I ended up buying the matching kitchen aid espresso machine as well and have, ever since, been using trial and error to dial in the perfect grind for espresso, which is proving far more challenging than I expected. It’s also worth pointing out you can programme the time it grinds for, so you can adjust to your preferred grind amount. There are likely alternative models for little more than the full price of this item that may be better for serious home baristas. But for the convenience factor of quick switching between grind size, reasonably consistent grind, and ability to brew an espresso of sorts, this is definitely worth it.

The aroma of fresh coffee fills my home, creating a sense of contentment and excitement from what’s to come of this whole process. Cleaning the grinder is very simple and only takes a few minutes on a regular basis, a rinse or nice wipe down and you’re good to go. I love that the hopper holds so much coffee and has the ability to hold a portafilter to add the grounds directly to it. We do not have an espresso machine, so we weren’t able to test the ability of the adaptor for the portafilter. But it has a nice magnetic action that was fun to attach and detach. Last of all, this thing looks good on our counter. We aren’t big fans of appliances on our counters, but this may force us to make an exception.

Wow! I had no idea that a household coffee grinder could be this advanced. The KitchenAid Burr Coffee Grinder has everything that you can possibly ask for in a coffee grinder. With 70 precise settings from course to fine, you will get the exact grind size for your cup of coffee. And with the grind size setting of your choosing, this coffee grinder will automatically adjust the grind time to ensure that you get the exact consistency that you need. Of course, all of this is visible on an easy to read digital display. It's even possible to override the preset grind time and manually adjust it to your liking, but I think it's ideal to go with the factory defaults since that has never let me down. This coffee grinder truly takes the guess work out of grinding coffee and does it all for you. You can even adjust the amount of grounded coffee that you want, from 1 to 12 cups. So whether you're making a single cup of coffee for yourself, several cups for your workday, or enough coffee for the entire family, this machine has got you covered! I don't even need to empty out the grind container or the bean hopper between grinds, as the lids seal the containers very well. This KitchenAid Burr Coffee Grinder replaced a popular coffee grinder that I had purchased online several years back. And I'm blown away to see what a difference a few years makes when it comes to technology. This new coffee grinder is light years ahead of the rest and a huge upgrade to what I previously had. Easy to use and easy to clean. Much more quiet. Much more advanced. Much more happy. Perfect grounded coffee, every single time. When it comes to kitchen appliances, nothing beats the most trusted brand KitchenAid!

The controls are extremely easy to use, with the grind coarseness and quantity selector being particular highlights. No matter how bleary-eyed you may be first thing in the morning from lack of caffeine, setting your preferences and hitting "Start" is a cinch. I was still playing around with coarseness to find the most precise grind for my everyday coffee maker, but I was immediately pleased with the results I got. It's quiet enough until the blender comes to life. The rough sleepers in your house may disagree but any discomfort they may experience upon waking will certainly be alleviated by the promise of coffee made with freshly ground beans, so Tell them to calm down and grab their favorite cup. The bean hopper is nicely designed and seems airtight enough that I don't mind leaving a few days worth of beans in there at a time. Other than that, static electricity doesn't seem to be a big problem as this thing has been in regular use since it sat on my kitchen counter and not once have I had to try to coax shy bases out of its corners. I have now used this blender dozens of times with absolutely no problems, not even static electricity in the blending collection cup. Cleaning is very easy. The stainless steel conical drill bit can be removed for cleaning but must not be rinsed. Other parts, the coffee bean holder and the collection cup with lid, the bottom tray should only be washed by hand. In terms of time, I can grind 5 different batches of 1 lbs whole bean coffee and clean out the machine in under an hour at a leisurely pace.

So quiet!

This is my fourth grinder. My first two were cheap grinders from CT, very small, very loud. The third was from the big membership warehouse that sells everything from bread to clothes to appliances. It was a Cuisinart, on sale, and could grind more beans, but it was SO LOUD. Made due by grinding a week's worth of beans ahead of time, in the afternoon when all household members were awake. Then it started overheating and eventually broke.Started doing some research and this grinder kept coming up as highly recommended. The Brick had the best price and even though I had to wait a couple weeks for it to arrive in the store, I was willing to be patient. We've had it for about 3 weeks now, and holy cow, is it ever quiet! I can grind beans fresh at 7am now if I want, I love the little dial so I can grind exactly how many cups of beans I need, and it's so easy to transfer the ground beans to the coffee machine with the bottom receptacle. (Previously we had to MacGyver some sort of funnel with a sheet of paper, and even then, the static electricity meant half the time there was bean dust all over the counter.) Also, had to constantly clean the last grinder. This Kitchenaid, not an issue! If I put too many beans, the top canister easily twists off, and can dump the beans back in the bag. OR, you can just put the lid on and it's air tight enough to stay fresh until the next grind. This grinder is triple the price of what I paid for my last grinder, but worth every penny. Very happy that Google recommended the Brick for this purchase because otherwise, I would have never even thought to check. (In my mind, it's a furniture store, haha) It also came in the nice grey colour that Am**** was charging a lot more for, and matches my cabinets!

Zero static? How'd they do that?

I've used several coffee grinders in the past, most all of them flat burr grinders and all of them generated static electricity that caused the grinds to stick to stuff, lots of stuff. I'd always end up with grinds on the counter and stuck to the insides of the hopper and everywhere else it seems. Not so with this beauty! When I say zero static cling, I mean ZERO. Again, how'd they do that? No grounds on the counter either. All the grounds are in a very nice conical pile inside the hopper, where they belong. The grounds are perfect, no powder, no off sized pieces, nothing stuck together. Just VERY uniform grounds, just the way I like them. Even after I dump the grounds from the hopper to the paper filter and basket, no grounds are stuck anywhere!I've noticed that ... MoreI've used several coffee grinders in the past, most all of them flat burr grinders and all of them generated static electricity that caused the grinds to stick to stuff, lots of stuff. Even after I dump the grounds from the hopper to the paper filter and basket, no grounds are stuck anywhere!I've noticed that the coffee tastes better with this grinder, more coffee taste it seems. My wife didn't notice any taste difference, but I know better...Did I mention how quiet this grinder is? The motor is quite powerful and turns at a much slower speed than my old grinders. As a result of the extra torque, the motor runs at a constant speed, grinding or not. Only the sound changes slightly once the beans are all ground up.The grinder seems to be designed, for the most part, to leave the beans stored in the hopper till you're ready to grind them. I don't like that myself, so I dump just enough beans into the hopper to brew 12 cups, two large scoops of beans is what it takes. I use a drip coffee maker and have the grind size set to 43. I had to adjust the preset time to 35 seconds. It takes ~30 seconds to grind the two scoops and I let it run the additional time to clear the grinder a bit.Overall, I love this grinder and would recommend it to anyone. It's a bit pricey, but worth it.

So I’m an amateur coffee connoisseur, and this has been the biggest game-changer to my coffee. The ability to so quickly and easily go between so many different grind presets is incredible. Honestly it’s the best all in one grinder that I’ve seen. The fact that it’s a burr grinder really improves the uniformity of the grind and flavor. I know that some crazy coffee people (not me of course) literally weigh the coffee beans as they go in, and then weigh the grounds afterwards to make sure that it was an accurate grind. I am not able to speak to that level of precision. I use it largely as my espresso grinder and it’s perfect. Only real downside is that my porta filter is 51mm and the porta filter holder on the machine is for larger ones, like 54mm or 58mm. Only real downside is that my porta filter is 51mm and the porta filter holder on the machine is for larger ones, like 54mm or 58mm. I tried looking to see if they have smaller parts, but they don’t. Not a huge deal, I’ll try getting a lighter porta filter so it can just rest on the holder as it’s grinding. Unfortunately I bought from Amazon and didn’t realize that there were different colors, so I’m stuck with red. But since I know kitchen aid has great quality, I know that this will be good for the next 30 years. Who knows, maybe I’ll have red kitchen appliances by then. Also, this is the quietest grinder I’ve heard…the best quality in my opinion. All-in-all, really amazing. I definitely recommend to anyone. If you’re weighing your coffee before and after grinding it, you’re wrong, and you should be enjoying it without weighing your beans like everyone else. For everyone else, this is your one-stop-shop for an excellent burr grind that is not only quiet, but perfect for any grind. Well done to whoever designed this.

Read reviews, and everyone seemed to recommend obscenely expensive grinders, with a few exceptions that always had some deal-breaker (noisy, or made a mess, or inconsistent, etc).Saw this Kitchenaid out of the corner of my eye, remembered that our stand mixer has been a staple in multiple kitchens for like 30yrs now, and decided to take a leap of faith after reading mostly positive reviews.Man, this thing it great! SUPER QUIET - almost pleasant to listen to - like a healthy-sounding V8 instead of a 4-banger with a CVT. The method to select grind size and dosing is great and simple. One button to go first thing in the morning with no fuss, no mess, and then great results - a great cup of coffee every time. Can't complain at all...Being from MI originally, I love that this was perhaps designed locally, so this burr grinder gets a double-thumbs up from this guy...

[Rewarded Review] This is fantastic

I replaced an OXO grinder with this one. The OXO was constantly clogging due to its angled chute between the hopper and the receptacle. It's almost impossible to clean. after using many bent paperclips, I binned it.The Kitchen Aid has a straight, vertical hole which makes cleaning a breeze. It has not clogged once. The user interface is terrific. You can dial the grind size, then the machine calculates the grind time based upon the number of cups you want. After a couple trial and error efforts, I found the perfect settings to use with my Moccamaster. I cannot speak to espresso, but this machine is perfect for drip coffee. And, it is exceptionally quiet. The OXO sounded like a plane taking off and scared my cats out of the kitchen. This machine is very quiet indeed. The quality of the parts, like the receptacle, is exceptional, and the red looks great in our kitchen. Another plus is that you can remove the bean hopper with the beans still inside if you want to clean the machine, unlike others where you need to dump the beans in a bowl. Cleaning is easy, too. The burrs pop right off and are easily cleaned with a brush (don't use water). Then you can easily clean the hole between the burrs and the receptacle to avoid clogging.I know it's not on the coffee snob list of recommended grinders, but if you want a well built and attractive piece for regular coffee, I highly recommend this.
