Kora Organics - Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask - 100ml

This wasn't at all what I was expecting. Looking at the ingredients, I thought this would be a smoother consistency powered by chemical exfoliants (e.g., papaya extract). This mask contains more harsher-feeling physical exfoliants, which I tend to avoid. On my skin, it felt like the old-school walnut shell scrubs that can be very harsh and irritating. The worst part, though, was the overwhelming scent and sensation from the peppermint oil that the mask contains. Even though it is pretty far down on the ingredient list, the peppermint is strong and irritating. I do not have sensitive skin, but I felt like this stripped my skin and didn't help with my dry patches at all. I did get a bit of smoothing and reduction of congestion on my nose, but I get better results from acid masks. I had to use an oil and moisturizer after this to make my skin feel hydrated. I definitely would not recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin.

I can be pretty picky about masks. A lot of them seem to make my skin feel parched or it's a pain to rinse off. Like those ones you have to get a washcloth to scrub off, then honestly, you're doing more damage than good. Sometimes I can't just hop in the shower to remove a mask so it has to be good both with a fast sink rinse or a long shower.This turmeric mask is incredible. Smells amazing, I love the bold scent. It's a bit medicinal, a bit gingery, a bit herbal-y. It could be very polarizing for some, you'll either be obsessed or hate the scent. I think it's amazing. Amazing Mask

This mask is amazing. I love the feel during and after use. Unlike other masks, it feels refreshing and deep cleaning. I like how it exfoliates my skin, and after cleaning my skin is powerless, even tone, and oil free. Doing this mask once a week makes my skin radiant for days. It gives an original glow and the best part for me is the vegan and cruelty free part. This mask is amazing for all reasons. But the best part is the after glow.

Don't let it touch your face!

I tried it once. Thanks, it was enough. It really has a good effect, the skin becomes very soft and smooth and for some miraculous reason it didn't turn my face into a hot red mess (I think, I just was very careful to remove it as gently as possible). But it hurts. The particles inside it are so firm and hard, that it is really painful to apply this product even with the slightest effort. I would not recommend it to anyone. Even if your skin is as thick as elephant's, please, do not apply it. It is traumatizing for the skin and using it, especially as they recommend (2-3 times a week, are you joking?), can lead to huge skin issues. There are so many nice acid peelings out there without those hard particles that are just as effective but not so destructive for you ... MoreI tried it once. Thanks, it was enough. Fave Brightening & Exfoliating Mask

This is a powerhouse product. I’m wearing it as I write this review. I use it once a week, as part of a three-mask routine (exfoliating + purifying + hydrating.) I like to spray a facial mist on my cleansed skin, then use my fingers to GENTLY massage this onto my face. It turns a particularly unappealing shade of silty yellow-brown, but that massaging in is what makes this a good mask. It does have grit, but between dampened skin and very gentle motions, it doesn’t get too bad. I typically leave it on for 15 minutes, then use one of the super-soft makeup removing cloths to gently splash and massage it off. I cannot emphasize gentleness enough. Great mask, but why peppermint oil?

3.5 stars. I have fair, combination (more oily), rosacea-prone, occasionally acne-prone skin. The word "mask" is a misnomer for this treatment - it's more of a scrub that you leave on for an extended time. That said, I like that aspect a lot. I tend to put it on first thing in the shower and rinse/scrub it off at the end. It provides a really nice physical exfoliation and otherwise has been great for making my skin smoother, softer, and more glowing. However, the reason for my lower star rating is inclusion of peppermint oil. It serves no purpose in the formula except to provide a "tingle" which I would argue is more obnoxious than anything - it provides a "cooling" sensation with no actual cooling. Another brand I didn't have on my radar, I used this after receiving a sample. I LOVE it! Other reviewers have noted how harsh this mask is so I am reviewing as someone with combination skin. I can imagine it would might irritate delicate skin but for me, it did exactly what I wanted it to. I used it as a mask and the minty, cooling feeling was wonderful. Rinsing off, I was able to give my face a good exfoliation with the grains and afterwards, my skin was baby soft. This will be perfect on a hot summer's day when you seriously need help cooling down. This is a winner for me and I will buy again!

I have always found scrub masks to be a bit of a disappointment in the past as my skin is a sensitive combination type - redness, irritation/dry patches, and/or acne breakout nightmare. I'm 32 now and I have suffered with skin issues since my teens and have tried nearly everything out there to help clear and balance it out. Nothing worked and it really made my self esteem plummet. I was pleasantly shocked to see that it didn't, it just got better and better - my skin became more and more smooth, clear and glowing! Before purchasing I did further research and found that Kora is also a vegan cruelty free, certified organic and a sustainable company (and owned by a fellow Aussie) - this was the icing on the cake for me and 'sealed the deal'. I went out and purchased a tube along with some other Kora goodies (face oil, eye oil, vitamin c serum, sleeping mask, turmeric moisturiser, rose mist, rose luminiser, heart gua sha) and my skin has honestly never looked so amazing! Makeup also sits so much better on my skin now, but I barely wear any anymore because I feel so much more confident without it. This is the only skincare I will use now and I won't stop recommending it to others. Thank you Kora for not only giving me the skin I have always dreamed of, but also inspiring me with positivity and wellness which I can pass onto others. :)

Very Abrasive - No to Peppermint- Feels Too Harsh

I was gifted a travel size duo with the overnight mask, so while I didn't purchase myself, I have been very curious to try. This scrub is incredibly abrasive, with sharp feeling granules. It feels like it would be damaging to the skin. Does is exfoliate? Well yes, as it feels like a scourer on your face. I have used a pea size amount only, as any more than that just feels way too harsh, and like sandpaper on your face . I also hadn't noted that there is peppermint oil in this scrub, which I am cautious about. While I know there can be some benefit to diluted peppermint oil in skin use, in combination with the abrasiveness and scratchiness of the scrub, I feel adding peppermint just makes this too volatile and potentially damaging for me to recommend. You can certainly feel the tingling of the peppermint, which I am not a fan of. The tingling sensation does subside fairly quickly after rinsing and drying, but then again, I only use a pea size amount. Does my skin look OK after use? Yes it looks OK, but nothing special or amazing. I can't help but feel that the combination of abrasiveness of the grains and the peppermint oil feel too caustic and damaging to the skin. I much prefer a gentle exfoliation, which does not mean it's less effective. I prefer the Sodashi enzyme polish which feels milky and has very fine granules (yes it's way more expensive). Once you feel the difference between the sharpness of the grains, you'll be reluctant to use something that feels as harsh as the Kora scrub does. I think the finer the granules the better the result. Would also recommend Beauty Chef's Probiotic Refiner over this turmeric one. A big no from me.
