It’s lovely when somebody designs something that’s both functional and beautiful.The bell is very clear and easy to use. The copper ring looks stunning on the handlebars.My only problem is my MTB bars taper to quite a slim diameter at the handles. The plastic spacer doesn’t work on such a slim bar. At the moment the bell is close to the stem, so I have to move my hand a long way to use it. I’ll sort that out.

Nice looking unit, attractivly packaged. I took it out, thought I could handle the installation no problem, and started to bend it around the bar. It required so much flex to fit that I backed off and thought, hmm, better read the instructions. I watched the video, and the tech just pushes it right over the bar...so I went ahead and tried to do the same. Snap! The inside plastic broke immediately. Frustrating as i like the profile and the sound. So anyway, be careful on the mounting. (REI did take it back, no problem)

The Knog Oi Classic is too quiet, I'm sorry to say. I feel bad; I asked for one through my local bike shop when I bought a new road bike, and they ended up ordering a bunch because they looked so cool, but the sound's just so soft. I come up behind people on greenways and bridge-crossings and they never hear the Knog until I'm within, like, 10 or 15 feet. It's a real shame, because it's a cool design and it looks great on the handlebars, but it's basically a fashion accessory. I have an Incredibell Omnibell on my older bike and it's much louder, so I'd recommend that unless you care about the shape/profile more than the sound.

DO NOT BUY!!!I saw this bell advertised on social media. I liked that it was low profile and sleek. However, when I received it I was very disappointed. The spring mechanism to ring the bell seemed flimsy and did not make for a powerful enough strike on the metal.Here's what put the nail in the coffin. The plastic ring/band that secures the bell to the handlebar broke on installation! It simply snapped before I could position it properly.The design seems to be a good idea, but the materials used are substandard.
I was drawn to this bell because of it innovative and sleek design but was bitterly disappointed by its effectiveness. Using a decibel meter on my phone, with the phone placed a centimetre from the bell it recorded a maximum of 76db. This reduced to 65db 1 metre from the bell - with background traffic noise, which was limited to a couple of passing cars and a bus idling at a bus stop 50 metres away, recorded at 60db the bell is going to very quickly be drowned out by background noise and be totally ineffective.I've also found that the hammer doesn't always go in the direction you want and misses the bell completely, or only makes light contact. reducing the output considerably or making it totally silent.Sadly, not what I was expecting at all.
The product was delivered quickly in the correct condition. I love the ring to this bell much more than its smaller version and most other bells on the market. My handlebars needed a shim, so I recommend measuring to determine if you need one. I just cut down another cheap grip pad and put that between the bell and my handlebars for support.
Nice looking and easy to fit. Doesn’t sit well on my bike despite the cut outs for the cables. Was expecting it to be louder if I’m honest. It’s pretty loud but when by roads it’s hard to hear so not always effective.Unfortunately no matter how good a bell is though, there is no accounting for the ignorance of some people you encounter. Then there is the very prevalent problem of headphones etc so some people are oblivious to the rest of the world no matter what. You would need a fog horn to get them to notice.
I bought the small version, because I have the Oi Large version. I was expecting a different sound quality between the sizes just because of the size. But boy was I wrong. Not only was there a difference in the sound quality, small version of the Oi bell just makes an underwhelming "clink" once the plastic thumb attachment hits the metal portion of the bell. I initially thought I attached it wrong. After fiddling with it for 10 minutes, I just keep getting the underwhelming "clink" noise. Aside from the poor sound quality, the small version doesn't even make enough sound to call someone's attention. I have to keep clinking the bell at least 4 or 5 times to get someone to hear it. Really disappointing. The hammer spring is so weak that half the time you try to flick it, it doesn't swign forward hard enough to hit the bell at all. My £5 Amazon one on my other bike is much better in that regard, but unfortunately they don't make those to fit 31.8mm dropped bars. Also the design is such that the normal cable routing out form underneath bar tape fouls the bell metal unless you tip it all the way back so the hammer is pointing downwards, making it practically useless. Only gets two stars because the noise is actually quite nice and sounds high quality, if you can actually get it to make the noise when you want it to. Wouldn't recommend, wouldn't buy again.
I purchased the large size and its way too big for my bars. Most people are going to want the small. Besides that, the bell is very well built and the machined metal looks hella cool. Perhaps the only bell that makes me excited to ring it. The tone itself is also pleasant. You might not think it, but it sounds 'nicer' than a regular bell. Definitely "non-confrontational". Definitely buying another that is the right size.
