They do not dissapoint!I haven't tried isolating this speaker so I can't really speak of the details. I love music, but not an audiophile where I could give you any specifics to the speakers capabilities. However, I can say that I am looking forward to getting a ton of use out of this speaker, for my space this fits well and does not disappoint regardless of the media I consume!

The Klipsch R-50M bookshelf is a pretty impressive speaker considering the small footprint - while it is a little taller than other 5 1/4" bookshelf speakers (thanks to the massive horn tweeter), the depth and width of the speaker are quite a bit more compact than other bookshelves I've seen. Practically, this means that you might be able to fit them next to a TV more easily, or on a shorter shelf than other models. Lookswise - I found the grille off look to be a bit unbalanced thanks to the large tweeter design. That's personal preference, of course, but I think this is the only speaker in the lineup that I prefer the grilles on vs off.I found the sound of the R-50M speakers to carry over many of the qualities I loved about the R-800F towers, while being a little ... Efficiency isn't as good as the towers, although that's to be expected, of course. Compared to 2 other sets of bookshelf speakers in my house, I found the tweeter design contributes favorably to a simliar "wall of sound" up front just like the R-800F, but the other bookshelf speakers I compared to were a little better in the mid-range and low end. I tried various distances from the wall, given they are rear ported, but I could not get any improvement to the sound using that method. That's not to say these sound bad - far from it. I just was a little overwhelmed after auditioning their big brothers, and was expecting to be delighted with the same clarity at low volume. Instead, I found I had to get a bit louder to get the same dynamics out of the R-50M. In practice, as rear speakers in my surround setup, the sound characteristics of the R-50M are well suited to the other speakers in the Reference series and they handle movies, SACD, and DVD-A surround audio formats with aplomb.I have not had a chance to wall mount them yet, instead using stands for the time being, but my plan is to use the integrated wall mount threaded hole to seamlessly get these on my wall soon. That's a great perk that's an improvement over the keyhole mount you often see on speakers like this.

All considered, an important part of my home theater system in my small TV room.

The R50M Klipsch bookshelf speakers are some great speakers that sound good as standalone bookshelf speakers or surround sound speakers. The R50’s come in a wooden enclosure that’s painted black. They have detachable magnetic grills, which give you easy access to viewing the beautiful tweeter and coper-colored woofers. The back of the speakers have 2 speaker ports that can be used with banana clips. There is also a female screw hole that can be used for mounting the speakers to a speaker stand. These speakers are tall, with a total height of 14” tall and 8” long, they can look out of place if you’re using them as surrounds on speaker stands. These speakers are tall, with a total height of 14” tall and 8” long, they can look out of place if you’re using them as surrounds on speaker stands. Although, when placed on a shelf, they look great. Something I’m not used to seeing, is on the bottom of the speakers they have a single flat piece of cork instead of 4 rubber pegs. I loved that Klipsch decided to do this, as it gives the speakers a very low profile, while keeping them from sliding anywhere. The R50’s are built exceptionally well. They’re very sturdy and have zero lose parts, and they sound amazing too. I had to try them out as 2ch bookshelf speakers before I did anything else, just to see what kind of sound is produced. I connected them to my Onkyo NR1600 along with my turntable, the results were nice. The vocals were great, they were very bright and clear. Music sounded good, with the amazing tweeters these speakers have, I was able to hear everything crystal clear. The bass that the woofers provide is good for their size, but if you really want a good listening experience, I highly recommend adding a subwoofer. I added my Klipsch 101sw 10” sub and that’s all this needed to make it bump. The next thing I wanted to tryout was how well the R50’s sound as surround sound speakers. So, I connected a 5.2.1 Dolby Atmos set up and used the R50’s as my surround speakers. The results were great, these make even better surround speakers than they do 2ch speakers. The sound is so lifelike that I actually felt like I was in the movie.Overall, I really like the Klipsch Reference R50 bookshelf speakers. They make good 2ch speakers, (even better when connected with a subwoofer). But the speakers make the perfect surround sound speakers, the sounds that they produce are so lifelike. They look amazing too, especially when you remove the magnetic grill an expose the gorgeous copper colored woofer and the midnight black indented tweeter. The build quality on these speakers is also phenomenal, you can easily tell these were made to last. I highly recommend these spears!

The highs project really well and the bass is acceptable for a driver of its size. However, I would recommend painting it with a dedicated woofer for better sound.I am currently using them as surround sound speakers but I probably wouldn't recommend that to someone else. As a surround speaker, their full potential is wasted. Most times I can't tell if it's on or working unless I put my ear up to them. They really need a full spectrum of sound and more volume to be appreciated. With all that said, if you intend to use them as your front channels they will sound great and you won't be disappointed.
OVERVIEWThe Klipsch R-50M surround speakers are very good, with huge sound in a moderately compact size that adds huge sound to the back of your theater setup. They also feature a design aesthetic that fits in with nearly any theater setup.DESIGNAs with Klipsch's other new speakers from the redesigned Reference series, the R-50M speakers feature a classy and understated look that ensure it'll blend in in most scenarios. Additionally, the speaker grille is attached via hidden magnets, meaning no ugly grommet/plug systems that beg you to leave the grille on. Behind the grille, you'll see the signature golden/bronzed Klipsch mid/low driver along with the small golden section inside the horn. Overall, the speaker looks great both with and without the grille. They're somewhat sizable, but they'll mostly in line with mid-sized bookshelf speakers of the kind. Though you can't nest these away in a corner, this sizing nets you a huge benefit in terms of sound quality.SOUND QUALITYSimply put, the R-50M speakers sound great. These very easily could suffice for many applications as front speakers given their frequency response and large sound space. They sound amazing at both movies/TV and music. To run them through their paces, I first fired up some of my favorite records, setting my system to "all surround" to allow all the speakers to throw sound. Regardless of the album or genre, the R-50Ms sounded great, projecting a precise high-end (likely the result of Klipsch's new tweeters included in the Reference series), with a smooth rolloff that's transitions seamlessly to the mid/low driver's range. These don't have a particularly large amount of bass, but they shouldn't; that's not the point of bookshelf style speakers. They have enough bass to fill the void that's generally picked up by larger speakers or subwoofers, but they truly excel at the low-mid to high frequencies. And they're equally well represented watching movies. Watching a few of my favorite action movies (like John Wick 3), I was constantly amazed at how steady and present the R-50M surrounds were. In many cases, surround speakers serve as utilitarian purpose whereby they give you sound in the back that's decent but that generally doesn't hold a candle to your front speakers in terms of frequency response and sound quality. That is definitely not the case here. The sound space transition from my front speakers (Klipsch's new R800 floor standing speakers) to these surrounds is seamless. They almost sound too good to be relegated to surrounds to be honest.CONCLUSIONThese are great surround speakers that could also serve as your front speakers. The frequency response and output is amazing, leaving little to be desired as surrounds that hold their own with much larger front speakers. Teamed with the classy design aesthetic, these should be a serious consideration for anyone looking to upgrade their home theater.
I have these paired with a yamaha reveiver and a klipsch 121sw for listening to music and after some adjustments I trully enjoy how they sound. The music comes out very clear sounding. Some might like a warmer tone, but i was going for clarity. They have achieved this. I do not feel the horns screaming at me like some critize klipsch for, even at high volumes. Some listening fatigue at higher volumes, when I had the sub dialed up a little too high. As for home theather use, I have them setup with a polk audio as a center and two JBL’s as rears. Very good sound accuracy and a great low end with the sub pairing. You feel the rumble.
I was looking for an integrated sound system as due to space restrictions we did not really have room for a lot of separate units. I seen the Denon on your website but was not sure what speakers to get. I am not that tech aware but the assistant (Rob?) could not have been more helpful and talked me throughthe various options. It would have been nice to be able to listen to some CDs I brought through the system but I realise you are limited with space in the store. The system does all what it says, plays cd dab radio and Bluetooth. Am so glad I added a record deck as well, have not had one for years. I have boxfuls of albums and it's great to hear the, playable, ones again! Rob did explain that you get a much better sound with separate units but a was a little ... Also the overall sound is a bit 'muffled' wish I bought a better quality integrated unit but the speakers are fine. Overall tho, pleased with the product, the service excellent as always and the free next day delivery was spot on. Have bought a tv and speakers off you previously and would never go anywhere else but Richer sounds for music or any entertainment systems.
These are my first pair of Klipsch bookshelves after owning JBL, Infinity, Pioneer, Jamos, and many others. First, the looks is stunning and quite vintage...I love it! Second, 92 db sensitivity means they are very efficient and weasy to drive! I've tried them with my vintage Pioneer receivers and even a 16w Kenwood with no problems turning it up! This new R-50M are not fatiguing as previous models and has a wider wave guide. I play records and prefer a warmer sound of gud 'ol classic rock, intrumentals, country, 80's pop and metal so my music range is quite varied. These speakers sound very detailed as well as offer a gud amount of punch. While not audiophile qulaity levels, they will satisfy just about anyone's music taste...and stay on budget! If you want ... If you want beautiful looks as well as competent performance, these are worth a look. I've been pleasantly surprised at the sound quality and should get better after a "break-in" period. These are a "keeper" for me!
Klipsch has been known for making high quality speakers for both Home Audio and even for PC with relatively few design changes. My previous Klipsch speaker setup was several years old, and were used in a home cinema I’d set up in dedicated movie room. They were small, but effective when paired with a good subwoofer and receiver. In the box you’ll find two Klipsch Bookshelf Speakers, a setup guide, and warranty information. As I received this with other Reference Series Speakers, I was happy to see these had the same cork style padding on the bottom to help keep the speaker from shifting around on your shelf. The speakers allow for the use of Banana plugs or you can screw the cables into place.I paired this with a newer Onkyo receiver, and other Klipsch Reference ... I was happy to see the speaker grills are magnetically attached, making it easy to remove the grill for future dust removal and cleaning.I used these bookshelf speakers as my rear surround sounds, and have been happy with the sound quality so far. They compliment the rest of the Reference Series speakers well.Ultimately, the bookshelf have provided much clearer sound than my previous Klipsch set. When paired with other Reference Series speakers, it really elevates the home theater experience. The speakers are painted black, with a wood exterior, and is a bit on the larger size for bookshelf speakers, but should fit most applications well. Given the size of the speakers, I imagine these would be great as stereo speakers for a small amp with a phono player, and definitely work well as surround sounds.
