Very cool synth. Actual VCO's. You can instantly hear the difference between this and DCO. There is a beautiful and mild natural chorusing with any polyphony, and the resonance on the filter is stunning. I have many synths--new and vintage, and this has a unique place among them. Not what I would call a "powerful-sounding" synth out of the box (sometimes you gotta jack the volume up), but would be an excellent choice for very natural and "synthy" sounds. Also (again due to vcos), this synth is particularly great at those vintage scifi and horror sounds. The delay is a rad edition, and works well as a part of the instrument, doesn't feel cheesy or thin or anything--just a cool addition. Sync my analog gear with ease--both a Roland Juno 60 AND jx3p receiving nice tight clock from the sync out of the mini, its great. I also have it connected thru my Waldorf Pulse 2, and not only does it sync perfectly, but the mini receives START/STOP messages from the Pulse 2 arpeggiator! So when i start up the pulse 2, the mini is locked right in! I ended up also getting a TCE Hall of Fame reverb pedal---amazing digital reverbs with a very 80s sound on synths.It is a dope edition to any synth-heads studio. Lots of fun, unique, pleasing sound, and great connectivity options.

I'm someone that knew nothing about synths before I purchased this little guy and now I can easy come up with patches on the fly. I'm a huge fan of Future Islands, LCD Soundsystem, Liars and Tame Impala and it's almost too easy to come up with tones in the range of these bands. The only down side I found is that it doesn't come with any classic piano, Wurlitzer, or organ presets but if you fiddle enough with the nobs you'll be able to nail something close. get the polished gray finish if you can!

This was the first synthesizer that I purchased, and I really like it. It's relatively simple to shape the sound and create a custom pattern, as the controls are straight forward, with a single path.The fit and finish of the Minilogue feels solid with an aluminum case, and the keys feel good with velocity. It has a single, unbalanced (1/4" TS) output to plug into an audio interface, plus 1/4 in headphone jack, and USB (MIDI only).Overall, I like this analog synthesizer, especially to learn how to shape my own sounds.

I got mine yesterday and have not stopped using it since I opened the box. I am especially impressed with the large preset library available for free on Korg's website, and how easy it is to shape sounds on this thing. I also own a Nord A1, which does more and sounds better, but also costs over 3x as much. For the price, this synth nails the most important things to me: sound creation, ease of use, and style. As other reviewers will tell you, the synth has some real edge to it, but since I am mostly using it for leads, FX, and drones, is exactly what I want. Who is using a mono (as opposed to stereo) synth for pads? It's nice to look at (the color pushed me over the edge on the purchase of this over the XD, plus I already have 2 larger keyboards). Using the step sequencer or recording live is also really simple and intuitive The LED is excellent, though for someone with my eyesight, it is a little small. For people with normal vision, however, I think it is a great LED. The oscilloscope is pretty cool to see as you're making voices There are a lot of great presets built into the machine that you can modify and easily copy to the additional 100 user presets. Functions are easy to access unlike in other instruments where they are heavily nested and hard to get to. It is, for example, very easy to assign a function to the angled joystick to assist in modifying sounds during live performance motion sequencing. There are also many output choices that should suit most people's needs. At $ you can't beat the features on this great synth. Korg hit it out of the ballpark with this and will got a lot more attention from me in the future. And thanks to Adorama for such great service.
The Korg Minilogue is a SUPER fun & intuitive analog synth for everyone from beginners to seasoned synthesits. I've been programming synths for 20 years and this was just as fun as the first synth I ever used. Its analog sound is wonderful and thick. Almost everything has a knob or switch for control and, for the patches I was making, I never went into the menus for further editing beyond naming patches and setting sequencer settings. The shape control of the oscillators gives a lot of variation to your standard waveforms and the sync/ring-mod, cross modulation, & pitch envelope of oscillator two really open up the sonic possibilities. I very much enjoy the dedicated switch for velocity modulation of the filter cutoff and I like that there are only two modulation ... My favorite feature of the Minilogue is the envelope modulation of either the rate or the intensity of the LFO. This really gives a sense of motion to what is already a sense of motion from the LFO. My only complaint is that the LFO doesn't go fast enough for analog-FM style tones. It's not nearly as fast as the LFO on the Monologue but that's more of an observation that a full drawback. I really enjoyed the different voice modes of this synth, really finding mono, which introduces a variable level sub, and chord, which creates various fixed chords, to be the most useful beyond the standard poly mode. This is by far the best poly synth I have ever found for someone who is interested in learning analog synthesis. The knobs and switches along with the actual layout of them makes programming make sense and a joy to use. The Minilogue does have mini-keys but the mini keys Korg has been using for their new synths are really great. Much better than the microKORG. With the Minilogue, Korg really show us that there will always be room for one more analog synth.
Many moons ago I owned a Yamaha CS-5 with which I jammed with band mates and had a lot of fun. Eventually all my music-making was with computers, DAWs and software synths, but I missed the enjoyment of playing a real instrument. So I opted for a Minilogue. It fits perfectly in my little “studio” with other Korg hardware.
I also have the Minilogue XD, I love them both.It’s early days at the moment but I find them both equally enjoyable to play, and love the huge choice of preset sounds.I’m spoilt for choice, both synths have taken over my playing time and I love it.
Overall:I'm a retired executive from Sony GmbH in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia and as of lately produce film and television in North America.I have played lots of instruments and synthesizers and have spent decades engineering some of the most amazing top hits on the planet.
