitchen Aid products have been absolutely fine, so this experience is a real disappointment - and a load of hassle.
Good Points: Toast comes out to the chosen browning we like. Using bagel setting, we can toast hot cross buns and loaf crusts to an excellent depth of colour, one side only. Great bit of kitchen kit, simple to use. Only hope it has a long life, otherwise so far so good.Improvement Points: Needs an extra lift on the toasting motorised rack ejector, to get out the smaller pieces of finished buns and toast, without burning your fingers or by using a metal fork!! to pull the pieces out. Could cause a short circuit between the element and casing. So make sure you unplug before doing that, as you will triger the mains power to cut off the house power supply, of an RCCD.So needs an extended lift for the motorised toast retractor and lifter ejector.
