Before purchasing this item I read a lot of reviews. They were mixed, but I've always had great luck with the KitchenAid brand and really wanted to love this toaster. Unfortunately it's only ok. I love the warning beep when it's done toasting. But I've had issues with items being toasted heavier on one side. I also have to keep it on the lowest setting and items are still very toasted. I have kids who like things lightly toasted and it's difficult to pull off even on 1. I'm hoping with time maybe things will even out, but so far, I'm disappointed with this toaster.

Bought this a few weeks ago to replace the same toaster type which finally said good-bye. The former toaster lasted 10 years. The new toaster is currently working great and I have zero issues. I do, though, wish KitchenAid kept the LED feature on the new toaster (previously on the older toaster). The LED showed the toasting level in number (vs a dial with numbers) and it also showed how much time was left for the toast to be complete (there was a "countdown bar of sorts). These were definitely welcomed perks to the simple device and levelled it up. Too bad these were removed and the new toaster is now as basic as it gets.

I'd been dealing with a toaster that toasted bread darker on the "inner" side; I figured the element got hotter on that side. I knew I wanted to replace it, but I hesitated on investing in the KitchenAid 2-slice toaster because of the price. I finally decided that having the higher quality appliance would equal longer life, so I ordered one. Unfortunately, this does the exact same thing as the cheaper, department store quality unit I'd used for years. That being said, it is extremely well made, much heavier duty and toasts bread much faster than my old one. I'm still glad I bought it, but disappointed that I still have to turn the toast around to cook the other side, if I want even cooking.

I have owned this KitchenAid toaster for 7 years. I have never had any problems with it. It looks nice sitting out on the counter. I never have to worry about putting it away, when company comes over. It still looks new after all the years of usage and moving. It is simple to clean. The crumbs don't easily fall out of it. When I toast something, it always comes out evenly. I would highly recommend this toaster. It's quality is worth it's price.

One side is toasted while the other is hardly toasted at all.The little line on the shade selector has faded, so it's difficult to see what number it's on. It does have a click sound when you turn it which is sort of helpful but seeing the line helps me more than the click. The most annoying thing about this toaster is the LOUD BEEP that happens at the end of the toasting cycle. I didn't realize it had this feature when I purchased it.After 4 months of using this toaster the beep still bothers me. I usually try to end the toasting cycle before it beeps.Anyway, I liked my Cuisinart toaster better. I had it for several years, it was perfect. Does what it says on the box.Love not having to wait for a bi-metallic switch to cool off enough before starting to toast multiple slices.Only thing stopping it being a 5-star toaster, is that it toasts too dark.Even on the lowest level, we have to manually cancel or the toast is too dark (to be far; the bread is a thicker than normal slice, and we do like very light toast. If there was an internal offset adjusting potentiometer, that would solve all my issues). Can only recommend if you like dark toast (anything other than 1 starts to burn the toast).
We upgraded an old worn out toaster with this unit. Having a kitchen full of stainless appliances we really liked the brushed appearance of this toaster. Honestly we were concerned about how hot the exterior metal would get, but we've been very pleased. It's perfectly safe to handle and touch the exterior after it has been used. The vents and airflow are well designed in this unit keeping it cool enough on the outside. It toasts evenly, the bagel setting works great.

After trying to find a 2-slice long slot toaster to fit my long length Sourdough bread slices AND also toast well, nothing was good enough. I realized long-slot toasters, no matter which brand or or price range from economy to very expensive just doesn't toast like a regular 2-slot toaster. That prompted me to give KitchenAid a try since their stand mixers are top-notch quality. I just received my regular 2-slot toaster & over the last few days I've decided it's a keeper. Finally! Though my long Sourdough bread won't quite fit (about 1/4-inch short), I simply cut off 1/8-in off on side then it fits in perfectly & toasts like I like it..a nice slight golden brown. I recieved this toaster for a Chtistmas present to add to my collection of Kitchenaid products. Now I have 6qt mixer,hand held mixer,blender, chopper with attactments. and now my new toaster. They all work hard for me everyday and Holidays baking. Its a fine product. Worth the money. Has staying power. Can Beat,whip,chop slice,dice,whatever you do ,do it with Kitchenaid if you can. All these will be passed down to grandaughters to use for years to come for lots of baking.
