Whips eggs and cream perfectly. Given whisks are tough to clean, and given eggs are notorious for carrying bugs (bacteria) that aren't great for humans raw, how would one clean it to be safe and effective?--yes, in dishwasher. Which then ruins the coating on the base, leaving black marks on hands, fingers, machine and --ewww--food. What the hey, KitchenAid? This isn't a paddle or easy-to-clean attachment, and the dishwasher ruins it? Unacceptable, and making me rethink buying more attachments for my mixer. Maybe other brands don't have same issue?

I ordered the Whisk Attachment that fit my 3.5 Mini Stand Mixer. The Ad says: STAINLESS. The wires are but the Part that attaches into to mixer is most definitely NOT. Shame on Kitchen-Aid. i expect better from you. And you’ve had this problem for years and still have not corrected it even though you’ve had complaints upon complaints about this issue. The BLACK gets on your hands, your clothes and into your mixture. Very Disappointed!!

Horrible black residue all over the wire whisk. It came that way in the box. I have tried everything to remove it and it never ever goes away. It’s impossible to touch without your hands turning black and Dawn soap doesn’t even barely remove the black substance from your hands. Setting the whisk down in my porcelain sink left black marks that were also difficult to remove. What is this stuff and why is it on a quality brand like kitchen aid ? This is not a car part! This is a food mixer! There’s no way I would ever use it to beat my whipping cream etc.! I’ve been reading in the reviews and have discovered this is not just a fluke!! You are actually selling them this way!

If this product is really stainless steel, it should be dishwasher safe. I noticed the discoloration after making whipped cream and cook see it in the cream, which definitely tasted off and then noticed the black marks all over my hand. The purpose of owning this mixer is to make life easier. To previous reviewer…. Imagine that. Expecting to be able to wash something in the dishwasher to make life easier. This is also the original whisk that came with my mixer and it doesn’t get everything on the bottom. I have to continuously stop the mixer to scrape the bottom. Very disappointed and looking for a knock off brand that can be washed in the dishwasher.
I have used Kitchen Aid products for 35 years and I'm extremely disappointed in the wire whisk for use with the stand mixer. For a product that is supposed to be top shelf quality it is unacceptable that the whisk can't be washed in the dishwasher and can't be used on hot foods without losing its coating - and it leaves difficult to wash out black marks all over tea-towels. Kitchen Aid has recently brought out a true stainless steel whisk and other attachments, which demonstrates a response to complaints regarding the previous whisk. It would seem reasonable that the old whisks should be simply replaced at no cost by Kitchen Aid. The whisk doesn't reach the bottom of the bowl so there is a constant need to stop and mix the bottom in and remix. Again, not acceptable ... MoreI have used Kitchen Aid products for 35 years and I'm extremely disappointed in the wire whisk for use with the stand mixer. Also, when the arm is up, the on switch should be locked because it is easy to knock it by mistake and the beater starts rotating at face level.
I have the classic stand mixer and love it! For the past two years, I bake 200+ cookies every Saturday and never have had any problems. I am replacing my wire whip attachment because one of the wires has become unattached. Most likely to my using it to mix things that perhaps the paddle is more appropriate. For all of you complaining about oxidation on the whip attachment. How about actually washing it BY HAND. I have never put my attachments in the dishwasher and have had my mixer for over six years and NO OXIDATION. HMMMM. Imagine that? Washing an attachment by hand! Highly recommend any KitchenAid appliance (well small appliance as I have never purchased a major appliance of this brand).
We Love our KA stand mixers. We have two, standard and the mini size. The reason for two stars is the whisk/whip base. It leaves a disgusting residue. What is KA thinking. The brand is synonymous with excellence. We agree with a previous user... stainless or ceramic.... not the type of metal that will oxidize. This is KITCHENAIDafter all. If we wanted subpar appliances, we would have purchased another brand for considerably less. What is KA doing to recify this issue, for purchases already made?Cannot recommend this with the issue still persisting.
I only use the whisk attachment for making whipped cream and I could never figure out why I had dark flecks in my whipped cream until recently. I finally googled it and sure enough, countless comments online related to the poor quality of the whisk being used caused these silvery flecks that only show up to those of us who use it to make the all white cream. It looks disgusting and it can't at all be safe to injest this material. The whisk has gotten so much worse over time that I can't use it anymore, I came on the site to look for an all stainless steel option and there is none! Why would there be no clean, stainless steel option when so many people have reported the exact same problem. Now Ill have to find another option for making whipped cream and I'm really ... MoreI only use the whisk attachment for making whipped cream and I could never figure out why I had dark flecks in my whipped cream until recently. Why would there be no clean, stainless steel option when so many people have reported the exact same problem. Now Ill have to find another option for making whipped cream and I'm really unhappy about that, my kitchenaid mixer should be able to do it all. It says the whisk is stainless but the base that you attach to the mixer is not, I don't know what it's made of but it's terrible quality and it makes sense that there's a cancer warning on it. A whisk attachment should be fully dishwasher safe, if it isn't that's a red flag to know that the materials aren't safe.
Just like many other people, the whisk is leaving black residue on everything. We ended up throwing an entire batch of frosting out after seeing the residue leaching down one of the wires, I can’t believe this has not been addressed and fixed by an engineer. For the hand washing suggestion, glad you have time on you hands, some of us bought this to help save a minute or two in our lives. How about a coating like the other attachments.
The mixer is a excellent product but the part - the whisk is not. It left terrible black stuff after taking out of the dishwasher. You are Kitchen Aid, how come it not dishwasher safe?! it's leaving black residue in whatever I am mixing, on my hands as well. Disappointed! And apparently, I'm not the only one with the issue!
